  1. The top one is the Parkside 8 shoe LMS pattern VB chassis to model one of the4 with that brakegear. The bottom one is the Parkside 4 shoe Morton chassis. The next tranche will also include versions using the Red Panda BR pattern 8 shoe chassis.
  2. I recall reading that the ConCor n scale switcher is based on an Illinois Central SW7/9/1200 rebuild hence the squared off cab roof
  3. I recall my basic O/H construction course included how to cross a railway line. I never had to put it into practice but years later at Sutton on Trent I found two mahoosive GPO poles that had once carried a span over the ECML.
  4. Thanks for the heads up, Mr Hilton’s article on his Hilton-Mears Lumber is in Continental Modeller’s August edition - it looks rather fine.
  5. CM dropped on the mat this morning and has a excellent article on Vischkaai. The standard of modelling is most impressive, it captures the feel of the place
  6. I was a little surprised when I checked, the SD7/9 looks longer. A thought occurs to me, didn’t Del Prado do a static Nohab in n?
  7. Hi Jon, Just checked in Model Railroader Cyclopedia 2, an SD7/9 has bogie centres of 35’ or 10500mm. Danske Locomotiver of Motorvogn gives the bogie centres of an MY class as 10300mm. Comparing a Heljan MY to the drawing looks pretty good. I seem to recall Life Like did an N scale SD7 and Atlas the SD9.
  8. I’ll just drop a couple of pictures of my current work in progress, reworking my 10’ wb Horwich rebuilds. I originally built them in the 80s from Mainline mineral wagons but didn’t upgrade the chassis.
  9. I use guitar string for vacuum pipes and 0.6mm black jewellery wire for air pipes
  10. Found a shot of a sister loco on RR Picture Archives with it yellow but very dirty http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5774159 The loco is looking really good
  11. Thanks, the air brake set is Wizard Models, hand wheels are Stenson Models and the brake shoes are either Wizard or MJT. The other bits I made from nickel silver wire and scrap brass. Apologies for the thread hijack
  12. Another vote for AMF87, I’ve used their Eco range of white metal castings which include a rectangular style. They’re a complete buffer, I can’t see if the Jouef one includes the shank. Here’s a set on an Hbis
  13. I remember seeing Fort Myers in the early days at Tolworth and being suitably inspired, glad it’s still around
  14. Speaking of more wagons, I’ve completed a few lockdown projects since my last post. Two more Hbis slide side vans from Lima with details and Skilteskoven decals And a workshop wagon/ generator wagon set from Lima and Rivarossi Gs vans. The brake platforms are by Freja model and custom decals by Precision Labels Finally, an on-track plant carrier, this one is “based on a true story” as the prototypes seem to be Gs vans with the body removed but this is on a shorter Roco lowside chassis that I acquired in a job lot. Industrivej is at the Ruddington show on 9th & 10th July - see you there?
  15. If the chassis casting is thinner or can be cut down Del Prado did a GP20 which may fit
  16. The snowplow and (I believe) the RDC were particularly well modelled to 1.87. A Canadian modeller, Bob Boudreau modelled several CN and CP plows using Triang models as a base.
  17. That is looking really good, I like the transition from town to mill across the layout
  18. The colours of the loco seem familiar, did (old) Piko release a version in pale blue as a demonstrator or industrial unit?
  19. It’s looking great, I think you’re right about the vacant lot. Maybe a low-rise wooden building that’s startiyto sag in the tropical climate ( a cantina?). Would “flying “ pelmet up and forward help to get the big plant/ big sky feel?
  20. Check power_hobbies on eBay, their shipping on small items is a bit more sensible
  21. I’m aware of American OO scale, 1:76th scale on 19mm track which seems to have come about for the same reason as British OO (more space for mechanisms) https://www.nmra.org/oo-scale-sig-page https://americanootoday.com/?p=796
  22. It would seem so, along with West India Fruit & Steamship Co and FEC https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_India_Fruit_and_Steamship_Company
  23. Just spotted a reference to Briggs Models on James Hilton’s blog. Checking out their site I spotted a CP SD40-2 detail set that may be helpful. https://briggs-models.myshopify.com/products/h029-sd40-detail-set-cp-ho-1-87-1
