Sweet Little Mystery …. Wet wet wet
-
Will keep hunting for evidence! Meanwhile here’s the two opens finished…. And then there’s project bananas…. Mostly Dapol bodies on Red Panda clasp brake chassis but with a few added Peco ones…. That’s 19 done in total…. Enough once some Accurascale ones arrive too . Motive power for an Avonmouth to Brum banana special …. How about a pair of 25s? Thanks to Brian Thomas for that one. And also a thanks to @D860 VICTORIOUS for the offer of transfers - didnt need to take it up as already over stocked from Fox and @railtec-models - but the kind offer was appreciated.

Haven’t done much with rolling stock through the summer as spent a lot of time in the Pirton layout. Now that’s been shown it’s back to my own layout and stock. Banana vans nearly finished … will post when done… but here’s a little fill in project. Timber bodied opens were disappearing in the 60s/70s but there were still a few around. According to Paul Bartlett’s super collection of photos the old Mainline BR bauxite 5 plank open was an Ex SR wagon vacuum fitted by BR. I quite like the body but not the chassis…. So project is to fit a Peco Ex PD 10ft chassis , detailing includes buffers, vacuum cylinder and draw hooks from Lanarkshire Models, axle box ties from Cambrian and brass brake cross shaft, plus NEM pockets and Bachmann couplings. Original subject and modified version, Not painted yet to show detailing….

There must be an easy solution for that… they were present much earlier . Wonder if @railtec-models Steve could do a rivet transfer? Phil -
And very comfy they are too! The bigger loading gauge makes all the difference…

The 'Hymek Swansong' Railtour - 22nd September 1973
Phil Bullock replied to Halvarras's topic in Diesel Hydraulic Group
Great narrative and photos thanks for sharing. The Hymeks were well thought of at Worcester and were stalwarts of the Cotswolds line ably supporting and supported by NBL warships and those Brush type 4 thingies. We won’t lower the tone of the occasion by mentioning the Type 2s from the same stable. Double headers? Of course there was a Bromsgrove banking pair. But for working a train there’s the Cardiff Tidal - Soho Pool tanks which would double up in the early days of the class if the load required it. There’s a Michael Mensing picture of a pair at Norton junction on this train. And of course it’s the Severn Valley diesel gala next weekend …. Lots of oil sloshers …. D1015/62, D821/32, D9551 and D7076 working, D1013/48 and D7029 on display. What a shame D7017/8 couldn’t make it but there may even be banking out of Bridgnorth. Will be there on the Wednesday weather depending as it’s the last week of the trout tickling season… Happy days! -

Hi Fran Looking great! Just one comment based on your full update…. Why are the buffer shanks not going to be silver? See 6986 and a couple of others on Brush Veterans super photos … Here …. In my memory those round oleo shanks certainly were shiny! An easy fix with paint if they emerge as brown/black as you suggest but just wondering why? Cheers Phil -
As applied at Aberystwyth by Danny Rowlands cleaners …. Hence known as “Danny’s Bull”

That’s probably the best call … if it bothers them whoever buys it can sort out…

Boiler room grille is easily covered with plasticard if that’s your show stopper….
