1. As the unit leaves the station it passes The Travelling Post Office at the London end of the platform. 2. Its a great shame the old thread is lost but good to see this continuation. Back in April Mrs bubbles2 and myself spent 4 nights at The Old Luggage Van https://www.chycor.co.uk/holidays/railholiday/ at St Germans. ">http:// Home sweet home for 4 nights. 3. Crimson, Maroon, Lake, I get very confused by the way BR red is described. Surely crimson up to 1956 then maroon until BR blue. Wasn't lake an LMS livery?
4. Welcome to RMWeb gasky, do you post on Flickr? Link to my Flickr favourites, loads of BR days West Country pictures. https://www.flickr.com/photos/45603744@N06/favorites
5. A rather distant one, not sure if there is a loco on the far end of the train of loaded wagons. https://www.flickr.com/photos/elmtreephotos/8386568969/in/photolist-a1KWK8-qw9zyL-a1RAuG-dtNopK-dURq4m-anYJe5-egvMJN-dM6mLH-pZYQEG-qS7gfB
6. The first picture of the Western on clay wagons in post 376 looks like St Blazey to me with the main line bridge in the background under which the line to the docks passed and the clay haul road to Fowey. Some great pictures here thanks for sharing them. Edit, you beat me to it Paul.
7. You could be right Gilbert, I'm sure I have seen black engineering wagons sign written with white lettering, although the lettering may have been a latter addition without a complete repaint. I also understand the yellow/straw lettering may have faded or weathered to near white in colour.
8. A good choice by Cambrian I think as these could be seen in trains hauled by LSWR Adams tanks.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/110691393@N07/12189806934 to class 50 diesels...... https://www.flickr.com/photos/117983829@N03/13899211575/in/faves-45603744@N06/
9. There is a picture in Heyday of The Hydraulics by Hugh Dady of a Hymek at Crofton with a train comprising a shark brake, 2 herrings, 2 dogfish and 6 more herring. The ballast wagons appear to be a mix of black and gulf red.
10. Also sheet BL138, I'm not sure I understand the difference between the transfer sheets and are these all straw/yellow in colour or are some white for gulf red livery? Perhaps John will be along to enlighten us presently.
11. Thanks for pointing that out Mike, original post edited, but I'm not sure how to change the title.
12. A short Herring ballast train in 1975........ https://www.flickr.com/photos/23700069@N03/15191880722/in/faves-45603744@N06/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/23700069@N03/15189226921/in/faves-45603744@N06/
13. The Cambian Kits P22 GWR Herring ballast hopper is now avaliable http://cambrianmodels.co.uk/wagon_kits_4mm.html John Isherwood of Cambridge Custom Transfers does transfers for these but these may only be suitable for the early BR black livery. Has anyone built any of these yet? I'm planning on getting several to add to my Dogfish ballast wagons.
14. Yes thank you Paul I have found those on your wonderful wagon site........where would we be without it. Although work will not let me access it..........Wagon porn! What I'm really look for is some detail stuff. Found some good ones here tonight http://www.yorkareagroup.co.uk/plant-gallery/works-gallery/
15. Hi Martin, I know this post was getting on for a year ago now but I recieved one of these for Xmas and I'm looking for reference photos. I particularly like how you have arranged the hydraulic hoses, do you have any more pictures of your model you could share please.
16. You can certainly see from that picture that the fans were offset. Let's hope they get it right on the models.
17. Here is a picture from a BR Western Region magazine from the 50s which I think I posted earlier in this 68 page thread but I'll post again as it may be useful here. ">http://http://s62.photobucket.com/user/Debe2233/media/59f0c3d3.jpg.html'>
18. I was looking through Dave f's excellent picture collection and found this. The 3rd picture down on this post http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/85326-dave-fs-photos-ongoing-more-added-23rd-october/page-33 has a Gamecock workshop on the far right, I think it's the only picture I have seen of a green one.
19. I wonder if the buffers are sprung. I know unsprung buffers are not a problem if you use tension lock couplers but they will need changing if like me you use screw or 3 links.
20. Have they taken delivery of the weathered ones yet?
21. Some useful pictures of the Bluebell roadvan in early preservation on Ian Nolan's Flickr . https://www.flickr.com/photos/31890193@N08/14944172332/in/set-72157646282034419 https://www.flickr.com/photos/31890193@N08/15043871285/in/set-72157646282034419 https://www.flickr.com/photos/31890193@N08/15030131845/in/set-72157646282034419

Dapol Class 22

Hi Jack, See my post #1373 on page 55. All sorted by DCC and been ok since. Two more Westerns purchased and no problems with them so far.
24. I noticed in the pictures on here it looks as though both BR and LNER models have only the outer windows glazed with the others painted over, was this standard for these vans?
