  1. Been a while since I've put anything up, but I've been enjoying the thread! Below is a selection of pictures taken this month. The South has seen a couple of Tug workings, but none have been during a sensible time (Well, when I'm not at work!) A loco I did miss was 60074, and what pi@#ed me off further was that it worked to Fawley on 4th July!! Gah!! Although a friend did catch it coming into Marchwood: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/9208274127/ Anyway, by far the best day spotting I've had in recent history was at Tamworth on Friday 5th July. (Was up that way for DEMU.) The Sun was out all day, and we managed to bag 6 Class 60's during the 8 hours we were there! A video can be found here: 60091 - 6M11 Washwood Heath - Peak Forest 60062 "Stainless Pioneer" - 6M96 Margam - Corby 66031 & 60065 "Spirit of Jaguar" - 6X01 Toton North Yard - Eastleigh Yard 60092 - 6E41 Westerleigh - Lindsay 60059 "Swinden Dalesman" - 6E08 Wolverhampton - Immingham 60019 "Port of Grimsby & Immingham" - 6M00 Humber - Kingsbury And slightly closer to home, 60039 worked down to Marchwood on 10th July with the MOD trip. It's seen from Brockenford Bridge in Totton as it pulls forward onto the mainline with a solitary container flat. It was working the return 6V38 Marchwood MOD to Didcot but as far as Eastleigh Yard. The loco then went West on 6V41 to Westbury. Andy.
  2. That would be 6V62 Fawley to St Philips Marsh. Will split in Eastleigh Yard with most heading off to St Philips Marsh, while the rest go North on the Didcot trip and maybe a few for Eastleigh Depot. Andy.
  3. Here's a few more from me. First up is white roofed 66177. Seen at Campbell Road with 0Z69 Eastleigh Yard to Southampton Western Docks, this was to collect a DBS run Boat Train. (30.6.12) The only Euroshed I've seen. 66029 does the honours on (I think) 6E84 Middleton Towers to Barnaby Dun at Scrooby on ECML. (9.8.11) Red Shed 66101 has a heavy load as it passes through Pooksgreen on the outskirts of Marchwood with 6B45 Eastleigh Yard to Marchwood MOD. (5.2.13) Captured just yesterday, 66183 sweeps around the curve at Campbell Road with 6V62 Fawley CAD to St Philips Marsh. (25.6.13) Now in DRS' hands, ex-Fastline 66303 comes through Newport with 4V38 Daventry to Wentloog LessCo Express. (21.9.12) The beating heart of every 66. 66414's 710 engine is seen exposed during a DRS open day at Crewe Gretsy Bridge. (10.7.10) Seen not long after Fastline's collapse, DRS owned 66434 heads though Warrington Bank Quay with empty log wagons. (9.7.10) GBRf's Big Boat liveried 66709 "Sorento" hurtles through Cheddington with 4M23 Felixstowe to Hams Hall. (1.6.12) Metronet liveried 66722 "Sir Edward Watkin" trundles through Shawford with 5O65 Peterborough to Eastleigh barrier move. (21.5.13) Ex-"Barbie" liveried 66729 "Derby County" heads through Shawford with 4Y19 Mountfield to Southampton Western Docks gypsum. (20.5.13) One of Colas' original 66's, 66841 heads away from Warrington Bank Quay with 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk logs. (9.7.10) Keep the pics coming guys! Some cracking shots on here! Andy.
  4. Now for the Freds! 66501 on a Sunday engineers at Worting Junction, 6Y91 Haslemere to Eastleigh Yard. (7.4.13) Pre-repaint, 66504 heads through the New Forest near Ashurst with 6O49 Neasden to Wool sand. (4.3.13) 66504 sits shut off in Southampton Maritime after working the Saturdays 4O59 from Wentloog. (18.5.13) 66504 is seen again at Shawford with 4M68 Southampton to Birch Coppice. (21.5.13) 66519 speeds through Foxhills with 6O49 Neasden to Wool sand. (25.3.13) With an 08 for company, 66541 sits over the pit at Southampton Maritime. (25.6.11) 66563 flies through Oxford with a Southampton bound service. (13.3.13) 66592 "Johnson Stevens Agencies" has 70009 for company as it works 4M55 Millbrook to Lawley Street at Oxford. (30.4.13) On a Saturday, 66617 powers up the grade at Beaulieu Road with 6O49 Neasden to Wool. (14.8.12) Heavy Haul 66622 works 6O49 Neasden to Wool sand through Shawford. (20.5.13) Bardon Blue 66623 "Bill Bolsover" heads through the cutting South of Beaulieu Road with 6M42 Wool to Neasden sand. (17.6.13) Freightliner shed! Andy.
  5. Enjoying the thread, some great pictures here. I'll oblige with a few, with the Red team being first up. 66004 at Campbell Road bridge with a very short 6X44 Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh Yard. (13.6.13) 66079 "James Nightall GC" at Crampmoor with an ECS working, 5Z63 Bristol East Depot to Eastleigh T&RSMD. (14.4.13) 66094 rests on depot at Warrington. (9.7.10) 66109 howls up St Cross with 6V27 Eastleigh to Hinksey engineers. (18.6.13) 66115 rolls into Marchwood with 6B93 Eastleigh Yard to Fawley. (14.3.13) 66117 sits at Didcot with 6D15 Avonmouth to Didcot PS coal. (13.3.13) 66152 "Derek Holmes: Railway Operator" heads into Shawford with 6O26 Hinksey to Eastleigh engineers. (20.3.13) 66201 sits in the QE2 terminal in Southampton Eastern Docks while working the Solent Witness railtour. (28.12.12) Green team up next! Andy.
  6. Has been a bit quiet on the Tug front in the South. The Eastleigh super shunter has been swapped, with 60049 now back, taking over from 60071. Seen below is 60071's last working, with the Tug thumping through a miserable Millbrook on 6X44 Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh tripper on 28th May. It went North in the consist of 6X38 from Eastleigh to Didcot the same day. Making for a nice combination, 60017 throbs away from Shawford working an ECS move on 21st May. The working was 5Z61 Wembley to Eastleigh. While digging through my folders, I came across this shot of 60073 at Didcot on 29th September 2009 working 6B33 Theale to Robeston tanks. The shot has been tweaked as it was very dark, mostly due to my crummy photo skills at the time. Andy.
  7. Can't beat a Tractor! Here's a few after a delve through my folders. Enjoy! Andy.
  8. Some cracking shots on here, keep 'em coming! A few more from me. First up is 60092, seen doing the honours on the docks trip at Millbrook on 23rd April. The Tug worked train 6B43 Eastleigh Yard to Southampton Western Docks conveying empty container flats and a solitary STVA double-deck car carrier. It's seen shunting the single car carrier into the loading sidings by the station before picking up the loaded wagons, which were conveying Renault Clios. The train left the docks, running as 6X44 Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh Yard with a fair load of containers and cars. The 60 was then put onto the afternoons 6V41 Eastleigh Yard to Westbury Yard engineers, seen thundering under the M27 at Nursling. Finally, a little more recent, a shot of 60071 "Ribblehead Viaduct" being Eastleighs' super shunter on a wet 14th May. Andy.
  9. If it's of use, attached are a couple of shots from underneath a Desiro. These were taken from a 444 at the Siemens open day at Northam last year, but the bogies/wheelsets are the same. I may have to get a set of the Colin Craig discs as well, got a 350 I've been meaning to weather up, so a set of discs will be a nice touch! Andy.
  10. Is anything internet based going to work properly for me today?

  13. Some more great pics being put up! Especially liking the ones from days gone! Only one to show, and that's of 60049 in charge of 6O26 Hinksey to Eastleigh engineers as it passes Shawford on 26th March. This was a little bit bittersweet, on one hand happy to get a 60 but the gen had been flying around to say that 60074 was to work this. Indeed, it came as far as Hinksey but the train was nearly 2 hours late as it passed Shawford, so I can only surmise that '74 had a problem and was swapped for '49. One day, '74 will head my way... Andy.
  14. Thanks Scott. I wish I'd gone to Radley instead of Oxford that day, means I would've caught '49 and the crane on the move. Never mind, you can't see it all! Andy.
  15. Evening all, Well, the TaTa Tug managed to find its way South again, ending up at Marchwood of all places. After working the 6Z15 Warrington to Eastleigh today (14th), it then continued forward to Marchwood light engine as 0B45. After an hour and a bit, it left with a solitary FAA wagon destined for Eastleigh to collect more wagons before continuing onto Didcot as 6V38. Video: Also seen on the travels was 60049 and the Bescot breakdown crane at Didcot on the 13th. This combo ran forward to Hinksey Yard on the same day. And finally, while digging around for some other stuff, I came across this. Seen at Nuneaton on 11/6/10 in its Railfreight Petroleum badges is 60054 "Charles Babbage" towing 66183, 66105 & 67011. This working came off the Leicester line before continuing down the WCML towards Crewe. I have no idea what this working was. Andy.
  16. I'm just sat here, wondering why King are singing about Oven Pride.

  18. Thanks for that Jo! I'm not complaining mind, good to see the 60's getting out and about! Andy.
  19. Interesting! It was just a flying visit then! I'm intrigued to know why more 60's are getting South. The trains they work don't really warrant one (I reckon), the likes of the engineers trains or the Mossend - Eastleigh could be handled by a 66. Is it just to keep driver knowledge on the class up? Andy.
  20. On Wednesday 6th, there were a couple of Tugs lurking around the South. Most interestingly was TaTa Steel liveried 60099, which was a long way from it's usual stamping ground! The loco had worked down on 6O15 Mossend - Eastleigh, forward from Warrington before going onto the Westbury engineers on Tuesday 5th. The next day, it worked 6O41 Westbury to Eastleigh engineers before heading North light engine as 0V38 Eastleigh to Didcot. The loco is seen off Campbell Road bridge as it approaches Eastleigh. Heading the other was way DB Red 60010, which worked down from Hinksey with 6O26 to Eastleigh, before carrying on to Westbury with 6V41. The loco is seen growling through Lee with the Westbury bound train. Hopefully 60074 can make it down my way! Would like to see it in the flesh! Andy.
  21. Yeah, is a bit strange but I guess there's some logic somewhere! I can only assume that Westbury or somewhere further West had a need for a 60, so they sent '63. I was expecting '07 to take some wagons for the return Hinksey trip, as a rake had been shunted close to the station with a tail lamp on, a sign that the Hinksey train is ready to go. '07 actually ran upto the wagons when it reversed in the yard to head out North! Still, I'm not complaining as I got to see some Tugs! Andy.
  22. Loving the pictures on here. Considering they were "endangered" at one point, they're turning up on some rather odd workings! Some shots attached from a trip out to Eastleigh on the 8th January. Didn't know there were going to be any Tugs about (apart from the super shunter) but two more turned up! First up is 60007 "Spirit of Tom Kendell" which arrived at Eastleigh on 6O15 Mossend - Eastleigh enterprise (forward from Wembley) before doing the Marchwood MOD trip. With three VGA's in tow for the return working, it makes a nice train to model! It then returned to Hinksey light as 0V27, in place of the regular engineers working The gen showed that 60063 was working the 6O26 Hinksey - Eastleigh engineers, but was going to be late. In the end, it came down light as 0O26. It ran into Eastleigh yard, picked up a chap and the came straight out and into Eastleigh T&RSMD. It then came back out to then work 6V41 Eastleigh - Westbury engineers. (Was dark and didn't get a good picture of it). The super shunter is still 60049, which was busying itself shunting the virtual quarry but did come close to the platform to pose for the camera! One of the regulars said that '49 is due an exam, so may be replaced by another shortly. And also a shot of 60045 "The Permanent Way Institution" sat at Didcot on 3rd January, with freshly painted 66118 for company. There was a slit in the bodyside that meant you could see into the loco, hopefully it's one of the lucky ones that's due for the next round of overhauls! Keep all the pictures and info coming, makes for a good read! Andy.
  23. Great thread, some fantastic shots in here! I've had a dig through what I've got, most are at Eastleigh from the last few years with some from Southampton Maritime and a couple from Millbrook. First up is 08482 with a solitary Seacow at Eastleigh on 16/2/07 I've always liked 08804's Yellow arrows and steps, makes it a bit different! Seen at Eastleigh on its own on 25/3/08 and again over a year later on 2/6/09 with the empty oil trip from the depot to the yard. Seen on 9/2/10 is 08482 shunting MLA's Bit of an odd one, but I believe 08904 had broken down earlier in the day. It ended up being attached to 08735 and dragged around the yard for the rest of the day! 28/5/10. Doing the depot trip with a pair of UID 66's and TTA's is 08735 on 8/2/11. It had the unofficial (and crudely applied!) name; "The Cement Mixer". Southampton Maritime on 14/5/11 has three on show. At the back is 08531, while resident scrapper 08575 sits rusting away at the front. Next to 70009 is 08624. Cut down 08995 shunts a hefty piece of Balfour Beatty equipment on 13/6/11. Shuttling FLA's around Southampton Maritime on 25/6/11 are 08531 on the left and 08624 in the middle. A catch that was the icing to a spectacular hour at Millbrook on 14/6/12 is 08785 shunting out a flat from a rake before shifting some loaded wagons. Hunslet hire-in 08873, still in RES colours, sits outside the repair shop at Southampton Maritime on 17/9/12. It's good to see these old beasts being needed and out earning their keep! I just wonder what will replace them when their time is finally up. Cheers, Andy.
  24. Had a close one tonight! Black Horse with no reflective collar stood in the road during thick fog. Glad I was doing 10 under the limit, otherwise I'd have hit it!
