  1. Maybe Hattons and DJ Models could hop on this Express if indeed Hornby are doing a King... Would get some of my pennies anyway.
  2. I'm hoping not, I want something silver! (Well, the valances can stay for that obviously.)
  3. Very sad news. Never had the pleasure of knowing the chap but the only thing more inspirational than his layout was his fighting spirit and courage. Condolences to his family and friends.
  4. Class member 59 003 is returning to the UK from Germany to work for GBRF according to wnxx.
  5. Can anyone recommend a suitable DCC chip for these beasts? I stuck a standard Lenz into mine and after a couple of hours one of the loco's motors (at the front) gave up the ghost. I thought it was a motor issue as the rear motor was still working correctly. However, I switched it back to DC to test before returning it to Hattons and it ran perfectly. So it looks like a chip issue (or possibly a PCB issue?) I recalled that before the loco failed the chip wasnt responding to my commands (slowing down, speeding up etc.) as quick as it should too. just wondering what experiences people were having when it came to DCC and decoders that work well with them?
  6. Something is always better than nothing. If the basic shape and dimensions are right, it runs properly and it looks like the stock in question then that's the most important basis. I can super detail if I wish.
  7. Which are old Stanier coaches painted LNER silver. HIDEOUS!!!
  8. Oh please god yes! Rapido Silver Jubilee coaches would be unbelievable. I'd dearly love the stock to go behind my Silver Link.
  9. Would be great but I think I read somewhere that a Hornby Limited Edition commission is 1,000 units. That's a lot for most places to take on in the current climate I would imagine.
  10. I would duly kill for a super detail Apple Green Hornby version. They looked stunning in apple green. Mick's model above is testament to that.
  11. Mallard in Garter Blue Silver Link in Silver Merlin in BR Experimental Purple (Yes, I know the lining is the wrong colour) Kingfisher BR Express Blue Have an old tender driver Mallard in BR Green which may get comet treatment sometime.
  12. I've drunkenly bought the odd thing on EBay but I've never tried to sell anything on it whilst under the influence!
  13. lol as the youth would say http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOXED-EX-WORKS-GREY-LIVERY-DCC-SOUND-FITTED-Heljan-BR-CLASS-52-DIESEL-D1000-/380921325992?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item58b0ae29a8 weathered too, apparently.
  14. Eh? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heljan-OO-Gauge-3502-Class-35-Diesel-Locomotive-Hymek-D7036-in-BR-Blue-/201013373198 Ah well at least you get a two month warranty.
  15. Hopefully they realised that this 'design clever' lark was a folly and have decided to make it to an A4, B1, 01 standard after all. Doubt it mind...
  16. And a growth of 3D printing as the technology progresses and improves. Mixed with photoetching of grills and whitemetal details it could keep smaller suppliers of detail parts in business and get people who would normally run away from most kits interested and involved. Either way, interesting times ahead.
  17. I remember this edition of RM and it had a similar impact on me. I fell in love with Herculaneum Dock too. Must do my best to see it in the flesh some day.
  18. Thanks Bryan, such things frighten the bejesus out of me, so I'd be interested to see this setup!
  19. Excellent! I would be very interested to see how you DCC a kit built loco before I get stuck into doing one myself!
  20. Does any kit maker do suitable rolling stock for these? Would be interested in building a train based on their later lives, say late '50s up to withdrawal.
  21. Plenty of grunt in a Baby Deltic. There are some steep inclines on this layout and I reckon she could've pulled more
  22. I still reckon a 59/0 would've piddled all over a 60 on such an assignment. May as well have used a 66 as use a 59/2.
  23. Interesting that they changed their packaging recently. For the worse it seems....
