  1. Kings Lynn and Gt Yarmouth are another two in my area - was at the latter only yesterday and points, rodding and lever frame still extant with no sign of any shunt signals. And the home signal shows a yellow (correctly) reading to the buffer stops (not a stop board).
  2. Sadly, I'll not be able to visit, as I will be at the Friends of March Railway Station model railway exhibition with a friends layout. But I hope it all goes well for you.
  3. So that would mean that any shunting movements beyond the starter on the platform, and beyond the creamery point (such as run-round moves), onto the single line would occupy the block section (to the next block post) and would be outside of station limits. So a lot more ding-ding-dings by the signalman.
  4. Maybe sticking my neck out a bit here, but.... I don't think ANY trap points are necessarily required. The point on the loop leading to the creamery and cattle dock would be one of a pair, the second of the pair would be the one on the main line outside the signalbox - a crossover in effect. At the other end of the loop, all points could/would be hand worked. As incoming passenger trains would stop with the front coach clear of the left-most point (otherwise the engine could not run round), then any trap points that end would not be necessary. As for the signalling, a starter on the right-hand end of the platform, with an assumed advance starter AND an assumed incoming home signal (for the platform line) and a small arm or ground signal (for the loop/yard). To complete the picture, a YELLOW ground signal at the toe-end of the right-hand point on the loop. Given the size constraits of the area, I would be very surprised if there was more than one loco present at any one time.
  5. I recall AY mentioning this before. Click on your user name (the very top right), then, under settings, click account settings. Then in the menu on the left hand side, click content view behaviour, select your choice and click save. However, having said that, I am still having the same issues LOL Try clicking the up arrow in a black circle, extreme bottom right. That takes you to the top of the page without having to scroll.
  6. Thanks beejack, those pictures could be very helpful. I'll dig out the unit and have a look.
  7. Yes, wish I'd kept all my TOPS paperwork. Now all I have to reply on is my memory LOL
  8. Nice to see a train list again. Takes me back to the days when I worked in Cambridge/Ipswich/Whitemoor TOPS offices.
  9. Just a quick public thank-you to Nearholmer for the baseboards which I collected today. Good to meet you K.
  10. Yes, I suffer with that too at times LOL But originally, before posting, I had tried that but the second car came up with error 2 (on a Lenz 100 system). Interestingly @WIMorrison, sometimes the cars seem to fight but mostly not. Shutting off the speed and trying again usually fixes that.
  11. Think I'd better start saving. From looking at the first lot of releases, I think I want, nay, NEED 5 of them.
  12. I have the Realtrack 156 with 2 x loksound v5 speakers (as supplied) and all was well until I wanted to change the decoders addresses from the default '3'. I drove the unit onto the loop which doubles as the programming track, went into programming mode and did the necessary. But back out of programming mode, the 2 cars now want to go in different directions to each other. I tried seperating the cars and turning one of them the other way round and programming them again but with the same result. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong - obviously I'm having a senior moment here.
  13. Signal B, as in the diagram immediately above, would show a yellow and the lower right-hand white light when 'on'. Both white lights for 'off' (to be able to exit the yard onto the main).
  14. Unrelated to the OP's question, but can you tell me please @horsehay where that little station building came from?
  15. Thanks Darius, good to know it can be done. As I have never tried doing this sort of thing before, could you tell me which Bachmann DMU you used - and was it the complete chassis or just the motor bogie? And were there any particular pitfalls to be aware of? I'm not too bothered about underframe detail just as long as I can get the unit running (on DCC).
  16. Just two minor observations. First, the blue marked points are TRAP points, not CATCH points. Second, signal 0 I think you mean ... to allow shunts into the loop, up or down. Otherwise, I concur totally.
  17. I'm trying to DCC my Trix Trans-Pennine unit and I'm not having much luck. Has anyone DCC'd such a unit please? (And who would care to tell how they did it).
  18. Hi. I'm Dave, a 66 year old lifelong train and model railway enthusiast. Myself and a few friends are building 'Whitedown Junction', a freelance 'BR Blue*' OO gauge layout set somewhere down South where the Southern and Western regions meet. We have a Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/WhitedownJn and a couple of videos on YouTube - just search for Whitedown Junction. Now the point of this post is simply we want more people involved! Due to where some of our group live, and because of other commitments, not everyone can make every meeting, and sometimes it's only two of us. We are going to need more than that if we are ever going to get WDJ to exhibitions :-) We also would like more help getting the layout out of storage and setting up, and taking it down and putting it back when we've finished. We generally meet once a month, in Ely (Cambridgeshire), on a Saturday, between 0800ish until anywhere between 1500 and 1800, depending on when we've had enough. We are not a club or society, there are NO fees to pay, no membership, no hall hire etc. etc. The layout itself is built, all the trackwork is down, and it is controlled by DCC. The locos and rolling stock are our own, as is the Nelevator and DCC equipment. Otherwise, stuff (scenery, buildings etc.) on the layout simply belongs to the layout. We had a bit of a hiatus during the Covid lockdown, naturally, but fortunately the layout came out of it unscathed. So now it's time to finish off the layout, start to play trains, and look forward to taking it out. So if you are located near enough, are interested in BR Blue*, like the Southern or Western regions, have a skill you'd be willing to share with us, or simply you like playing trains AND will be willing to come and help us at exhibitions, then please get in touch, initially by PMing me on here, and then we can switch to email or Facebook as necessary. * BR Blue - that includes stuff up to NSE and even later when 'Rule 1' applies :-)
  19. Can I just say, in relation to the diagram by Nigelcliffe, that IRL you would not have a green signal followed by a red, as in the case of the first two signals on the left.
  20. A FLIRT and the blue 31 for me.
  21. Well, to be honest, I wouldn't want or buy any of those listed in the poll.
  22. Is the master list (first post) being updated?
  23. Well done Stewart, good to see you're using the 'correct' name LOL To those not in the know, Hunstanton is locally pronounced 'Hunston' as in the layout name.
  24. I guess Hornby use these clips to carry the power [see an earlier diagram] to both routes from the point. Whereas, AFAIK, most people use droppers [down to the power bus] after the points and not reply on those clips.
