A couple of answers here.
First a photo of the GC CCT in pre '37 livery.
Then a couple of TPO transfers (actual) - The reign changes - in your case G X R.
Now the question of NPCS Brown. I will try to simplify. Up until 1939 the works mixed their own 'Brown' or 'Teak' paint, each works shade being slightly different. Add to that the fact that batches were made up in galvanised dustbins and paint kettles filled therefrom. Depending on when during a shift (or week) the paint was drawnm, you got s slight vaiation of colour! The mat paint was then varnished which gave another variation depending on the number of coats.
The same supposed colour was used on all NPCS stock and all coahes for solebars wheel centres etc.
Then in 1938 with the introduction of the LLCK (Extra Long CCT) a new Gloss paint was used which was provided from an outside contractor. This was matched in tins to a sealed pattern and diid not vary at source.
The prvenance for this information was from two senior paint shop foreman, one each at Doncaster and York, who had worked up as apprectives in the 20's and 30's.
I use precision 'Teak Brown' and still have some old Humbrol HR143. These two shades vary slightly which is quite pleasing. The GNR CCT is in Precision.
Hope this help - if only to confuse you further!

Lining is from Marc Models. It is very reluctant to adhere to the panel lines the only way i could get to lay was to coat the line with varnish and lay the decal straight on top of the wet varnish and then allow both to dry. If you look closely it even has the outer red lining behing the yellow.
Most of the whitemetal pieces are now on the CCT. I saw the Isinglass Milk Van at St Albans looked ok, it has a brass roof of which I am not a big fan as a bit awkward not having rolling bars!!
Rob re D&S kits normally very good be very careful of the instructions they could be clearer in Hungarian at times as to what goes where etc !!
cheers

TPO completed.
I tried the Modelmaster Decals but on arrival they are not suitable for LNER vehicles which is contrary to the Modelmasters listing . The panels are too wide and wrong height .
I therefore added some Red decal panels and added some "lettering" with a Gold Gel Pen not perfect but looks ok from a normal viewing distance.
It was lucky that Silver Fox mentioned the Red panels because on further looking at the "Net" side the etch has the letterbox in the wrong panel ( can be seen in earlier photos one panel to the right) I managed to scrape the raised letterbox off with a Swan Morton No 10 blade and used a piece of Microstrip for the letterbox in the correct panel.
The GCR CCT has now had all the numerous!! Brass etchings added and awaits the Whitemetal castings next
Still had no luck with any further info re this vehicle . Can anyone assist ?? Thanks

Hi
Yes I still have the article the photo shows the variation in colour but not the lettering, as its too distant.
Also on the built models he has not painted either the letterbox panel on either the LNER or BR versions in the article Post Office Red , just to confuse the issue a tad !!
cheers

Great !!! one guess who thought a TPO was finished today
I have now ordered the Modelmaster Decal TPO set not sure if its 100% correct as the G R insignia is different from the photos I have . Should be able to cut it about if needed.
Silver Fox I presume the whole panel is Red ??
thanks

Mick, they're lovely models of wagons that actually look like they're being used - specially the faded 'NE' on the first one. Out of interest, what are the hairy bits sticking out of the top of the first one - is it a load, or just an accident? Do the D&S castings include interior detail (planks, door edges, bolt heads etc)? - if you happen to have a piccy of the inside of either of these wagons, I'd be interested in seeing it.
Two cock ups is the simple honest answer
No 1 "Fluff " now gone
No 2 Brakegear is back to front the casting has the same size mounting slot on both sides (no idea why) and I never checked before soldering. I have a NB van amongst a couple others to start tomorrow so it will be a quick swop over of the brake gear at the same time. I have managed to do the same on NER hoppers in the past as well must be the eyes
Yes the wagons have interior detail and I will post a picture on the next "photo shoot"
While i am here the TPO had the roof glue on today. Hopefully the rest of the net gear etc will be done soon too.
cheers

What primer are you using on the coach ?
I agree re spuds never had any luck with them my Sentinel Railcar stripped the plastic gears on two with consumate ease. It nows has a Black Beetle and so far its good.
First decent picture I have seen of a Bullant looks very nice. Are you adding some lead as it looks like its going to be very light ? !!

How did you get on with Fox transfers about the Silver Jubilee '1' & '3' for coach doors? I am interested in some as they don't come with the Fox Transfer. An option might be to use any remaining small numbers on the sheet, but really these are a little too small.
I am using the Fox Coronation Set . Fox when contacted admitted their mistake on the Jubilee sheet there are probably enough "3"s its the "1"s which are short on the sheet.
My Silver Jubilee with 2512 Silver Fox was in the Readers layouts section of the October issue of BRM, did you see it? I have improved a few things on it since the photo was taken, adding curtains and roof vents and improving running qualities. I don't recall the Mailcoach set having the correct vents for the Kitchen car, but will check and maybe have a go at making some.
Sorry never saw the article . Post some pictures on a thread would be good
I think I may have asked you previously about the High Level gearbox, if you did please excuse my forgetfulness, could you tell me where you get them from? I am in Australia.
Search for High Level Models. I do not know if he does sales abroad. Let me know if you have any problems
cheers

Mick - I meant to say something complimentary a couple of days ago when you posted these pictures. TPO is a top job. Have you thought of making the lights work? I do like the A3 as well.
Did you see my note on the LNER forum about 51L doing a Jubilee kit next (still next) year?
Lights? no I wont be trying that . I dont run my stock in the dark and sounds a bit fiddly as well!! The BRM article on the TPO tried to light his with mixed results from the text.
Jubilees yes I have seen the note . I may do a few more in due course.
thanks

Sorry I have no idea. In case your comments get limited reading may I suggest a seperate thread on here. You may also find help on the LNER study group sites. Bill Bedford is on the LNER Encylcopedia site as is very knowlegeable as well as Coachman on here.
Re 51L coaches they maybe a range taken over from another source?? I have never seen one but they list a few on their site. Is nice toknow there are some sources for pre grouping LNER coaches other than the old D&S kits.
cheers

Never heard of LNWR stock on the LNER . 51L Models sell Midland Clerestory Bogie Coaches that were taken over by the LNER via the NBR . As usual its your model and your choice.
I presume these are Suburban Stock ? if yes I would spray a light coat of Halfords grey or white primer . Then paint Prescision LNER Coach Teak unlined perhaps with a drop of white as they would probably be faded post war or go the other way and add black to darken up if you want them weathered.

A few things to update since my last post
TPO most of which is now lined
Next a couple of D&S NBR 16ton Mineral wagons . The first one I used a photo in the current MRJ as a rough painting guide its in avery tired post war livery photo has paint date on the solebar as 1946
Another pre 1937 livery as in the original Tatlow LNER Wagons Book
Another of my old builds a NB J37 this had a bent coupling rod and both oil drives broken and a what I thought was a dead ECM motor sitting in the kits supplied whitemetal cradle (see below). It sounded when it worked like a bag of spanners due to poor motor setup. This I have replaced with a Mashima 1020 and a High Level box turned around so thet it fits inside the body and is invisible. I have replaced the rods with Gibson Universal rods and scratched new lubricator drives. The chassis has not been weathered to match the loco so far. NB Models were contacted but they had no spares for the kit which is now withdrawn.
Lastly my ebay bargain Hornby NRM A3 renamed/renumbered as Salmon Trout the drain cock has been straightened since the photos !! Sorry re blurry picture and the dust now removed as well!!
Re dead motors, on the old RM Web I mentioned I had a number of Anchoridge motors fail after a few seconds of running. I thought no more of it and started to replace with Mashimas etc. It was only when the Hornby A3 above displayed the same problems I finally realised what was wrong the Gaugemaster Controller I used only for running in Locos was duff!!. A expensive mistake on my behalf so I recomend always check with other controllers when a motor dies !! Gaugemaster have now repaired the duff one without charge very good service.

is the Silver Jubilee Marcmodels. If so I understand he's thinking of a Twin open thirds or is it firsts for the West Riding. Maroon ones would suit me for the talisman.
They are by Bleathwood Models a new producer. They come with the valance attached only so are only suitable for 1930's stock.
cheers

GCR CCT complete
One from the past a WCM kit of the GCR Bogie Fish van . This at least 20 years old and was always derailing. I finally had a look at it to find a total dogs ear of a build of the bogies. The wheels were running in the bogie sides without bearings. On taking them apart the reason was the bogies are not wide enough for the axles. I have reduced the axles (never had the tools or the now how when built) fitted bearings and problem solved.
Next a build from last year which I never photographed at the time it is a D&S NER Ballast Brake Van
The latest project for my layout
They are NER Slotted signals Three Homes and One Home/ Distant Signals (which are straight not as in picture !!) . They are a mixture of old D&S etches and current MSE parts. I also have to build three bracket signals in due course hence the number of arms in the pictures. They will be working on the balance levers only I have no intention of motorising them at the present time.
Many thanks to Mick Nich and MikeMeg for their help in researching the signals
