  1. Hi @Neil, Apologies, nobody on this thread has said they’ve used such an old controller, it was just a previous support case I saw where a 50 year old clipper was used (with a DCC concepts volt meter) and in the video showed a spike of 27.9 volts into an Accurascale loco. We’ve seen a few cases where thoroughly ancient (and possibly unsafe due to age) controllers were used, so thought it was worth mentioning as they have a habit of causing spikes. We’ve reached out to the folk at sprog too to assist their customer having issues. We are also compiling a list of controllers we do not recommend using on our locomotives and will publish it on our website and include in future literature in new locos. We believe our friends at Rapido do this too. Cheers! Fran
  2. Hi SRman, Would a laptop adapter provide enough amps? We're not sure it would be. Could be the issue? Cheers! Fran
  3. Hi Peter, We most certainly will produce a 37 in that condition in a future run! Cheers! Fran
  4. Hi @CazRail, Very glad to be of assistance. We find when there is a QC issue that has resulted in a loco failure it is either a rogue motor or the DCC decoder has gone pop. Very occasionally a loose wiring connection but those could be counted on one hand. A fault occurring on the user side is almost always a voltage issue with layout, either not enough, or way too much. Occasionally too there is something plugged into the layout that should not be. The way too much voltage is very much the cause of using ancient controllers which leak and see massive voltage spikes. Cheers! Fran
  5. Hi Phil, My apologies, I should have been clearer. The oleo fitted locos will have silver, the other buffer variants will not as per prototype. Cheers! Fran
  6. Hi everyone, Obviously there is a lot of excitement around the 37/6s arriving on layouts, and the original pilot batch are on the high seas are to come next month, but we have also received decorated samples for run 2 recently and they are now in production. Full update and some snazzy snaps of them right here: https://www.accurascale.com/blogs/news/class-37-run-two-decorated-samples-are-here-full-update Cheers! Fran
  7. Hi Al, We do built in prototypical speeds (plus a little bit of interest in places such as the Deltic as they had a few spirited runs beyond their 100mph permitted speed) so they do differ from loco to loco. Cheers! Fran
  8. Hi @Geordielad, We are always happy to help anyone who has any issues with any Accurascale product as best we can. Just for balance, we have put literally tens of thousands of locomotives with this drive train on the market over 2 years now, and tens of thousands run spot on. They also spent 6 weeks running day in, day out for 8 hours a day on Making Tracks 3 without issue, other than the bufferbeam detail falling off that we stuck on with poor glue! These are very much isolated issues, and as demonstrated on the previous page with the youtube video the answer can be found elsewhere concerning controllers, connectivity, voltage etc. Each situation can be unique. No manufacturer is immune to the odd rogue loco. It is always interesting that some customers have failure with every loco from a particular brand they receive. Is that really really bad luck, or could there be an issue on the layout that's causing it? It's not playing the blame game, it's getting to the bottom of the issue so a customer can enjoy their models without headaches. We always work to diagnose as best we can, and why we recommend always to talk to our support team. After all, we have locos with more advanced electronics inside than many that have gone before, so comparing them to others when they are different under the hood isn't always the best way to look at it. And nobody knows the inside of our locos better than our support team, Please reach out via email if you have an issue, we are here to help. Cheers! Fran
  9. Hi @spamcan61, With all due respect the issue that affected the Heljan Class 17 first run was a manufacturing issue that affected all models in that batch. There are literally thousands of 37s out in the wild now not displaying this issue above. It is very likely an isolated issue. Cliff is in contact with our warranty team and we will endeavour to get to the bottom of it as best we can. Cheers! Fran
  10. Hi Andrew, Many thanks for clearing that up. As I said previously, if you could send me a direct message, or email us, I will put you in touch with our tech folk so we can work to resolve the issue your customer is facing and advise people accordingly. Many thanks, Fran
  11. Hi Andrew, Great to hear from you. We have had a customer contact us about using a sprog and having an issue previously. We worked with him to resolve the issue (which we have) as you can see in the following video they posted on youtube. Basically, we found that the draw of our locomotives will be at the high end and the ESU decoders, stayalives etc need a decent amount of voltage to work properly. Therefore a 14 volt system is needed. The customer in the video above had a sprog two which went to 12 volts, so it was replaced by a sprog 3 of 14 volts which means all is well now. For the decoder, as with many of the European DCC systems, ESU’s track voltage requirements tend to be at the higher end. Their ECoS system generally operates at 15-21V. A 12 volt system is fine for reading and writing the address, but we find our locos need a bit more juice on DCC. If you would like to discuss further, please email us support@accurascale.co.uk or send me a direct message so we can put you in touch with our technical support and development team which will give you more info and insight than I can. HTH Cheers! Fran
  12. Hi Geordielad, How old is the transformer you are using when this occurred? Also do you use a relco track cleaner or anything that has feedback? If several locos have gone wrong it points to something occuring in power supply rather than the locos themselves, as nobody can be that unlucky with duff motors. I am not a technician myself, so I would recommend re-opening the chat with Simon via email as he would have better expertise in diagnosing and assisting you than me (or most people on RMWeb as he knows the locos inside out at this stage) Cheers! Fran
  13. Hi @Haverail, We are in the process of shipping out direct orders. 608 was extremely popular and overall we have several thousand pre-orders to ship with the 37/6s. As you can imagine this takes time. Thank you for your understanding and patience. We aim to finish by the end of this week. Cheers! Fran
  14. Hi @Geordielad, If you reach out to our support team support@accurascale.co.uk with your issue they would be delighted to help and adivse. Cheers! Fran
  15. Hi Eric, Indeed, thanks to everyone who put in a preorder to support this! We will publish the “final score” when the stock arrives but we’re delighted where we ended up! Would you folks like to see more of these initiatives from us? Please let us know! Cheers! Fran

  20. Hi @zr2498, Retailer orders are currently being packed up and sent out. As stated earlier this week two of this batch was kept back in customs which have now arrived with us. These locos are now with us so we can start releasing trade orders after the QC checks are complete as of today. It also takes a week at the very least to get all these orders out to everyone including to trade due to the sheer popularity of the models. Appreciate the patience as always everyone! Cheers! Fran
  21. Hi @50025 I threw it out there in a planning meeting this afternoon. I was asked “which version” and I could see a migraine developing. I’ll keep trying 🤣. Cheers! Fran
  22. Hi there, Actually, the big speaker is already in the Class 92s so all you need is the sound decoder to plug in. Cheers! Fran

Cheers! Fran
  24. Hi everyone, My, it’s getting a bit hot in here. First of all, apologies, in the last 10 days or so there has indeed been a lack of communication regarding the balance of the manors on our part and for that I would like to apologise on behalf of Accurascale. As mentioned above, the previous emails with information we have put out on manor ETA times have all been wrong to date. These timelines are fundamentally based on what the factory has told us, and in this case they have misinformed us on the ETA. We are unhappy about this as we pass on the information to you in good faith, and as a result you end up frustrated and we end up looking like liars. It’s been incredibly frustrating for us. We frankly had our fill of this two weeks ago about the arrival of the manor, so we did not communicate the latest update as we felt “we would believe it when we see it”. Hence the silence this week. The good news is however is that our logistics company has been contacted by the factory, which is a sure fire sign that they are actually ready to leave the factory. This was on Friday, but a full schedule would not be confirmed for us until early this coming week. So, simply put, they’re ready to leave the factory, they will come by air, but we don’t know precise details yet. Until we know they have been picked up and are out of the factory, any timeline we give you will not be accurate. However, that whole process usually takes about 10 days to delivery in our warehouse. Regarding customer constructive feedback. We of course take it on board, but I think it is best is stuff like website functionality is perhaps emailed to us so it can be forwarded to our tech guys? I don’t want to backseat moderate but it likely doesn’t belong in a forum about our manors and if the right people do not get to see the information (and not all our employees read RMWeb, sorry @AY Mod!) then the effort in providing the feedback is wasted, and we don’t want that either. Anyway, I hope this helps clear things up, and ultimately the balance of the manors are done and on the way, and if you have feedback, please send it onto us support@accurascale.co.uk. Back to flooring the living room. Cheers! Fran
  25. Hi @derekdoestrains, ROG and one of the DRS machines did not get released by customs with the others, but are due to land at the warehouse on Tuesday. In the meantime the rest are being shipped out. We should be finished getting them out by the end of the current week. Cheers! Fran
