  1. Sounds like Methalated Spirit dries clean on metal. White Spirit aka Turps, will leave everything greasy to the touch.
  2. No not seats, one of the two in the kit, is on the right in the photo. The small boxes have been i.d as fitted too the sides of the Firebox at the base, looking at photos it appears to confirm the earlier post above. Re the "stumps" The kit had no castings so who knows ! Someone elsewhere has suggested smokebox door straps , they look to big to me.
  3. I would imagine so re ebay £20 for the etches for Loco and Chassis, at least one more set has been on there since. I have a Oxford J27 tender for it to pull in due course already. Firebox sides sounds a good idea !! Thanks I will check in due course, once!! I get the Chassis finished 🤐
  4. A much more "interesting" kit has just been started. A etches only Falcon Brass J24 sourced via ebay, no instruction or castings or even frame spacers were supplied , luckily it was cheap. I have made a start on the chassis and naively didnt check the dimensions first. As you can see the etched holes for the centre drivers are not inline by about 1mm, luckily I checked before going any further. The wayward Axle Bush has now been moved to the correct position. The Body etch , one set of tags and two lines for the valances , the rest is guesswork. Luckily as the tags provided are for the Cab Front I can postion the Boiler etc quite easily in due course. I have managed to i.d all the Body parts other than the three items on the centre/left in the photo below. Two appear to fold up into two boxes. The other item looks like Cricket Stumps with the centre Stump missing. Anyone have any ideas as what they are ??.
  5. We beg to differ . Quoting a Dictionary is nothing to do with anything I wrote , a very simple common word to me , that describes something that could have been done better if a bit more time had been taken. Perhaps less criticism of other peoples builds may help in the future ?. I'm off.
  6. Tony, Where have I ever said "Terrible, Frightful or Rough for any of your builds ?. I have commented on your useage of motors/gearboxes oversized for the kit you have built where they fill; the cab etc, and other minor points none with such terms ever being used. On this occasion your model had no Brakes fitted, only what I presume are the hangers on view and the word "Ugh" for the 1980's or earlier valve gear. You have made numerous comments re faults on my models in the past on here , normally on re very minor aspects, I have read the same on other peoples builds as well !!. The last posted on this thread by yourself was relating to photos of some of my Thompson Pacifics builds, where you queried whether they were built straight, you even asked for further 3/4 views of the same models . I posted other photos proving they were indeed straight , sadly you never responded any further either way with any further viewpoint. You then have said recently its ok on another post on here "that it does'nt matter if things are'nt that straight on occasions". I have no problem with any constructive criticisms that come either way on here or elsewhere . They are useful on further builds, if they are not possible to be rectified, on the particular build in question. The Valve Gear on your latest build is sorry, poor quality hence "Ugh" and reflects 1980's or even earlier standards whenever they were actually made. Comments re hiding with weathering is not good advice for other modellers. I still have a dislike or the excuse of "layout" useage for any faults. It gives the wrong impression to many other model builder, as to how to build any kind of models. IMHO Regards Mick
  7. GER Horsebox. Nothing else obvious. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204428139690?hash=item2f98dddcaa:g:29IAAOSwuBNk2N7K&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAsCZeIeHurl18pTXg2HltL0CYCSkon8856juEyaEfFoBjq3pqO6EUKB34kOoxN0D8OIbCx78%2FfJc9MO4Fq%2FJZj9Q2pj6dcxOyPugurCQd4Au8f5vlsZdnqMWGxRsoLVUg%2B7GgGcoIet4MNRqvNTJSqxZS2yOYtfl8uEVT02iERztbAtKm%2Fm9gNdOBAscUF2o5TvoLSzDeBKqpfk5%2F5MgUu1boHR5J5hlI4eGjYWKOT17c|tkp%3ABk9SR8Tg88_AYg
  8. Form a orderly queue for the 2022 Wagon. Why would anyone still want one at full price, or even at a discounted price ?? .
  9. Had a similar problem for years, the Precision Paint always develops a thick top skin once the can is opened. Never had a gloopy one (so far). At least Precision Paint is the correct shade ,when you open the tin !!!.
  10. According to Humbrol this paint is Signal Red 174, the lid at least has the right shade !! Both Tins were bought within the last year, both total crap and like gloppy glue as well as the shade and still not dry after 24 hours. Revell for me from now on.
  11. A million dollar question or in Hornby's case Six . Hornby are the only ones who know that answer as already said , sadly they seem to be scratching their combined heads !! A Very sad scenario and no good will come out of it for anybody, if they dont sort it very soon. Hopefully they will .
  12. Look at the losses over years and years. This handily sums it up. https://knowledge.sharescope.co.uk/2023/07/12/is-warlord-games-a-potential-game-changer-for-Hornby/
  13. A Very simple soloution perhaps?. Hornby simply keep what actually makes money, and sell the rest off if ?? they can find any buyers. If not knock them on the head, they have far too many "Names " that are "bleeding" money big time.
  14. Plus Decent versions of the ancient Bachmann J39 and V1/3.
  15. Bachmann have done a ex L&YR /LMS /BR 2-4-2 .I doubt if there would be a demand for another one ?.
  16. As far as I know only 2400 and 2401 had the inside bearings setup fitted. The other three had a "Cartazzi" type axleboxes fitted from new . The photo is as just built for 2402. As to setting up for one Boiler variant I agree is hardly likely , however there are now a few single Locos being made , e.g W1 by Hornby. The new out P2 is only a class of five as well.
  17. Valve gear is i.d to all of the class. City of Ripon had a A1 Boiler fitted and a A1 or similar Cab and a modified Footplate for the Firebox.
  18. A very obvious choice the missing ER pacific. 5 Locos and two differrent Tenders and one using a Gresley Boiler rebuilt as well !!. https://www.lner.info/locos/A/a2.php
