  1. It maybe the video ? ,the G5 looks like it is rocking up and down ?
  2. Two Expos , one split after 2 years the other one 6 months .
  3. A reopen on this old thread. I have just bought a 4mm?? 3d printed LMS Insulated Container with Iceboxes on the Roof version. On comparing to my other 4mm Containers, it is noticably higher, than all the other pre war versions I have, the width is the same as the others. All the other Containers are approx 32mm high , this one is 36mm high 9' 00" high . Correct to scale or not ??. A search of the internet all say a standard height of 8' 00" high (32mm) on all the mentions, I have found so far.
  4. Try soapy water on a cotton bud. Looks like oil marks to me, as well.
  5. Has anyone got a unwanted 4mm set of the unique etched LNER Eclipse Plates fitted only to the rear Bunker of the LNER Q1 shunting engine as on the photo below please. The only maker I have found to have made them is Modelmaster , obviously due to the ongoing issues with non delievery etc etc , I have no intention of attempting to obtain a set from them. Any assistance would be great !!. Thanks for reading.
  6. Nothing that cant be overcome , all they have to is hire the right people for the job , pay a reasonable wage and sort out the rubbish that makes no money and is still being made. If there isnt any rubbish???? , then they need to reduce the prices and up the quality otherwise they sink for good. Too many other companies are now the leading lights, in a relatively small market, Hornby are not competive enough, they seem to kid themselves that everybody want Hornby etc before any other brand, those days are long gone and will not return in the short term or perhaps even the long term unless they up their game no matter who the owners are. Do Hornby still need to be in a defunct factory ??, many miles from main shopping areas , how many people/customers would be bothered where they are based. I would'nt.
  7. All early LNER containers were Red Oxide, BK Containers went to Oxford Blue sometime in the 1930's.
  8. Paint drips and wonky parts = send it back. On a £300 loco, no chance. Hornby need to get their act together.
  9. Perhaps his interest is totally innocent. All he wants to really do is run his ancient Triang Train set round and round in everdecreasing circles with the Wagons full of lovely Gold Bars !! It brings back happy memories of his childhood!!. I wonder where the Gold Bars came from ????. 🤐🫢😇
  10. Or with 9% he seems to be quitely taking over via the back door . Access to all systems etc etc , of course he is'nt charging for all of this !! How kind of Mr Ashley 🤬
  11. Use the steel version of the end of the chain . Much easier using a magnet on a pole, than a hook to couple up.
  12. I have read at least re wagons, that paint was mixed in drums ad hoc ,hardly a scientific process, every drum would be a different paint shade. No idea if Locos and Coaches were ever painted in any different manner?. I doubt very much that a 100 plus years ago, that shade variation was'nt rife between each batch from various builders. After cleaning with oilrags etc, etc, how much different/similar would they actually ever been?? I doubt anyone actually ever knew even then, and were they ever bothered either ?,and now all we rely on now very old samples, for any colours for anything from that time period. Prescision Paints are about as good as we will ever get now, no idea where their colours shades have actually come from, and from how long ago ??
  13. Or a J20 https://www.lner.info/locos/J/j20.php PDK models do both as 4m kits.
  14. If you have the original box , the wheels are sometimes mentioned on there on the drawing. I would think plain by the 1950's.
  15. Yes. https://www.52fmodels.org/mk3-ner-tender-chassis
  16. I have used it on my A2 and recent B16 models . No reaction to Halfords Aerosol Matt Black or Humbrol/Revell unthinned Satin Black and Red Oxide on both models. Precision Paint ok too. Sounds like it doesnt like Turps perhaps that was'nt full dry?.
  17. Sorry, a bit pointless unless you know what they already for sale. Very easy to forget something etc etc.
  18. No response to any of the Branchline emails address's I give up for now !!.
  19. I do weather wagons and a light dusting with powders on "lesser" Locos and Coaches . They are not sealed ,so that can be washed off in the future. A smaller minority on here perhaps , in the bigger world who knows !!. Thanks
  20. Can does'nt say much it mentions Acetone and a very long chemical name will type out name if needed !! Not much odour when used and intial quick drying , no mention of drying time on can.
  21. JW, No weathering to be done on the A2 . My Pacifics are always left clean ,as they will lose value if ever sold on IMHO. I have'nt used the varnish on anything else so far. What does the dirty wash consist off ?. Ta for advice.
