  1. I have had to put his layout on hold at the moment as I'm building a US layout for the Freemo meet in July.
  2. Progress update, all the cork is stuck down and about half of the wires have been soldered on, how long have I got........ I need to get 3 x Tortoise point motors to enable me to finish the electrics.
  3. Jordan, it's looking real good, it will be good to see this in reality at TVNAM. The rough track gives it real character.
  4. Some progress on the Freemo build, the remaining switches have arrived. All the track has been cut and joined up. Next job is to cut the cork for the underlay, 3mm seems very thick!
  5. Well I thought I'd better start a thread for the Freemo Module/Layout me and my son are building. This is going to be a dual purpose layout, firstly it's a layout for my 15 year son to use in his bedroom, secondly it's being built to freemo standards so that it can be used at the Armitage Freemo meet in July. The era is going to be 1980s as my sons first loco is a Walthers GP38-2 in Family Lines CRR livery. It's 6ft x 18" widening to 20". There will be a Lumber yard and a small loco stabling area with a single engine house. Here is the plan So far we have the boards built and most of the track this layout plan has been through a few tweaks and this is the final plan, I'm just waiting for 2 switches then we can start laying the track. The track will be Peco Code 83 with electro frogs and it will be laid on 3mm cork. Switches will be controlled by servo with local push buttons and control via DCC.
  6. I have now cut all the track and laid it out on the board, inserted all the joiners and insulating joiners. I've used a mixture of concrete and wooden sleepered track. The next job is wiring the points for DCC and soldering all the droppers. All the tracks need to be straightened, I'll do that as they get fixed down. I was going to use 1/16 cork as the roadbed but i'm not sure that it needs it?
  7. Not much going on with the layout at the moment as I need to buy more points before track laying can commence. In the meantime I have received a couple of Zimo sound chips from www.artol.sk, one for the CSD 555 steam loco and one for my "Goggles" I'm not quite sure that it sounds right but then I haven't heard the real thing! I couldn't find anywhere to put the speaker so it had to go in the cab, I may have to get the hacksaw out in order to put the speaker in the boiler area. I love the sound of this and it is so easy to install.
  8. This one at 4.04 Euros! http://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com/produkt/Preiser/75-4-0-49762-021006-0-0-0-0-0-0-grp-gb-p-0/ein_produkt.html
  9. So here is the plan laid out on the board, thats slightly slanted a few degrees.
  10. Marian, I like the look of the T211 do you have any idea of what chassis is required for it http://www.pojezdy.eu/eshop/h0-locomotives-kits/1046-h0-t211-photo-etched-kit-diesel-engine.html Today I have printed the plan in full size, I am in the process of laying it out on the board, I can then try to slant it a couple of degrees.
  11. Thanks Marian, it looks much better than mine now the tracks are parallel. Looks like i'm going to need one these http://www.artol.sk/drobne-stavby/2128-sik-121007.html and one of these http://www.artol.sk/drobne-stavby/1954-sik-111006.html , wow this is getting expensive! Any ideas for the shed on the left as Rob says it's some kind of trolley shed for maintenance of the track, but is there a model available that is similar, i'm not good at scratch building stuff!
  12. Thats exactly the one I'm going to buy, it is a model of Dacice! As Marian says it would be shame to have to cut the building down to get it to fit in, I would like to have the whole station building it's such a great looking structure. Now I need some more wooden sleepered points, anyone want some concrete sleepered ones, they are in the classifieds if you are intrested
  13. Marian, thanks I like your trackplan, I would like to do it this way it just looks better. The only thing I need to check is that there is room for the impressive station building, it ia a rather large station building for quite a small town. Do you have the Anyrail any file that you could send me, I can get it printed full size and see how it looks on my 8' x 18" board? So T1 through the middle can be concrete track but all the points are wooden? I'm using Peco code 75 medium points
  14. Yes they will get weathered as some point, first job is to finalise the track plan and start laying some track! I was going to use concrete sleepered track for the T1 track, but would they use concrete sleepered points, or would that only be on a fast route which this wouldn't be?
  15. I said that this layout was going to be 1990 onwards, I always wanted to have a steam loco so here it is. It's just arrived so I haven't even dared take it out of the box yet. The Zimo sound chip is on order The other members of the fleet are:- Roco Bardotka 751 041 (DCC sound) Roco Bardotka 749 250 (DCC sound) Roco Goggles 754 067 (DCC sound chip on the way!) I also have a few wagons and coaches.
  16. Thanks for all the feedback so far, I knew that this wouldn't be the finished track plan and that it would need a few tweaks which is why I posted it up! I've made a couple of alterations and I think I've numbered the tracks as in Marian's post. Although Jack suggests that the track closest to the station is T2 and the lower track is T3 I've moved the point on the far right further to the right making the loops a bit longer, I've also made the gap between T1 and T2 bigger so that a platform can go there as suggested by Bill. Joseph, my intension is to use this as a terminal station and when I get a bigger room for my layout (The attic) and can make it into a through station. What do you think?
  17. Well I'm finally getting this started now, my new layout is a Czech one! It's going to be 8' x 18", with a add on fiddle yard on the right hand end. The era is going to be 1990 onwards really. I'm basing the track plan on "Dacice", with compression. Well here is the track plan, tell me what you think. The base board is built and i've printed the plan to see how it looks. Any comments welcome.
  18. You are doing a great job keep it up, I like you mimic panel it's very neat.
  19. I was looking at those beer coaches on ben-zerba but I couldn't find any prototype pictures. Where and when are they used?
  20. I like that brake van, did they get used later on by CD?
  21. Ian, Have you ordered from pragomodel before, I know you said you have had stuff from them but I can't remember if you visited or had it via mail order?
  22. Ian, Can I ask where you got your double deck coaches from? I have just ordered a Piko one from Gaugemaster, but wanted a couple more?
  23. I just gone through this whole thread, some great photos, brings back good memories of my spotting days, wish I'd have taken more pics. Keep them coming
  24. I was looking at these on http://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com/produkt/Rocky-Rail/108-4-004001-213407-0-0-0-22-10-2-0-gatt-gb-p-0/ein_produkt.html, looks like a great looking model. I don't know anything about Rocky Rail, so how does it run?
  25. Ian, is this the type you were after? http://www.pojezdy.eu/eshop/h0-locomotives/1355-h0-749-cd-bardotka-by-mtb-analog.html
