  1. Morning all Muggacoffee on the go before I turn furniture removal man - off to Seaford shortly to move a desk for an elderly relative who has recently moved into a care home. After that, we are going to Eastbourne marina for a curry with the in-laws which will be good. And so goes another weekend! What is it about these two days of the week that go far quicker than any one of the preceding five?
  2. Morning all Has been a spectacularly busy couple of days at work, so have been rising very early and going in to try and combat the tide of emails. Tasks for today include dismantling Hannah's cot and rebuilding it in the bedroom she will now be sharing with Leah, placing an online shopping order and putting up some hooks, along with whatever else I am instructed! The bedrooms are very nearly done, so soon it will be my turn to put up some brackets for the new layout to live on! Now off to catch up with two days worth of posts. Enjoy your Saturday all.
  3. Been there and done it once before! - I was a Project Support Officer (fancy title for PA/Receptionist/Admin Dogsbody) for 3 years until I took voluntary redundancy when the Primary Care Trusts were axed. A lot of politics there, certainly!
  4. Well, I didn't get the job (PA to NHS Deputy director), but I did get some really good feedback and considering I always dread interviews, it was nice to hear that I interviewed very well on this occasion. The job went to another candidate with more experience in the end, but I'm not too disheartened.
  5. Morning all Back to work today so just time for a quick catch up before I go. Interview seemed to go well yesterday, and should find out this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed! Hope everyone's day goes well as can be hoped for.
  6. Morning all Off to the tip shortly to dispose of some of the detritus from the bedroom switcheroo, and then it will be off to Lewes for the reason for today's day off - a job interview. Fingers crossed! Have a good day all.
  7. Afternoon A very busy weekend gave way road very busy day at work - but one bedroom is now done and the second is well on its way. Day off tomorrow - but before then there is a bed to build, a wardrobe to dismantle and a haircut to have!
  8. Morning all Chaos reigns this morning, as it's Charlie's birthday, so have been dutifully setting up his new phone and locating painting guidance for this delightful chap... We are off to ballet with Leah shortly, then I suspect I will be called to finish off one bedroom and make a start on the other, but at least the sooner it is done, the sooner I can make a start on my baseboard. Have a good day all
  9. Morning all. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. Muggacoffee here before I take Hannah over to parents for the day, Leah had a sleepover with the in-laws last night, so just the one this morning to get ready! Looks chilly but bright outside. Roll on hometime! Have a good day all.
  10. Morning all. Muggacoffee and a contemplative mood this morning - my Gran (the last of my grandparents) passed away early yesterday evening. She had been in hospital for a couple of days and it wasn't unexpected, but still came about an hour before I had planned to visit (whilst Charlie was at American Football). Off to work shortly. Have a good day all.
  11. Morning all Muggacoffee before work time. Frustration last night as we couldn't get the bed built due to disappearing Allen keys - they were there on Saturday, but not last night, which is baffling if not unusual! Charlie has American Football this evening, so hopefully it stays dry! Have a good day
  12. Morning all. Muggacoffee on the go before work. Last night saw the van and one of the opens given their transfers, so just couplings to go and then they will be complete. Also getting a final coat of paint last night was the bedroom which we have started, meaning tonight we can build the bed which is currently cluttering up the hall. Whatever you are up to today, hope it goes well
  13. Morning all. Another weekend has come and gone seemingly very quickly. Muggacoffee on the go before I get the kids up. Tonight should see more bedroom painting, and perhaps building the new bed, if we get the chance. A days spotting sounds ideal recovery Brian! Hope everyone's day goes as smoothly as possible.
  14. As my local stockist for Cambrian kits now appears to be on the far(ish) side of the neighbouring county, I've been picking some up (new) on eBay. If I see any Herrings will drop you a message with the relevant link.
  15. Morning all A productive start to Sunday, with one of the bedrooms now ready for painting. Hannah isn't feeling very well, so we are giving the Tesco rally a miss today and ordering online instead for the bulk of it, though I will be dispatched shortly to pick up a few bits for the kids lunchboxes. No rain here now, but there was enough last night to have flooded a road just around the corner. Whispering quietly to avoid the awl, one of my LBSC opens is now complete bar couplings (as much as I would love to drive to Gaugemaster this afternoon for some Smiths 3 links, I can't really justify it!) and transfers (which should arrive tomorrow), and an SECR Van from the same Cambrian stable is also ready apart from couplings and transfers too. For those with a Games Workshop near by, Mechanicus Standard Grey is a pretty good fit for SECR Grey!
  16. Morning all Off to ballet shortly, and once back then a start may well be made on the bedroom. One of the wagon kits that arrived yesterday has already been built and partially painted. There will be a short break this afternoon, as I have to pop up the club to hand over some paperwork to the new mug/secretary. Hope everyone's day goes well, and particular condolences to Andy.
  17. Disaster narrowly averted this morning - I hadn't noticed my phone wasn't charged, and woke up this morning to find it on 4% battery. Police visit went well enough yesterday - they will be posting us the relevant form to complete. Wet and very windy here (not vegetable related ), but good news in that two Cambrian LBSC open kits have arrived today, so I may crack on with one this evening. We also hope to make a start on the great bedroom switcheroo this weekend - Charlie now moving into the smaller room so that the girls can share the bigger one. We had a real success last Saturday, picking up a cabin bed with an integrated desk gratis, so once Leah's stuff has been removed, it can be built. The other result of the switch is that there will be space in our room once more as the cot will be gone - so a pair of brackets on the wall will be installed for the new layout to live on. Enjoy what's left of your Friday
  18. Morning all A later start today - police station doesn't open until 10, so will get that done before heading into work. Not sure if work will be too impressed, but the insurance company asked me to do it as soon as possible, so needs must. Hope everyone's day goes as well as can be hoped.
  19. Evening; Woke up with a thumping headache this morning, and by the time the paracetamol and muggacoffee had gone down, there was no time to post. A mixed day has been had - picked up the materials for the baseboard for the long awaited return to modelling, however the night was tempered somewhat by some dolt hitting us from behind in traffic. Fortunately nobody hurt and only some minor cracked paint on the bumper - a very low speed impact. At first the idiot said he didn't know he'd hit us ( ), then apologised, then said our brake lights weren't working (Tested and they are). All this time he remained seated in his car and hasn't provided insurance details. Took a photo of the damage to our car, and his front grille (which I noted was already being held on with a bungee cord), including plates, then got back into the car, after making my feelings perfectly plain to him, and then drove round the corner to park in a safer location. He followed us - and then merrily went on his way without stopping. Sal was on the phone to the police at the time, who have put a message out and advised me to pop into the station tomorrow morning to fill out a collision form. Have got in touch with insurance company who have confirmed my 7 years no claims will be unaffected and it will be his fault, and if I want to proceed with a claim I will need to obtain his name and a contact number. Thanks - we were not expecting a "normal" label, but were a little frustrated that it seemed one step forward, two back. When we visited the Scott Unit for Charlie to be assessed for ASD a couple of years back, the Doctor there felt that he was far more likely to have ADHD and discharged us from the service. We are now on the list to go back again. Hopefully the results will turn out similar to your experience. Things have been much better since has gone up to secondary school in many ways, as he is now treated more humanely and with far greater understanding than was ever the case at primary school.
  20. Few answers and more questions - no ADHD diagnosis, instead we are looking at very high functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder and severe anxiety. More waiting lists. Not the answer he was hoping for, but it is, at least, a step in the right direction.
  21. Morning all Late on parade today, but off to Eastbourne for breakfast and shopping ahead of something we have been waiting for for years. After first getting a CAHMS referral some 6 years ago, today we should finally get a diagnosis for Charlie which will mean he can be helped with ADHD. The process has been very long and incredibly frustrating, but it finally feels like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Cold still present, loads of coughing made it an uncomfortable night, and muggacoffee was replaced with lemsip this morning, but hoping for a very positive day nonetheless. Enjoy your Tuesday
  22. Morning all Cough and cold is striking with a vengeance this morning, but hoping to feel more human after a muggacoffee before work. The cold and frosty weather seems to have been replaced with heavy rain. Hope everyone's Monday goes as well as can be hoped.
  23. Morning all The burst pipe down the road still hasn't been fixed, so we are waiting on a call from South East Water to tell us when and where we can collect bottled water from. Leah has a birthday party to go to shortly (she announced yesterday that the host, who is just turning 6, is her boyfriend and they will be getting married, much to our amusement!) Other than that, it's Sunday so supermarket day. Hope everyone's day goes smoothly!
  24. Looks superb Tom. The greenery really sets off the subtlety in the weathering of the rolling stock, and the ballasting is as good as any I've seen.
  25. Back in the game after a few issues with passwords etc - Andy kindly reset my email address from whichever one I was using ten years ago to my current one! Hope the last few days have gone Ok for everyone. We have had snow which settled but didn't cause any extra days off, much to the disappointment of the kids, and now are collectively suffering from colds. Sal has suggested I paint a red cross on the door. Catching up with previous days postings now, so if you suddenly get a like from something you posted about two days ago, that'll be why!
