  1. After many months of deliberating I've decided that DCC sound is not for me. Stealth locos from now on!

  3. Top job. While I just can't warm to the big Thompsons I do love that livery.
  4. Hope they do and go for golden ochre. It's an awesome livery, the Western's best IMHO.
  5. One from across the Irish Sea.... http://www.adverts.ie/other-antiques-collectables/vintage-lima-00-scale-no-1-electric-right-point/2905911
  6. He was also Charly the cat a bit later on in life.
  7. Class 37s, 56s and 58s have been used in France and Spain in recent years of course.
  8. Some very amateur pics of the blue one.
  9. My blue Western has showed up this side of the Irish Sea this morning thanks to Hattons. I must say I'm blown away with just how good it looks, the fit and finish and the quality feel of the product itself. On that basis it has the Heljan loco licked. I won't get to test performance for another week or two but it will be put through its paces on a very demanding layout. If it's up to scratch there then I'll be buying more! All my brake rigging was in place and no detail was broken off. Well done Dapol!
  10. As Heljan continue to release the odd 47 despite the ViTrains and Bachmann models I'd say they'll keep doing their Westerns. I have one Heljan and a BR blue Dapol loco on the way. I will assess the new arrival and make up my mind then. Running quality is a big factor for me (as important as anything, possibly even the most important thing to me) and the Heljan Wizzo I have is tough to beat.
  11. Just had an email from hattons confirming the dispatch of the Blue Wizzo! Looking forward to it along with my new orange 071!
  12. It has been pointed out elsewhere that the new 43 is new tooling. I reckon we will see an upgraded body with correct prototype fidelity, upgraded detail to match current releases and hopefully mated to the current Warship drivetrain which is superb.
  13. Decorated sample pictures on Model Rail's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/modelrail?fref=ts O Scale Wizzo and 00 original Baby Deltic featured too.
  14. Yes, there is a picture of D5711 in plain green with the revised front windows on this site. http://nicwhe8.freehostia.com/d5705/start.html Unfortunately it wont let me link directly, so you have to go to the gallery on the toolbar on the left hand side, go to page two and it's the 1st picture. And yes, only one CoBo went blue. HTH.
  15. The blue ones must be close for release? Can't wait to get mine! All these pics have me planning some weathering!
  16. What is more of a pity is that the examples you cite (Hornby diesels) are ruined by the woeful coupling mechanisms which do not function correctly. I for one am glad Dapol didn't go down this road. On the loco itself all I can saw is wow! It is stunning!
  17. I better play a blinder in that job interview on Wednesday if I want to stock up on some new Hornby goodies.

  18. Erm, think I'll pass. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-00-GAUGE-VINTAGE-MODEL-RAILWAY-SET-TRAIN-CARRIAGES-TRANSFORMER-BOXED-/380515789398?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5898822a56
  19. Thank God for Paddy Murphy is all I can say. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160922281024
  20. Is loving the new Murphy Models 071s!

  21. Any chance you could grab some pics of them? Also, report back on how they performed through points etc? I think mine just picks up on one bogie per motor, and with sound that bogie stops and goes through the whole start-up process when it hits a dead spot, so the motor isn't turning. Meanwhile the other motor is pushing or pulling along. A bit of a pain really.
  22. And some pics And to show the size of the brute, lined up beside a smaller GM product, albeit on that's OO gauge...
  23. Well mine arrived a few weeks back, video of her in action
  24. Just got my dud SP GS4 back from BLI and after a lengthy list of operations I'm glad to say it seems to be working again. A test run on a big layout is in order.

  25. Starting to get the hang of this soldering lark. One chassis remotored!

Ouch, it has fallen on my lap, thankfully not near the important stuff and I was wearing trousers at the time!
