  1. Was wondering if the menu could be expanded though...
  2. Well I was going to hold this one back till the end but as people have been talking about it here it is now. It started out as a Walls Ice cream van... ...but with a little modification it is now serving up mouth watering Fish & Chips and of course hot pies... The interior has been painted to represent a nice hygienic yellowy Formica. The frying range (sits on top of the rear counter) is made from plasticard with the covers made from a segment of plastic tube, the fish is small slices of coloured kitchen roll and the chips (there are some on the paper) are made from carpet underlay fibres. sauce, salt and vinegar are microstrip. Some of all this can be glimpsed through the hatch... The van body is yet to be completed and I need to know how much to charge for Fish & Chips, Pies and Tea, 1975 prices, can anyone remember?
  3. I know it's a bit late now and as you say there is a deadline but I found with the SE finecast brick if you sand it down a bit to remove the moulded doming it does improve it a lot, I did this on my Signal cabin for Felton Lane. See here.
  4. Absolutely superb, will you be leaving some loose/broken up bits in the 'hole'? they tend to gather all the cr*p.
  5. It was registered at the start of the 'Optional' period starting in 1968 so it could have been a good salesman or as you say an upgrading later. Proof of the rear plate here. Yes, a clean up, repaint and some wheels would sort it, don't have an ebay account but if one of the team wants to go for it I'll give it a rebuild.
  6. Well I wasn't going to post again this year but a chance discovery of this photo of a Bedford CA van taken from episode 1 of series 1 of The Sweeney got me thinking that I had an appropriate van (in Royal Mail livery) somewhere, it was duly found and a few hours and it has been transformed. Hope you all have a happy and productive new year.
  7. Looks fantastic Jonathan, go on tell us what the next one is...
  8. Local to me, 30 years ago, Lord Normanby had one. 15 years ago, my boss had one (farmer). Now, the girl on the hotel spa reception at work has one...
  9. Back to lorries for a while. When I got the cars the other week I spotted an EFE Atkinson 8 wheeler in the second hand cabinet for £5, although these early EFEs weren't all that good I thought I could do something with it, The cab has been repainted (it was in Suttons bright red) and the rear body has had its 'sides' filed away to make it flat, they were a scale 3-4" above the floor and didn't look right at all. I have struggled to find photos of this early type with single headlights but I managed to find two of the same lorry as original as a tanker and in fairground service as a flatbed. I am using it's identity despite not knowing what condition it was in in 1975 it will at least be an 8 wheeled Black Knight with single headlights! As a tanker. As a flatbed. I'm hoping to remove the EFE lettering from the tyres and add the second bumper, I've added step rings to the front wheels using slivers of plastic tube. It will also get mirrors, grab handles, wipers and hopefully a better (etched - does anyone do one?) 'Big A'. I thought that as well Wally.
  10. Keep 'em apart, you don't want too many...
  11. Watched a documentary on Jeff Lynne on BBC4 the other night, the bloke's a 'kin genius. So ELO Greatest Hits on today.
  12. My current car is a 54 reg (8 years old) Rover 45 and there isn't a spot of rust on it, so even Rover improved... Edit, there aren't any yellow spots on it either...
  13. There is a Morris Marina on it's way some time from Oxford, we'd need a crane to drop it from though
  14. I would have thought a Sheffield registration would be appropriate, it would no doubt spend it's life plodding between the BCB works and Sheffield.
  15. I was going for not quite as bad as this one...
  16. Had a good night. This Ford Zephyr 6 must have had a rough life, it's only 8 years old and looks like it's about had it... Enjoyed doing it though!
  17. Next on the ramps is the Rover P6, it is basically a model of the last one off the production line and so needed a new identity, it has taken the identity of this one even though it is of a different engine type it is at least a shade of green (who said research was boring...) The number plates are printed on plain paper and the lettering is 4pt Arial using Serif PagePlus. I also did the ones for the Bedford van at the same time.
  18. Hi Stu, the square ones are 12mm x 12mm and the large ones are 16mm x 12mm and 8mm high, 20thou plastic. The corners are .9mm brass wire and are 10mm long/high. They are painted with Humbrol No 15 Midnight Blue and 'rusted' with Vallejo Red Leather, followed with weathering with black/brown powders and matt varnish (Humbrol aerosol). They are similar in shape to a few Vauxhalls of the period, like this Victor FD, but not that close.
  19. Good progress on the FY, but not so good progress on the mug of tea...
  20. Just watched the Top Gear 'Worst car' DVD, spent more time watching for roads I recognised rather than the cars...

      Well done, do enjoy it.

  22. Nothing says 70's more than a Mkiii Cortina, they have passed into legend through the likes of The Sweeny* and latterly Life on Mars... also my Dad had one, it looked very much like the LoM one. So, here's two. I've added mirrors and radio aerials, followed by a gentle weathering and matt varnish. And an Austin A40 and a Mkii Cortina. These have also had a little mud splatter behind the wheel arches - should help feed the tin worm... *Ok, it was a Consul but pretty much the same thing.
