  1. Was going to post this picture in response to Phil's query But on a closer look I reckon those are Lowmacs not Warwells carrying Ashchurch vehicles northbound through Worcester Shrub Hill However am sure warwells and warflats appeared in trains with other wagons on this traffic Phil
  2. With D5098 selling out quickly does that suggest that a production series GSYP Derby built loco would be a very popular option? Phil
  3. Don't wait too long if you fancy any of the current ones ....they seem to be rightly popular! Phil
  4. Tractors on Carflats .....another marketing opportunity for Oxford Models? Phil
  5. Really enjoyed watching this on Sunday...many thanks all, excellent layout Phil
  6. Its in the projects queue ....but planning to batch them so theres a batch of 5 - 2 warships, peak, brush 4 and this baby - waiting for me to find my mojo.... Phil

  11. See Oxford web site http://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/products/carflat-br-or76car001 Phil
  12. Hi Dave More brilliant shots! Think you probably have guessed already - that Peak in J2376 isn't 127 which had split centre headcodes, https://www.flickr.com/photos/21602076@N05/8173156111/in/photolist-dseyyF-oTDdfV-pbx6Xs-5Vsx7R-pWMd3n-p6JqrS-qUqCP1-9NGKrb-jj6j8s-aFaZeV-qCCXMQ-qCm2wP-aVt7vM-psNfCm-pvhaWK-nYybzH-5Axiq4-aVtjX4-nEhre9-pDuekZ-aVt5Nk-9NJybd-6PLhmT-nXp4Ms-qBrmRp-nXp41s-nEhr5S-nYmJcU-9NFVNX-qTMJeM-pvVRHf-nYtmKV-nFnHLu-aVx3nF-bxhxJV-aVx2PR-9NEwpU-nVtbP1-aEjP9H-aVsZAx-asXSv-nFYY11-nEhbqa-jeursZ-qBjY2z-ehp7uM-4NEsAu-qCkV3g-4iQKFh-oicfnr not split box as that loco has. Sorry cant be any more specific! And a synchronous post with Paul! Phil
  13. Most certainly not unloved by the Worcester spotters. But we weren't that knowledgeable about operating issues then were we! Phil
  14. An interesting set of perspectives. Many non railway friends were surprised when I said I would not be going to this event. Whilst Scotsman is an iconic loco its latest restoration - whilst in no way to be belittled in itself - is perhaps in some ways less worthy of merit than the building of Tornado. So for me if there is a really significant event over the weekend then for me its the carriages, which too often are neglected in terms of publicity - and both an A1 and an A3 have been seen many times since 1964 - but not a 9 coach Gresley teak rake. The SVR Charitable Trust and the LNER (SVR) Coach Fund deserve hearty congratulations thanks and support.... Phil
  15. Those look stunning.....thanks for sharing Andy Couplings a bit protrusive perhaps - NEM pockets but are they bogie mounted - or is there a close coupling mechanism? Edit...Did wonder about those round buffers - would the end ramps go flat over them - but Paul Bartlett's site confirms they are correct for vehicles built on LMS chassis http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brmotorail/h26bd9bfa#h26bd9bfa Phil
  16. For a while have looked at the speaker installation on this loco. Its neat - but sound output not good, poor acoustics as the sound path from front and rear of speaker are not separately contained resulting in destructive interference and therefore reduced sound volume. Answer? a Blu-tack gasket And in situ Result....double the volume for 5 mins work Hee hee I don't trust the rubbing strip speaker connections either so I hard wire them on long leads to keep body removal easy Phil
  17. Theres inflation for you - used to be 6d behind a Warship!
  18. Hi Paul Just touching base to check you know all data panels are blue? Cheers Phil
  19. Yes Autumn is here - and that means grayling fishing on the river Wye for a week This year with Jimbo and Downendian, also non railway friends Sandy Geyer and John Smith Only question is....how many bottles do we need to take? Phil
  20. Smashing! 1960s with hydraulics - What could be better? Certainly bringing home the bacon here Clive... Phil
  21. Thanks Mark Interesting take on the headcode - Did many north bound trains have A headcodes? Always thought that was London bound.... Phil
  22. Hi Dave More smashing photos ... Apologies but a spanner in the loco works again... J705 D1588 was a WR loco so was surprised - but not impossible - to see her at York on a KX - Newcastle - displaying wrong headcode too? Edit - corrected by Mark , see below Phil However D1588 was built with 3piece fixed rad grilles and still had them when she went to GFYE - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/67444577@N02/7263947944/in/photolist-c4TCDN-a93qjB-5t8Kk9-54e2Wv-55udoa-hUg7o5-Mtjmd-2995Tq-b9tqSx-ENBcxW-behiu2-7TC83p-6MjAHk-cHEd5o-cHEd85-anTxnX-NBEz7-NBEzm-anW9Nf-dXQJpq-93SSPC-e1rRny-299hu3-cHE4K1-dYZXeW-8Qbcp6-a2hiyq-aERrrD-7TC7xn-e1sbYA-r6KNHw-Mtjmh-r6KNPy-7TC95K-dXR48A-r6KNQA-2995Rq-7TC9mF-aES6Yg-299hxE-dZ17nh-auj27D-aujodX-6PPRdH-ag4FTh-e1rRo9-behjFk-GwmjrE-7zVZ8e-NBEyY The Serck grilles as fitted to the loco in the photo are correct for D1988 which was an ECML machine - and on scrutinising the enlarged photo would suggest that is the loco in your photo. Wonder if you agree? Kind regards Phil
