  1. First bufferbeam coupling hole filled. Still needs a bit of rubbing down and Tcutting when the paint is fully dry.
  2. Arrived this morning, test run and in bits already. The buffer beam comes off fairly easily, just ease the retaining collars off the back of the buffers (watch where they ping to) the buffers come out with their springs, then slide a knife carefully in behind the buffer beam itself. That hole needs filling in and the buffer holes will be drilled through so the buffers push back fully with squares of plasticard counter drilled a smaller size behind and the buffer collars glued back on.
  3. As already mentioned the gap between the top of the cab windows and the cab roof rainstrip does appear to be too small, looking at the pictures in Strathwoods new book 'Looking back at Western Region hydraulics' the rainstrip does appear to rise slightly to the middle but interestingly the two pictures on page 70 showing four locos at Swindon, three of these seem to have an additional strip between the rainstrip and cab windows, the numbers of the locos with this are D9507,D9502 and possibly D9504 (difficult to read the number on the last one).
  4. A useful picture jcb 3c, interesting to see the two railway vehicles have gray roofs, would this have been a translucent material to give light inside or was it just under coat or unpainted? Model manufacturers mostly paint the roof body colour, an easy improvement would be to paint and weather this to more resemble the real thing. Merfyn, good to see pictures of your models again, I would be interested to know what smaller wheels your Karrier Bantam cab unit uses, it has been said on another forum that this model was stretched scale wise to fit the standard Base models chassis and is nearer S scale than 00.
  5. Well could have knocked me down with a feather, I took my C of T apart today to fit the detail parts, remove the coupling pockets etc and was looking at ways of removing that 'orrible lump in the tender. Looking into the underside of the tender body I could see metal through holes and at first thought a lump of metal had been moulded within the plastic. Putting a knife in under the coal at the front and levering up gently it was possible to simply lift the lump off the top of the tender, its a tight fit between the tool boxes but it will lift out and pull off at the back, leaving a flat space to build up a load of the real stuff. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, hope it helps.
  6. Great to have this model available and have the NRM benefit from it. Not sure if I missed something but is it in the 1957/61 preserved livery, if so the sand boxes should be red according to pictures I have? Not that its made any difference to me as I've just ordered mine over the phone from Will at the NRM.
  7. Is this the Judith Edge 4mm scale kit? I have been thinking about building the 0-6-0 BR Western Region one.
  8. I bought a copy of Branch Line Video's, Memories of the Bodmin & Wadebridge Rly at Wadebridge exhibition yesterday, on the back cover is a picture of a Scammell 3 wheel tractor unit on a 3 plank wagon behind a beattie well tank with a BR standard brake and further freight wagons behind that, probably being shunted in Wadebridge station in the 60s.
  9. Hi Will, good to see you Bill and Tom at the weekend, the layout is looking good, the bridge is instantly recognisable as the one outside Par Harbour.

    Geoff.

  10. Very interesting photos Adam, could you do a link or point me in the right direction to find this photo collection. Thanks bubbles.
