  1. Afternoon guys. I have just soundfitted a pre production Heljan O gauge class 47....and a start has been made on weathering. I decided to take some pics, thought you might appreciate. There is some very nice detail work going on here to the chassis and undergubbins.
  2. The first of many new locos from Heljan this year, we kick of with the 0 gauge class 17. Never knew the prototype, but this is strangely attractive, in an odd way! Bet these inspire many, many small layouts.
  3. Another 4mm completed repaint today...this time in the form of the Realtrack 'Pacer'. I'll be honest, this is the 2nd one of these I have done now, and it will be my last. An absolute nightmare to do! Nice final result though, which is what it is all about.
  4. A few bog standard out of the box weathered 00 gauge locos today.
  5. Good morning. Today's post....lighting. Specifically the rather good Heljan 0 gauge class 50. I discovered a small oddity with it, in that the cabfront markers, headlamp, and internal cab illumination whilst all wired for seperate function control, are actually incorrect, as the markers and internal cab lights have actually been wired together. Which means if the headcode box markers are on, so are the internal cabs, which is wrong. After investigation, a small cut to the solder track of the feed to the headcode markers stopped them coming on with the internal cabs, a new feed to it then allowed everything to be controlled correctly. Hopefully you can see this form the attached images.
  6. Morning guys. Todays featured finished loco, slightly smaller than yesterday's! The marvellous Sutton Locomotive Works class 24. This was photographed a while ago part way through it's repaint....it started life as RTC 24081. As the bodystyle was correct, the customer wanted it as preserved D5061. I had to unplate the no 2 end bodyside boiler radiator grilles, same with the bodyside footsteps, and add the foot rungs. The lining was really tricky on this one, but worth the perseverance.
  7. Another loco about to enter service on HLJ....a Heljan pre production refurbished class 31.
  8. Just completed the Heljan 0 gauge pre production refurbished class 31....in the guise of original Railfreight grey 31166. Lightly weathered to represent a month or so into service after refurbishment. Soon to be seen earning it's keep on Simon George's Heaton Lodge Junction.

  10. Iwata Eclipse. Been using them in the day job for 7 years now. I prefer the 0.5mm nozzle and needle combo for 0 gauge work. I have tried a few others, including more exotic Iwatas, but this is the best brush I have ever found for my particular use. It's used in combination with an Iwata Studio Pro compressor.
  11. Another custom order received from Precision Labels. Very quick, great quality. #fantasticsupplier.
  12. Just painted the cantrail lining stripes onto this. As much of a nightmare to deal with in model form as they were upon prototype introduction!
  13. More chassis, sound fits, bufferbeams, bufferbeam bits......
  14. Well, I have tried ordering twice now, and no response. Must just be me.
  15. I originally used PH Designs, but he no longer seems to be in business. I have sourced some from Proto-Neo, and Laurie at M1 Models.
  16. Well I haven't even had the courtesy of a reply, or request for payment. I understand the current situation, I run an online business myself and it has thrived the last year due to increased uptake of hobbies and online shopping. Being able to travel to a bank to pay cheques in, but being unable to do anything else to fulfill a customers order sounds distinctly odd to me. I need these parts to complete customer orders, I'm now sourcing an alternative supplier.
  17. Hi Steve. Yes, the EM3 is my standard install in the bigger locos Always curious to see what others do, and looking for improvements.
  18. I do like getting to the 'bits' and re-assembly stage when repainting. Very satisfying seeing it all coming together.
