I did see one place selling them for £119, but they were sold out, damnit! 😆 Would love to see the Kernow DB 90129 go the same way in time. Just need the Sybic one to complete the set, but may do that meself when I finish layout building.

I’m waiting on decals to finish 130. Fox used to do them but they appear to be discontinued.

EWS, see photo from Flickr above at Temple Mills which I will get round to building one day. I’ve already done 698 and have mentor on the go to complete the below working:

Not sure about noses. When I get the other split box bosh back from Brian at Shawplan I’ll try and fit them and let you know.

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately they are not the same so don’t fit. 3D printing is the short term solution!

    Hi everyone,

Just for clarification (and I hate commenting on another manufacturers channel, but I guess a member of another manufacturer kicked off the debate on this thread too) the samples we have shown off to date, and the one referenced above, ARE the first decorative samples received over 12 months ago and feedback on the refining of these windows was top of the list fed back to the factory. Factory samples are due in February which will show the improvement and they will be the ones to judge.

Anyway, that’s enough from me and hope a clarification isn’t seen in poor form on this thread.

    Cheers!

    Fran

Thanks Fran. Can’t wait to see them. My colours aren’t nailed to any masts, I am loving having the new tractors from Bachmann to play with and very much looking forward to yours too.

Got to agree, as I’ve just opened my 12th 92!

Wowzers. Do they need playing with er I mean customising?! Haha. Anyways back to tractors. I’ve just repainted another so crossing fingers it’s not on the list tomorrow 🤣

I think it all boils down to the difference between witnessing the product going through the development process, or just seeing the finished product being released after all the development work has been completed. It is perhaps a little unfortunate that Bachmann released their updated 37 whilst the Accurascale one was being firmed up, but let’s see how it all ends. Accurascale have been quite open about the tooling being refined for fit and finished all along. Plus the 92s are amazing, and the Deltics actually look properly like the Deltics for the first time ever in 4mm.

I don’t think we’ll be wanting for decent 37s for a long time. Now, how about doing the same with the class 40?

The 92 is the best RTR loco to date in my view. The Deltic is great too.

And yes agree re the 40, as I mentioned too. They’ve done all that research, may as well get their moneys worth.

I cannot see that being the final fit in a million years. You can see the ridge in the real 419 in my snip of my pic below, and I expect the finished product will be more like that than the sample model linked above.

Having revisited the original unpainted sample pics of the AS tractors I suspect we are going to be spoilt for choice going forward. If you’re an 80s or 90s or most of the 00s you can have a Bachmann 37/4 and for modern 37/4’s you’ve got a choice… similarly with the split box 37/0s. Will the Bachmann new announcements bring anymore joy for us tomorrow I wonder?

Bachmann just need to sort the 40 now 🤭

Just to remind how much Bachmann have nailed them though!

    People aren’t forgetting it…….

Bachmann have got the windscreen spot on in my view whereas the other one looks wrong in a number of areas around the windscreen and the fit on all samples I have seen is poor.  This one is from Warley. Of course the old “it’s a hand made” sample defence will likely be trotted out but this late in the day I’d expect a bang on production sample. So, I have to say I agree with Daddyman.

    Many thanks for that.

I should have said I had browsed through Flickr and couldn't see this loco with the aerial, link below from the early 80's.

Any pics of the Bachmann loco also shows no aerial although I wasn't sure if this was to be added from the detail pack. I've just managed to look at a review on youtube and there was a close up of the nose and I couldn't see a hole for the aerial.

There is no aerial hole on the nose with 430. Haven’t checked the model of 423 I have here.

I thought of another large logo tractor you could do from 430 easily - 422.

I saw @cairnsroadworks had done this on Instagram - looks really good! Love the diorama too

The black surround on the cab front shows off my point exactly, just how well Bachmann have captured this distinct feature of the loco. I think some LaserGlaze from Brian would finish it off nicely!

    Kind regards,

    Will

I do not like the new glazing. In the pic I took of this one you can see the purple reflection on the nose.

I’m waiting to see the AS model before passing definitive judgement. The windscreens on the Bachmann one are off the scale - understand a lot of work went in to get them so - will be interesting to see what the AS ones look like.

Re Large Logo 37430, is it a straightforward candidate for an Eastfield/WHL renumber ?

Am I correct in saying 430 was never fitted with a nose aerial ?

No it got a nose aerial in its large logo days. I’d say reasonably straightforward - 401 is the obvious one to pick - or any other with the centrally mounted lamp bracket. Flickr is your friend to hunt them down :-)
