Hi There
The bogied wagon is a diesel brake tender - introduced to address a perceived lack of brake power in diesel locos when compared to steam. Don't think the class 37 in the photo in question is in particular need but they often accompanied a loco throughout an operating diagram so may be the loco is about to or has been working a heavy unfitted freight.
Hornby mag have commissioned one - see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64001-Hornby-magazine-oo-gauge-brake-tender/page-1for much more info
Kind regards
Phil
Thanks Dave
Brush veterans pictures are always my first go to but it wasn't on there
So 5557 it is - but have now seen 5561 in the same livery at Gloucester on the other thread having worked down on 6V88 so it will be that one for us!
Thanks again - and also to Johnny777

Hi Dave
I see that the 31 in green and arrows under the cab has a tentative identity of D5557 - has another photo emerged or is that from analysis of the gem you have already shared with us?
Kind regards
Phil
Cheers Clive
Yup found plenty of pictures of them around The Cross in the early days as you say - the doors must have been a later mod. I hope that loco isn't one of the tablet catcher fitted series as IIRC they didn't tend to wander much and would like to model that some time in future
Cheers

Fantastic shot. We are at the limit of resolution but is that one of the Immingham locos with the tablet catcher recess in the drivers door? If so that limits it to a small number of locos in the D567x number range and they were allocated to these workings
Kind regards
Phil
We are on the Freebie DVD with this months Hornby mag - thanks Mike & Trevor!
And see Post 40 in http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/11898-Hornby-class-31-modifications/page-2for progress on the 31
Cheers

Stowmarket station? Now theres a memory jerker! Anyone else on here on the ill fated East Anglian Railtour in the 70s? The local Stowmarket chippie didn't know what hit them when the train was terminated there rather than running on to Lowestoft.

These are some very special photos Chris
Not only did you capture steam's last breaths but rarely you also captured the rest of the scene - the Clayton and Co-Bo at Carnforth are pricelss
Many many thanks for sharing them.
Phil
Ha ha some joker on youtube posted to say I had very nicely manicured hands in one of our videos
Obviously hadn't been making etched brass signals at the time....
Phil
Not easy but I think I am with Chris on the first vehicle
The pattern of door hinges is right and that looks like a suggestion of a white roof dome at the far end
Cant say about the second vehicle though!
Phil
Cheers Mike
I wanted to try and make the grampus picture in to Worcester too - looks like the NCL depot in the background - but I cant square up the windows, the roller shutter door and the roof line, see the shot of 08778 above.
Phil
Picture 14 definitely Worcester Shrub Hill goods yard - that's Tunnel Junction Signal Box above the Gane with Railway Walk on the skyline - the entrance to Rainbow Hill Tunnel is in the cutting off to the right.
