  1. David , i didnt mean you !! it is a common criticism on modelling threads. The B16 is a ex Steve Barnfield kit as supplied , not a Norton. cheers Mick
  2. It seems the Cab Windows on nearly every NER Loco r.t.r and kits, has the same criticism. What is wrong with these ones ( not that I am changing them now 🍌 🫠)?
  3. I was'nt aware of any of the "omissions"that I have listed earlier in this thread until I bought the kit. None were mentioned on your build thread that I can remember . The new Footplate was good, until after fitting the Handles and Lubricators that I then found the holes were 2mm too far forward and the whole lot had to come off redrilled etc. The main reason I managed to build the Loco was that I had a copy of the 7mm Gladiator B16 instructions sent to me, which has a number of photographs and better written detailed instructions. I have spoken to John at LRM at length re the kit and he is considering a further etch with the missing parts. It also needs new better castings. I have used some Dave Bradwell parts on mine, which are of a far superior quality. The Tender on this does'nt even have the Large Round Cover for the Water Scoop supplied. John says he is making a casting for this. He claimed when I asked why none was supplied, he stated no one have ever mentioned it was missing before !!. The clearance behind the Front Steps and the Con Rods is about 1mm in OO, no idea how EM or P4 versions would ever actually work??. Combined with the lack of sideplay and the front Bogie issues , it is'nt going to like any curves in any gauge. Compared to the DJH offering, it must be better ? I presume and hope!! . The PDK kit does'nt look very good in photos either. Someone needs to offer a whole new kit, I doubt if there is the demand however. I cannot ever see a r.t.r version ever being offered.
  4. 🤪 More like a real pain in the rear end !!🫠🙃
  5. B16 ready for paint . Definately not a kit for a beginner. Clearances are all very tight. Its is not going to like curves very much !!!.
  6. 8. Hopeless sound is virtually non existent at start. 5 minutes was more than enough!!.
  9. Just found these Aerosol Cans on E bay a good list of available colours in enamel paint . Has anyone used them and any opinions please ? . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115943535049?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110025%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.COMPOSITELISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D255592%26meid%3D0d3547ddb9ae4220b67c47912f3c708f%26pid%3D101506%26rk%3D11%26rkt%3D25%26sd%3D325865709560%26itm%3D115943535049%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D3458402%26algv%3DAlgoIndex6SimRanker&_trksid=p3458402.c101506.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A1159435350490d3547ddb9ae4220b67c47912f3c708f|enc%3AAQAIAAAA8LgAmVlDVPpfd7euQavlKfPUImVwShwgm9xJZoQ8Rv9OEACzOvlxQQg3KosmvsjMm8HDmT9suSma6WNmFf%2F1vV9Prk8AJeJfBBLidmO3nljcqY1bCdGQrAq0YhDbVHNypgVKtWAMg5psk%2FpaE6uxnXsF7KgeEx3RnC%2BtZRAQ7hQqJmul7Gqyh690OvOtHTo7sx6Y6ODRpRcnTRjmA77Nq78QvivsaVBWuWkzUsmpaFeZzR%2BehIeSRKe%2F7ldM6CsbA%2BDKy7MsJnnSWxYrDJAFhdeSa28Y9TR8do%2FxclRrF%2BV%2BY%2BbpYgEkruAMpL0iXKOz%2Fg%3D%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A3458402 Thanks for any replies
  10. https://hmrs.org.uk/lner-locomotive-lining.html The centre section is white/black Manouevre with a cocktail stick, and cutting as already said .
  11. This was done using HMRS , you need to look at the sheets provided shapes and then cut and blend them in. The LNER sheet is suitable for SR as well. The A2 wheels were done with Fox Transfers A3 sheet

    Q6

Hornby do not sell main body parts. Dave Bradwell sells his excellent Q6 Castings. https://traders.scalefour.org/DaveBradwell/
  13. I had a easi liner , totally useless at thin lines , it was sold on via ebay . I never had any luck with a Bob Moore version either that went via ebay too. I continue to use HMRS lining decals , sadly their quality is poor at best now as well. Fox Tranfers is the only one now. No idea if they do any SR versions , the LNER lining is similar .
  14. My latest A1/1s I have done Two , (one in Original Dark Blue and one Apple Green) were both built using a Hornby A3 base and etched/resin parts from Graeme King. I have no idea if any of his Pacific kit parts are still available. I also built a PDK version before those were built. The PDK was nowhere as good and not recomended , and was sold off at the same time as the building the two Hornby versions. I suggest a PM to Atlantic3279. Mick

    Q6

Well done Hornby. The motor appears to be the same one. The one I bought was the same size as the Hornby version . Its now in the loco , I probably removed the other shaft if it was needed at the time of fitting.

    Q6

I got a motor the same size , without a worm and much much cheaper via Ali Express on https://laisdcc.aliexpress.com/store/2977030?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.f22d1802A61pjR The motor on my Q6 was dead and was binned in due course. I never bothered trying to remove the flywheel. I simply cut the shaft off, behind the flywheel. Place a piece of thin metal sheet on a gas ring, heated the flywheel theron and the remains of the shaft pulled out easily . I then heated the flywheel again and pushed the shaft of the new motor into the flywheel. Ensure the gap between the flywheel and the motor are roughly the same. The Coupling will take up any small difference. Allow to cool, job done. Does anyone have a spare Hornby Q6 Tender any type for sale please ?
  17. I have better information and photos here. I had forgotten how poor a model Book Law was. https://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1624&p=119721#p119721
  18. I thought it was for vehicles registered before 2009 ??.
  19. Book Law repair. Not easy to photograph. In the first photo at the bottom of the Smokebox Saddle as it meets the Footplate you can see a glue join (white/clear marks) . Second photo in front of the Screw mounting as it goes down towards the Chimney are and behind the Smokebox area I glued a section of flat Plasticard to the body to strenthen the area. Nothing else obvious has been done to cure the issue, that I can remember. I have now also painted and cleaned up the glue joint, and the front steps area which were missed at the time !!.
  20. My other J27 is now a J26 , I was unable to find any 1930's era photos of the J27 with a Two Rail Tender. Bradwell castings again , Footplate rivets removed and repainted. Lightly weathered with powders, coaled and crewed.
  21. E Mail, Dave is is very helpful as well. He is on the Scalefour Society Page under Traders.
  22. A balls up is a polite description . I will do a photo later.
