  1. Lovely stuff, Tim. It has a very natural look. All the best, Nick.
  2. Lovely stuff, Andrew. Have a very happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. Nick.
  3. We were indeed! Now I sign Plymouth (as a guard), I regularly 'nod to Brent' as I whiz through on my 2+4 HST set... All the best, Nick.
  4. I am deeply saddened to hear of Chris' passing. At shows, we would share a couple of 'political funnies' during our conversations. Chris had a real passion for all things GWR coaching stock, and was always willing to help/assist with research projects, or general questions. He would share quite regularly with me, little golden snippets of information to do with my Horrabridge project. A real loss to both the forum and wider model railway world. RIP old chap. Enjoy a pint and a ride on a 57ft Collett up there. Nick.
  5. Looks excellent, Andrew. Keep up the good work. All the best, Nick.
  6. We do have plans for the larger GWR sheds in the near future, but need the time to sit down and do it! I have the measurements and some prototypical pictures. Like the first hut, I want to get it as accurate as possible. All the best, Nick.
  7. Now Sold Brand new and test run only, Hornby R3812 SR Terrier ‘Cowes’ No. 10 Unwanted gift. On test this locomotive runs incredibly smoothly and freely. Offered for sale at £70 including second class postage via Royal Mail (signed for). Please send a PM if you are interested. Best wishes, Nick.
  8. That does look really good, Jerry. All the best, Nick.
  9. This is such terribly sad news. Iain was a real inspiration in the hobby and someone who could capture the imagination of his audience. As many have already said, his numerous books and articles in various railway publications gave rise to many wonderful layouts and models. Iain's creative ability to design model railway plans based on prototypical maps and drawings was quite something. About 11 years ago, I commissioned him to draw Horrabridge's track plan. Iain produced two versions; the second is the version which is slowly coming together. I spent quite a lot of time with Iain discussing all sorts of modelling things with him. The loft in his home in Bridestowe housed his workshop, drawing area and Cade's Green layout, a place where I spent many an hour with him while we discussed how Horrabridge could evolve from a paper plan to a full model. I feel incredibly privileged to have known Iain, and the finescale hobby has lost one of its most influential members. Rest in peace, dear chap. Nick.
  10. I just meant 4-wheeled vans in general, Paul. With the cad drawings for chassis/w-irons/axle boxes and springs etc. drawn, it could be applied to other models, not necessarily using all of the existing tooling. I had a similar thought process with the Manor locomotive - if they are as good as they look, I would love to see further GWR steam locomotive models produced using their experience with this project on future ones. Regards, Nick.
  11. Haha. But, they could run when no one is looking… mine will! Lovely models and a great starting point for future 4-wheeled vehicles: there are so many examples that aren’t produced in kit or RTR form. Best wishes, Nick.
  12. All credit to you for it to feature at Pendon! I took that photo, along with several others, during the RMWeb day we had there about 10 years ago now. I was looking in a folder for something else and happened upon them.
  13. I love photographs like that, Mark! Thank you for sharing it. Presumably, they are all new there? (look a bit too out the box! 😂 ) Regards, Nick.
  14. Very interesting information about the deployment of Corden vehicles. On a off chance, I found this photograph I took of the bay platform and small yard at Pentor Road, Pendon's Dartmoor scene. Not sure if it is accurate, but it certainly looks nice in the yard. All the best, Nick.
  15. Dear all, I'm in the middle of building a Cambrian C10 LNER 16t steel mineral wagon (batch build post-war 1945-47). Was post-war LNER wagon grey similar to BR grey? I know that Precision manufacture LNER Freight Grey P66 - would they have been painted in this? Thanks in advance, Nick.
  16. Doesn't matter - if there are some basic measurements we can work on it. Matt cracked the corrugation very quickly (I'm not technically minded on CAD - I need to invest some more time on it). I'm the ideas man 😂
  17. I'm sure it is something we could have a look at. We have a number of things in the pipeline currently 🙂
  18. Lovely video and fantastic work on the lever frame. All the best, Nick.
  19. My kits arrived yesterday with an apologetic note. Thank you to everyone who messaged and contacted me with their experience. All the best, Nick
  20. Hi Chris, Do you have any contact details for Robert bar the ones on his website? My order is still outstanding and despite contacting him several times by phone and email have had no response. I understand fully if the chap isn’t well, but just a quick ‘I’ve got your order’ email would be helpful. Best wishes, Nick.
  21. Fantastic work, Jerry. Your shed has given me a lot of food for thought. All the best, Nick.
  22. Oh ! How did I not spot that before!? I even had the diagram book out as a reference guide! Noted for future GWR vans.
  23. My contribution to Rod and John’s project really is just rolling stock - I should add all the models on the thread so far are Finescale 00 stock for my own layout! I think it is very easy to go mad with detailing, and if that’s what you like then great, but for big projects trying to do a ‘John Haynes’ spec for each 4-wheeled wagon just isn’t practical (I should add I greatly admire and envy his work. Such a shame he passed away).
  24. Thank you, William. Very kind words. I must admit, I don’t bother with the bolts on the w-irons for stock like this. However, for some of the ‘on show’ stuff I’m building for Balcombe, I do try and get it as accurate as possible (on show means stuff left in the goods yard that probably won’t move for the duration of the exhibition). All the best,
