  1. Cheers Mike I guess the Valley Men's opinion was coloured by the ability to stop loaded coal trains going down hill!!! Rather different to working a Worcester - Padd or Portsmouth - Cardiff Its always fascinating to hear the view from the professionals. IIRC weren't there instances of Hymeks twisting their cardans as a result of over - enthusiastic power applications? Phil

  4. Couldn't have you thinking we have been slacking all weekend! Heres the first batch of dia 100 Hornby hoppers weathered - nearly good to go Now we plainly haven't done some of the detail changes that other folks are doing on these - we need a train load ready for Trainwest, variety for us will come with the PD fitted/unfitted versions yet to be built Need to get these - and 5528 - off the workbench to make room for the PD production line Cheers Phil

  8. Ah Reading! Still Mecca as late as 76 for Wizzo bashers - only down side was had to endure journey behind a gutless 31 from Worcester to get there You never knew what might turn up either - eg a 40 on cartics one evening - but the Westerns were the main event no doubt Phil

  14. Certainly did - had a cracking day out behind D7009 through there 69/70 on an Adex from Worcester en route to Bournemouth A perpetuation of through workings to Bournemouth by WR steam on similar workings I guess Cheers Phil

Phew glad we got that sorted - was starting to analyse body side dings to compare photos how sad! - she has been swiped at the far end, other photos reveal two parallel dings on the drivers end one of which appears to have taken off the works plate. AN argument with a wagon left past a siding clearing point perhaps? Phil

  23. Cheers Brian - there are 3 slope siders in the rake, was contemplating marking them up as condemned for one journey only.... Think they had pretty well gone by 1970? Phil
