  1. Great shots Dale! I was a little further up the line at St Cross, just south of Winchester and caught them both. 70018 with 4O54 Leeds to Southampton Maritime. 70010 with 4O51 Wentloog to Southampton Maritime. The South was a good place to be for Freightliner 70's yesterday, with 70001, 70009, 70013 & 70017 being used on container services to/from Southampton as well as the above. 70015 was supposedly used on the Maritime to Eastleigh Works & return movement of flats for/from refurbishment. The Colas 70's were also about, with 70805 hauling 70806 & 66849 on 6Y42 Hoo Junction to Eastleigh Yard engineers. Seen below near journeys end at Shawford. 70804 was also in use, working 6Z30 Westbury Yard to Eastleigh Yard departmental. 70806 did the honours on the return 6V31 working back to Westbury. 70804 is seen off Campbell Road bridge at journeys end. Before 70804 appeared, 70017 thrashed its way into Eastleigh station working a Southampton to Leeds service. (Be much appreciated if anyone knows the headcode!) Also attached are a few shots from previous weeks. First up is modified 70015 at Millbrook with 4O15 Hams Hall to Southampton Maritime. (13.05.2014) And on Bank Holiday Monday, 70802 whines through Crampmoor with 6Z30 Westbury Yard to Eastleigh Yard. This was my first capture of the service! (21.04.2014) A little dig through some folders found a crummy shot of 70001 at Nuneaton on what I believe to be one of it's first few container services (no idea what the working was!). Means the class is now 4 years old. (11.06.2010) Andy.
  2. Thanks Dava! I'll do a thread in due course, just need to sort through the photos. Andy.
  3. That is a great photo 4630! Well, spent a few days Oop North at the end of last week. The main reason was the Brake Van tour around Scunthorpe Steelworks which was fantastic! Were we stayed was a short hop from Barnetby so most of our time was spent in and around that area. The day we arrived, Thursday 17th, was excellent with no less than 6 different class members in action between early afternoon to mid evening. First up is 60040 "The Territorial Army Centenary" heading under Knabbs Bridge with 6E32 Preston Docks to Lindsey Oil Refinery. 60024 heads through Knabbs Crossing with 6E54 Kingsbury to Humber Oil Refinery. Another oil working seen is 6E82 Rectory Junction to Lindsey Oil Refinery in the capable hands of 60044. A real bonus was catching a 60 on the Iron Ore circuit, with 60007 "The Spirit of Tom Kendell" obliging on 6K26 Santon FOR - Immingham Ore Terminal at New Barnetby. One of the oil workings out of Immingham is seen from Knabbs Bridge with 60015 on 6M24 Lindsey Oil Refinery to Kingsbury. A nice modelable train with a Class 60! 60040 is seen again, this time with 6V19 Immingham Sorting Sidings to Llanwern Exchange Sidings. Yet another oil working is seen with 60092 at the helm. The working is 6E41 Westerleigh Murco to Lindsey Oil Refinery Another bonus was a different 60 on Ores, with 60007 being swapped out for 60024. Seen here at Barnetby with 6T28 Immingham Ore Terminal to Santon FOR. With the next day being Good Friday, we headed to Doncaster which was surprisingly busy until the early afternoon. A quick check on RTT and Barnetby was again the choice place for a pleasant evening spotting. Only one Tug was seen, which was 60015 again working 6M24 Lindsey Oil Refinery to Kingsbury. After the tour around the Steelworks on the Saturday, we tried Brocklesby Junction, where 60044 is seen working 6E41 Westerleigh Murco to Lindsey Oil Refinery. A look inside the signal box was also had, thanks to the friendly signalman! All in all, a good few days! The pub next to Barnetby station (Whistle & Flute) is also worth a mention, with the Steak & Ale pie being superb! Andy.
  4. Asked the girl I worked with if she'd fancy going on a date. I got 5 excuses but not a no, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Ah well, maybe there'll be a bit more success next time. I look forward to the mockery I'll get when back at work Wednesday!

  5. Good to see everyones Colas pictures popping up! Attached are two from me from last week. First up is 70804 trundling through Denchworth with its 3 Ospreys in tow working 6M50 Westbury to Bescot. 04.03.2014 And to break the Colas theme, a shot of 70020 opening up at Didcot Parkway after being given the Green with 4O51 Wentloog to Southampton. Quite an impressive amount of black for a fairly new loco! Andy.
  6. Good to see that more great pictures are being added to this thread! Here's a handful from me form the last few months, the Tug activity has perhaps been a little quiet down South. A noticeable exception was 60066 making it down on a car train to the docks. It didn't stick around, heading straight back to Halewood with the empties. First up is 60045 "The Permanent Way Institution" at Frost Lane, Hythe, working 6B93 Eastleigh Yard to Fawley empty tanks. This spot has just been cleared of a load of bushes and trees to allow this view. Useful as it's a 5 min walk from home! 23.01.2014 The next day, and under much gloomier skies, 60040 "The Territorial Army Centenary" is seen at Southampton Central working 6B44 Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh Yard. 24.01.2014 The newest shot, 60059 "Swinden Dalesman" throbs through Denchworth working 6B33 Theale to Robeston bogie tanks. 04.03.2014 Andy.
  7. Great shot Jim, certainly stands out in the gloom! Hopefully 804 is used for tomorrows 6M50 as I'll be up Didcot way. Will more than likely try to catch it at Denchworth if the weather's good, give us a wave if you're conducting again! Managed to catch 70805 on the run today, seen whining through Millbrook on 0Z70 Eastleigh Yard to Westbury Down TC. Andy
  8. Just not enjoying work anymore. Sad really that I can't wait to hand my notice in when a year ago it was all so different.

Yikes, that's a long time to put up with it! I guess I should be thankful that I've only been were I am for 6 years.

I sympathise with you. One job I had many people here would consider a dream job. It was for the first year and a half. We were only a small team. Then the 'good half' left in fairly quick succession. I spent the next seven years wanting out. Marriage, kids and mortgage meant I had to stay put. I really feel for anyone who finds work such a rut, especially in the present work climate.

  9. If it's any consolation, I got caught in a rain shower at Mottisfont! Saw the L/E path get activated in RTT so thought one of the others may have been used! Shame it was back to work today, would've caught all the drama with 70805 rescuing the smoked shed! Andy.
  10. Here's a few from me: Abandoned at the back of Warrington Arpley is Fertis liveried 56018. 09.07.2010 Coasting towards Dean station, 56078 & 56113 pair up to work 6Z31 Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury Yard engineers. 11.01.2014 Crawling upto the signal that protects Eastleigh East Junction, 56113 works light engine from Westbury to refuel. 02.01.2014 Roaring through Lockerly during a very brief gap in the heavy rain, 56113 is seen working 6Z29 Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury Yard. 03.01.2014 Working light engine, 56303 heads towards Shawford working 0Z56 Eastleigh RC to Washwood Heath. 08.04.2013 Screaming towards Radley, 56303 is seen hard at work on the loaded 6Z92 Didcot Power Station to Calvert flyash. 30.04.2013 Drifting down through Radley, 56311 tows the empty 6Z91 Calvert to Didcot Power Staion flyash. This was the only time I caught this train with 56303 not being the loco! 08.02.2013 Rolling into journeys end, 56312 "Jeremiah Dixon" works 6Z56 Long Marston to Totton Yard with several wagons for use with the Rail-Vac. 20.09.2013 Keep those pictures coming! Andy.
  11. Impressive! I bet it sounded pretty good doing that as well! As Jo posted, 70801 was used on 6V62 and If I'd not been out with a friend today, I would've headed up Didcot way to catch it. Although it was initially posted that 70803 was to do the honours! I did capture 801 leaving Eastleigh to meet up with 6V62, unfortunately I was on the wrong side for the Sun. Video is linked below, as the picture not much cop. 70801 was reported as working back to Eastleigh as 0Z77 tonight. So much for it sticking to the Eastleigh to Westbury trips! Andy.
  12. For anyone interested, 70801 is out this evening. Having worked light from Eastleigh to Westbury earlier on this afternoon, it has been reported working 6Z30 Westbury to Eastleigh NDS in the company of 56302. I assume it should work the 6Z31 return. Hopefully it does the same tomorrow night so I can get a vid of it! Andy. *EDIT: According to the local gen, 70801 should work this for the rest of the week. Should do as written above but then be left at Eastleigh for the 56 to take the train back to Westbury.*
  13. Thanks Jo! Agreed, still yet to actually catch the evening working. Silly really when it's usually a good working to catch a 56! Andy.
  14. I hope the rumour of class starting out on the Westbury engineers comes to fruition, means they should hopefully see use on the service to Eastleigh! Anyway, a few shots of 70801 at Eastleigh on its maiden voyage in the company of 56302. These have been up on WNXX so a few may have already seen them. I really should've taken some detail shots while it was sat there waiting the road... Andy.
  15. Some great pictures being posted here! Been a little while since I posted any pics, so thought I'd oblige. Taken today, 66139 works over Battledown Flyover with 6V38 Eastleigh Yard to Didcot enterprise. (21.02.14) Pushing wagons behind the repair shed, 66414 is seen at Southampton Maritime. (11.01.14) DRS liveried but Freightliner owned 66420 drags 66542 and 4O49 Crewe to Southampton Maritime through Southampton Central. (17.07.12) Storming through Mottisfont & Dunbridge, 66518 works 6O49 Theale Lafarge to Wool empty sand hoppers. (13.07.13) In great Autumn light, 66540 "Ruby" heads through Uffington with 4O59 Wentloog to Southampton Maritime. (02.11.13) Rushing down hill at Popham, 66541 & 66594 work 4O15 Hams Hall to Southampton Maritime. (20.08.13) A relatively short lived working, 66596 ambles through Hedge End with 6Z75 Chichester RFT to Eastleigh Yard. (09.09.13) Speeding through Tamworth, 66598 works an Immingham to Rugeley P.S coal train. (05.07.13) Andy.
  16. Some excellent pictures in this thread, I really do keep meaning to head over to the B&H to catch the Super Sheds on their stomping grounds! So, a few from me from around the Hampshire area. Taken a few weeks ago, debranded 59002 "Alan J Day" passes Lee, between Redbridge & Romsey working the occasional 7V07 Chichester RFT to Merehead Quarry. (28.01.14) Seen leaving Eastleigh Yard after a run round due to the Chandlers Ford line being shut, 59004 "Paul A Hammond" works 7O35 Westbury to Fareham ARC loaded stone. (05.02.13) Posted as the final working (but turned out to be 3rd last!), 59101 "Village of Whatley" drifts down grade from Beaulieu Road with the 7V52 Hamworthy Quay to Whatley Quarry empties. (03.06.12) After undergoing winter maintenance at Knights Rail, 59101 "Village of Whatley" leads 59002 "Alan J Day" & 59102 "Village of Chantry" through Crampmoor, between Eastleigh & Romsey, with 0F59 Eastleigh Alstom to Westbury Down TC. (02.01.13) Rounding the curve at Mottisfont & Dunbridge, 59203 takes charge of 7V16 Fareham ARC to Whatley Quarry empties. (25.03.13) In good Sun, 59206 "John F Yeoman - Rail Pioneer" works through Crampmoor with 7V16 Fareham ARC to Merehead Quarry empty stone. (23.04.13) Will upload a few more later! Keep those pics coming. Andy.
  17. Thanks Mick! Yes, did read that on WNXX, not good but should be an easy repair! Andy.
  18. Been enjoying the thread, certainly very interesting to the see the variety of things you get upto! Does make me sit there and think "I want that as a job!" Maybe one day, when I've grown even more fed up with the NHS. Attached are a few pics taken earlier in the month at Stenson Junction, with all the locos Colas use (at the moment!) in evidence. First up is 47739 "Robin of Templecombe" working a heavy sounding 6Z88 Burton Wetmore Sidings to Whitemoor. 10.10.130 Next up came 66848 with the empty 4V30 Ratcliffe PS to Avonmouth. 10.10.13 And finally, running late, came 56105 with 6S96 Sinfin to Grangemouth Ineos. 10.10.13 Not a bad variety for a few hours! Andy.
  19. Good to see the 60's that were for sale have been snapped up. Be very interesting to see where they end up! So, earlier in the month I went away for a few days spotting! The classic areas of Barnetby, Burton Salmon, Milford Junction & Stenson Junction were all visited, with 60's mainly found on the heavy oil workings out of Humberside. A bit of a downer was seeing the same locos twice, as the workings they're on are out and back! 60010 was first up, working 6E32 Preston Docks to Lindsey but I only achieved an awful picture so it's not included. 60019 "Port of Grimsby & Immingham" followed with a lenghty 6E54 Kingsbury to Lindsey. 7.10.13 60091 rolls through in the setting Sun with 6M24 Lindsey to Kingsbury loaded tanks. 7.10.13 Returning the next morning, 60091 is seen again with 6E46 Kingsbury to Lindsey. 8.10.13 Heading through Melton Ross, 60062 "Stainless Pioneer" works 6M00 Humber to Kingsbury. 8.10.13 60062 is seen at Stenson Jn with 6M57 Lindsey to Kingsbury. 10.10.13 Ex-Eastleigh shunter 60065 "Spirit of Jaguar" has spread it's wings as it works 6D44 Bescot to Toton. 66198 & 66177 were in the consist. 10.10.13 With empty tanks in tow, 60019 slows for the crossover with 6E54 Kingsbury to Humber. 10.10.13 60010 rolls over North Staffs Jn with 6E41 Westerleigh Murco to Lindsey. 10.10.13 And finally, I managed to catch 60074 "Teenage Spirit" as last! With the heads-up that is was to work 6B33 Theale to Robeston Murco tanks, a trip out to catch was a must! So after driving the 70 odd miles from home, I was not impressed for the heavens to open as it rolled down the loop at Denchworth! As I walked back to the car, the rain cleared to reveal fantastic Sun, so a little chase was underway to get a decent shot. First seen waiting in the loop at Challow, where even the driver fancied a shot, it's then seen carrying on its journey near Uffington. Hopefully I can catch it a bit more local to home next time! Andy.
  20. Spent 4 days up North and saw 66109 every single day... Barnetby continuously on coal, Stainforth on oil & Stenson Jn on steel. 250 of the damn things and I see the same one!

  21. A few more Tugs in the South from the last month or so. First up is 60054, which on the 10th August was utilised on the Great Eastern Freighter railtour from Ipswich to the MNR and then round Felixstowe Docks. It's seen here waiting to join the mainline at Ely. 60065 "Spirit of Jaguar" has taken up shunting duties at Eastleigh. On the 12th/13th August it was taken for a spin on the mainline, working the daily engineers to Westbury and back. It's seen here on the 13th passing the site of Nursling station with 6O41 Westbury to Eastleigh. Being used to move a single fuel oil TTA into the depot, 60065 is seen again, this time from Campbell Road bridge on the 4th September. Also on the 4th September, Eastleighs previous shunter, 60045 "The Permanent Way Institution" was used on 6O41 Westbury to Eastleigh engineers. It later did the return, 6V41, back to Westbury. The next day, I was told that a pair would be on 6O41 and that they'd be EWS ones to boot! Sure enough, 50% of the active fleet in EWS colours was on the train, with 60045 & 60049 doing the honours. 60049 was apparently being moved so it could get back to Toton for an exam, with it transferring onto 6X38 to Didcot and thence onto the Bescot etc. Still shuttling around Eastleigh, 60065 is seen under Death Bridge while being unhooked from a set of wagons today. This wasn't the reason I was out in this weather though... ...this was! 60024 has 60049 in tow as they work 6V41 Eastleigh to Westbury engineers. 60049 had come down from Didcot that morning on 6O15 before being used on the Marchwood (wasn't mentioned on the gen groups, so I missed it!). It was being taken to become the Super Shunter at Westbury. Andy.
  22. We were told in a team brief to "Smile and look happy". I always thought NHS stood for No Happy Staff?

  24. Loving the pictures that are coming through. Never knew the 67's worked proper Virgin services, gives me an excuse to run my 67 on the MK2 rake I have! Anyway, a few more from me. Daylight breaks onto the front of 67006 "Royal Sovereign" as it comes into Redbridge. The working is 7X19 Didcot to Marchwood via Laverstock & Redbridge and had 11 KWA "Warflats" with Warrior tanks on them. 6/2/2013. 67016 speeds towards Shawford with 5O61 Wembley to Eastleigh T&RSMD ECS. 29/11/2011. 67022 tows 70000 "Brittania" through Shawford with 5Z70 Didcot GWS to Eastleigh T&RSMD. 3/9/2012. At the head of 1R34 London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street is 67025 "Western Star". 19/8/2013. Leaning through the curve at Ashurst New Forest, 67028 drags 35028 and its stock on 1Z98 Swanage to London Waterloo via Laverstock. 27/4/2012. And an "old" one from me, taken on my first camera! 67029 before it was named is seen at Doncaster with a train of scrap SWT slamdoor EMU's. ~2005. Andy.
  25. Some great pictures, certainly liking the early pictures of the class! Here's a few from me, mainly from the Wessex area. Royal Claret liveried 67005 "Queens Messenger" leads an ECS service towards Eastleigh, with 67024 on the rear. The working is 5Z40 Eastleigh T&RSMD to Chichester, which went into the East Yard for some reason... 30/6/2012. The other Royal loco, 67006 "Royal Sovereign" is seen from Campbell Road bridge as it waits to enter Eastleigh. It's working 0V38 Marchwood MOD to Eastleigh Yard. 6/2/2013. The bosses must've been away for this! 67006, 67026 & 67005 are all multi'd up as they exchange the token with the Signaler at Marchwood. The trio are working 6B94 Fawley CAD to Eastleigh Yard, giving the driver 9,900hp for a mere 14 TTA's! 7/2/2013 Seen on a cold January evening, 67014 "Thomas Telford" pauses at Banbury with 1H65 Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone. 4/1/2013. 67020 powers up through Beaulieu Road with 1Z58 Swanage to London Victoria VSOE. 67028 is on the rear. 7/6/2013. Union Jack branded 67026 "Diamond Jubilee" waits to enter Eastleigh Depot with 5Z21 Southampton Western Dock to Eastleigh T&RSMD. 30/6/2012. Royals 67026 "Diamond Jubilee" and 67006 "Royal Sovereign" pair up to work 4O40 BMW Oxford to Southampton Eastern Docks, seen pulling away from Eastleigh. 4/2/2013. That's all for now, need to have a dig through the folders to see what else I've got! Andy.
