  1. Open day at Bideford this Saturday http://www.rmweb.co....650#entry376650 I just posted some pics of a previous open day in 97 and some rather grainy shot of a special to Torrington in 75.
  2. Thanks for the reply Pennine, as you say a narrow window and not a combination of wagon livery/ loco that I recall seeing before.
  3. I'm puzzled by this picture. http://www.cyber-her...20P%20Arms.html The last wagon, next to the brake appears to be raifreight red livery but surely the picture must pre-date rail-freight red with a class 25 at the head. So what date did rail-freight red come into use and when did the class 25s leave the west-country?
  4. Wow..... thats a real feast of 70s and 80s railway nostalgia.
  5. Scammell Townsman at Paignton http://brdiesels.webs.com/thejdscollection1.htm, scroll down to photo 6, some lovely 60s and 70s pics on this site
  6. Thanks Charlie, I thought you might be along to put be right .
  7. I was there today, excellent isn't it, It has been around for awhile but I have not seen it on-line before. It is actually a tongue in cheek poke at the Ffestiniog Railway, or was it the Welsh Highland, who produced a similar, although serious publicity film.
  8. Jim what a lovely little model, can you tell us a bit more detail about how you made it, thanks Geoff.
  9. Hi Neil, thought I felt my ears burning. The layouts looking good, can we expect to see you in MR again seeing as Mr Nevard has just paid you a visit? Thanks for the kind comment. Here's a pic of D6347, Silver Fox on a Pair of Black Beattles with spocked wheels fitted, its been doing sterling service on my Layout for nearly as many years as the real ones lasted on BR.
  10. A great picture, is the Morri Traveller the Oxford or Classix one. We had one just like that when we were first married, over 30 years ago now .. But the paint had come off the aluminium roof leaving it silver, the faded green looks just right, the models I have seen in the shops look too bright.
  11. I just came across this http://www.derbysulz...staustell79.jpg on a link from another thread, wonder if I could get away with a train like that in model form . Here's a link to the page of the site its on http://www.derbysulzers.com/devon1.html.

    Dapol Class 22

I have been looking at the picture of D6319 in Model Rail and while it looks pretty good and not wanting to be too negative I have just realised why it looks wrong. The roof on green and early blue class 22s was body colour to behind the cab doors. Was D6319 different or have Dapol got it wrong, if so hope they get it right on the production models.
  13. I have just been trying to justify one of these models and started wondering how they were moved around the country, would one be within the loading gauge for rail haulage on a well wagon? Or were they more likely to be moved by a road haulage contractor, does anyone know of any pictures?
  14. A few pictures found on Flickr. Mallard60022

      Thought Lyd was in Kent?

  16. It is a great shame about those horrible curtains I wonder if Hornby could be persuaded to produce some minus the curtains, still the corridor side looks alright I suppose.
  17. Wow, thats looking good, really looking forward to seeing this at Wadebridge.
  18. I always thought the Peco cardboard interiors looked great inside the kitmaster coaches, you still see them on Ebay now and again, I have a few tucked away that I could post some pictures of if it would help.
  19. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before in this thread but there looks to be a gap on the short bonnet end between the lower part of the buffer beam and the steps, which is strange as it's filled in correctly on the other end. A small square of black plasticard should put the error right.
  20. That new bike.Take a look at ukGSer (google it) I'm bubbles on there, its not all GSs, a bit of a mad house but a realy great group of honest and helpful folk. It will cost you £12 to join and get the most out of it but it's worth ever penny,

  21. John Isherwood (cctransuk) has p.m.ed me asking the colour I used to match the buffer beam and as my pms seem not to be working at the moment but also because it may be useful to others here's the answer... Mostly RaiMatch wpanel yellow pre64, (no304 I think but this number may be wrong as I've had the jar so long its difficult to read) with a little Humbrol matt white enamel no 34 to lighten it and because there was a slight orange tone missing from the mix, a dab of RailMatch BR maroon no 306 (I think). This was thinned with white spirit and washed over the filled area in two coats to fill any slight in-perfections. Hope this helps, by the way John I must get some of those transfers of yours soon.
  22. The brake shoes once fitted stop a lot of the wheel side play and seem to improve the slow running, but they do need glueing in the slightly too large holes.
  23. Thanks guys, still much work to be done but looking better.
  24. First bufferbeam coupling hole filled. Still needs a bit of rubbing down and Tcutting when the paint is fully dry.
