  1. Security has been a bit of a problem at Sullivan Scrap so a new fence has started to go up...
  2. I have now ballasted the new track. I've also got some paint on the grabber, I went for a rather bright orange that will need a little more toning down.... Some more grass has also grown around the layout. Still plenty to do before September Armitage.......
  3. So after waiting nearly 8 weeks for the GP10 to arrive it arrives on my Birthday! What a great present for myself. Well this is what is looks like out of the box. This is with the body off confirming that it is fitted with a 21 pin decoder. This is where he speaker will go looks like you need a 35 x 18mm rectangular unit to go in there or anything smaller. So for anyone looking to buy one of these you will need a 21 pin sound decoder, I'm using an ESU 54499 and you will need a speaker that is 35 x 18mm or smaller. The decoder comes with a 40 x 20 mm in an enclosure which is too big.
  4. Yes it's a little cheap and an exact copy of the previous auction so buyer beware......
  5. This looks like an absolute bargain! Does anybody else think this might be a scam? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263005024718?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT This loco was sold on the 18th May for £112 by a UK seller, it is now for sale with exactly the same description by a Chinese seller who registered on Ebay on the 16th May who currently has 0 feedback. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Model-Railway-HO-Gauge-Atlas-Dash-8-40CW-Loco-Sound-/262974001757?hash=item3d3a78d25d:g:ntwAAOSwcB5ZEG4W
  6. I have had to take more track up in order to get a better flow. I have taken 12" of track off. It will look something like this...
  7. This Freemo layout has been used a few times at Freemo events and has worked OK. However when it was built the ends were not quite built to the correct standard. It didn't meet this requirement "The tracks must be at 90 degrees to the module end and continue for 6” straight from the module end. " In view of this I have started to try and rectify this on the worst end. So first I tried pulling up the track and re-fixing it... That didn't give me 6" of straight track so I ripped up 8" of track. I then marked 90 degrees to the end and 6" in, as you can see I may need to pull of bit more off.....
  8. I have now received a new loco for the fleet....I think I like pink It's an Atlas GP40-2 Florida East Coast I will be installing ESU Loksound decoder soon...
  9. I've just uploaded a few (97!) pics to https://ukrailwaypic...on-Freemo-Meet/ My favourite is this
  10. Right I have now bought some of this from Postpack and I have some spare, so if anyone is going to the Christow Freemo this weekend and wants some let me know and i'll bring it along. I have 7 x 2 metre lengths available at a very reasonable price.....
  11. The one I've ordered is a B30-7 in Chessie paint. I've ordered from Osborne models for a very good price also £189 thanks for the inspiration Mal! Sorry to go a little off topic, keep up the good work.
  12. Mal, looking good so far, I love that B23-7, just a classic loco. I like it so much I have just ordered a Chessie one, I'm holding you responsible
  13. That is very good and well detailed, I especially like the guy with his foot on the ladder, I wonder what they are chatting about....
  14. I have just ordered an Intermountain GP10 with DCC. I will be adding sound. From what I have discovered from the net so far is that it uses an ESU 21 pin decoder, so I will purchase the sound version probably an ESU 54499. Can anyone tell me what size speaker is needed and where does it go? Thanks Simon
  15. I have just placed my first order with modeltrainstuff, I have heard good things about them. They have 30% off some Atlas items so it was rude not to order this....I have wanted one of these for a while. http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Atlas-HO-10001853-GP40-2-FEC-p/atl-10001853.htm Use code 30atlas Simon
  16. It was made alot easier with the help of this from Aldi
  17. Now thats a fiddly little bas£$%^ but I did it!
  18. I have been working on this for the scrap yard..... I haven't started on the grabber yet which will be the most challenging part!
  19. The best sounds for the 751 are from http://sounds.artol.sk/home/ I've had the Roco 751 with factory sound and the Artol version is better.
  20. I thought I'd better get some more work done on this and hopefully have it near completed before the Devon Freemo in May. First I have "planted" the bailers, I did this by cutting around the shape of the base in the balsa wood and then half filling with plasticard. They then sit partly out of the ground which gives it a more planted look. I have also been working on one of the locos I bought new last April. I fitted an ESU decoder but just couldn't get it to run without stuttering and stalling. I tried everything, replaced the wires from trucks to board, cleaned everything still the same! So I put it to one side and thought what a waste of £130 and I'm not buying another Athearn loco again! So I thought I would try and fit a capacitor to improve the stalling and it worked a treat, there was just enough room next to the speaker for a 470uF 16V cap as below. Still plenty to do........................
  21. Well mine arrived today! This gives you some idea of what you get They look like very good mouldings. Simon
  22. I don't think the Powercab is too bad for accessing the higher functions The way Paul explained it is slightly easier than the way I do it Press and hold Shift and 0, it will then display F10-19 Now press the number for the function you require i.e. for function 15 press 5 If you want access to F20-28 then Press Shift and 0 Twice I find it quite easy to use once you get used to it.

Has anyone tried painting the cables for the lights orange?

I contacted Modellers Mecca and they confirmed what you have just said, so I cancelled the order as it hadn't been posted. I have now ordered 08202 from Peters Spares and a Parkside Dundas Grampus wagon kit, that should keep me busy

Well I'm not sure what I've ordered as after reading this thread part number 7D-008-002 was produced as D3045 and 08529 was never produced. Has anyone else ordered one of these from Modellers Mecca?
