Looking great! Just one comment based on your full update…. Why are the buffer shanks not going to be silver? See 6986 and a couple of others on Brush Veterans super photos … Here …. In my memory those round oleo shanks certainly were shiny!
An easy fix with paint if they emerge as brown/black as you suggest but just wondering why?

In my experience with taking stock to exhibitions the biggest risk to detail is to keep them in the original packing. There are much better options available….
Probably a bit early yet…. And with recent mild winters they tend to be more active all year. Best to leave food for them over winter in case it’s needed…,
Rails now showing as due September/October for D6352. Artwork is still a photo of D6326 so not possible to judge if drivers name card holders are present or not…
That Shackleton footage is excellent. There was some B17 footage on YouTube too but can’t find that any more. Although we don’t have air shows any more there’s still a fair bit of interesting traffic… supposed to be a Hurricane this Saturday…

I made a herring sized rectangular mould from timber and started each load with a base of card mounting board. Added another shorter and narrower layer of board on top with a neodymium magnet in the middle. Then added Atwood Aggregates fine ballast on top until I was happy and soaked it with daily shower spray followed by ballast bond glue. Corners cut off base to clear any handrail wire protruding through to inside of hopper.
Wagons are weighted to a tare of 30 g with liquid lead … hopefully not too conspicuous when running empty.
Loads weigh 10g and sit down to the point where the hopper taper begins. Very happy with their gross weight at 40 g although 1661 struggled with 20 of them …. Happy with 17 though! Ran very well on both Pirton and the new Abbotswood layout.
