  1. Back at Victoria, 12 Dec 1968 for the Brighton Belle and the same units on 18 June 1969 after a visit to the paint shop
  2. How about this, a green one taken at Victoria, 12 Dec 1968
  3. To me , that looks more like a wagon-mounted crane. Mike did do something which was more appropriate.
  4. Yeovil Junction in 1988 but it looks, to me, to be Great Western* in style. Why would there be a GWR box at the side of the LSWR main line? *Edit: See following posts
  5. Still west of Salisbury in 1988 Sherborne and Gillingham (the Dorset one, not the Kent one).
  6. As I understand it, early LNWR and used as a basis for building a loco. Was it the 'Bloomer' which once stood outside Milton Keynes station?
  7. I've got this one down as 'Somewhere west of Salisbury' in 1988 Edit: @Oldddudderssuggests it is Semley Templecombe, 1988
  8. I can offer this photo of HEA 361798 at the RTC in Derby on 11 Aug 1983 with experimental modified suspension.
  9. Back to those (to me) foreign parts south of the Thames in 1988 so I'll make no comment other than what it says on the box . I'll leave any extra detail for those who know what they are talking about. Ash Crossing Shalford
  10. If you take another look, you will see that the brickwork supports a bit more than the thunderbox.
  11. Two very different North Eastern boxes: Peckfield, 28 October 1996 and Penshaw North, early to mid 1980s
  12. Two LNWR boxes on the Lichfield to Birmingham line, seen on 8 July 1983 Erdington and Four Oaks
  13. Back on more familiar territory for today: Chinley Station North Junction, Midland Railway, some time in the 1980s The new signal box which was built adjacent to Chinley North Junction box and took over from all the other Station and Junction boxes, again some time in the 1980s Grindleford, LMS style, 1980s and 30 Nov 1996
  14. It would be nice to know the exact location of the boxes for the sake of historical accuracy and trying to make life a bit easier for the guys doing the indexing. I was guessing the location on them being on the Reading to Guildford line which has apparently gone wrong somewhere. It's not my normal stamping ground and it was 33 years ago after all so a lot of water has gone under the bridge in that time. If anybody knows better than what I do, then I bow to their superior knowledge. Don't be frightened to correct me where I get it wrong.
  15. Two with name boards in situ! On the SE&CR Guildford to Reading line, seen in 1988. Aldershot and Ash Vale Junction
  16. Thanks guys, I had guessed Guildford because previous photos had been in that area. The following photo, however, was North Pole Jct so really could have been anywhere in between.
  17. Two anonymous Southern boxes I'm almost sure about, from 1988 (it was almost half a lifetime ago!). Dorking, (Edit: Not Dorking but Gomshall, thanks to Oldddudders et al) on the SE&CR route between Redhill and Guildford, but not an SE&CR design and Guildford. (Edit: Wrong again, actually South Croydon Junction. Thank you @4069)
  18. Another one that should have some sort of suffix, a GWR box seen at Reading in 1988. Edit: Response after just a few minutes from @Mike_Walker that it's Reading Middle If that's supposed to be a fire escape ladder at the left hand end, it's a mighty big step at the bottom!
  19. Basingstoke (I don't know if it had any subtitle or not), LSWR, 24 July 1987 Edit: @4069 tells us it used to be Basingstoke West and some time in 1988
  20. Thanks for the compliment @beast66606(and all those who 'agree'). They might as well be shared on here as they may not get anywhere else before I turn my toes up and who knows what will happen then. I hope my photos will go as a whole collection rather than piecemeal scattering to the four corners of the world but if it was left till then I would not be able to bask in the glory of all the 'likes' that I have accumulated on here. So thanks to all of you who have pressed the 'Like' button, it makes it worth while. I've already posted over 1000 photos on this thread but there's still quite a few more to go at and then lots of slides to scan and negatives that have never even been printed (could be anything on them!).
