  1. Class 37 ETH index is really low, so is only capable of heating about 5 coaches, so of limited use with the measurement train. They were deliberately specified as a low index to prevent them being used on anything other than short provincial trains.
  2. The 17.00 to Bristol ex Padd has been 9 cars both today and yesterday, likewise the 07.00 ex Bristol yesterday was also 9 cars..
  3. The price of early Escorts seems crazy now, a friend had a book in the 90s which showed you how to create a Caterham look alike for pocket money, it advocated going to the local scrap yard and buying a MK2 escort for £15 I recall! 4. I was sat in one of the seats with no view the other day (usual 17:00 scramble for seats) Adrian and was surprised how little window there was but didn't bother me as with the recent sun it was actually helpful as I could see my laptop screen better. As the train journey is a continuation of my working day, I never bother looking out of the window and rely on station announcements and jolts from thing like Wooton Bassett junction to work out where we are.
  5. Indeed lots of them, and they were predominantly a double deck fleet in the 80's as well.
  6. Hi Ben, Is it part of the plan to do correct wheels with holes please? They are quite obvious due to the relatively open bogies. Thanks
  7. My Dad was asked to loan one of his cars to the producers of "for the love of cars" program but he couldn't make the date so a friend loaned his car. On arrival he was asked to make himself scarce and offerred a coffee so the various presenters could drive it and be filmed. When he got the car back the hood had not been put down properly so got damaged and the paintwork had been damaged by the camera mount.. Similar challenges about getting compensation out of the TV company that have been mentioned earlier, to the film company it is a prop and don't fully appreciate the effort required to restore an old car.
  8. Real tanker trailer would be 40ft so 8 cm in N gauge if that helps? That tractor unit is a lovely model.
  9. I agree with Rob, I have done loads of resprays using Railmatch aerosols. Take your time masking up and don't spray each coat too thickly. Use the HMRS prefix transfers and you will be fine and have change from £15
  10. I think it is a TA, the Engine and suspension were different to the TC and this is definitely not a TC. That said this car has a few mods, looks like it has a supercharger in addition to the Cycle wings and different rad grille
  11. As has been posted Rosencombe replicas do some stuff including a Hymac 590. Langley is also worth a look
  12. I agree about the SLW 25/3, the shame is they would have had things like the correct wheels which on the basis of the CAD drawings the Heljan one doesn't ( and before anyone pounces yes I know they can still change and it is only a CAD but is it likely..).
  13. My comment was based on the fact that it is highly likely none of the existing sleepers will be restored, most of those at Carnforth are shells and beyond restoration. I do think there is the opportunity for an "overnight experience" which could be pitched as a premium experience though: - Join train at 6pm, complete round trip of the line - Fine Dinning experience in Buffet car commencing at 7.30 ish - Round trip at 21:30 - Overnight stay on static train
  14. I don't think so, it looks to be the opposite side near the old Avon Street yard
  15. Just caught my first 9 car IET, 17.00 departure from Paddington to Bristol, I thought this is usually 2 x 5 cars so has the diagram changed or is it due to availability? 16. Looking at the state of the MK1 sleepers in preservation we might need to use a MK1 TSO to create a replica as the surviving sleepers are very rotten and have asbestos in them...
  17. Mixed news for me to be honest, in my experience Bachmann and SLW chassis are much better runners than Heljan so hope this announcement doesn't cause Bachmann to bin their plans or disuade SLW from doing a 25/3 in the future.
  18. Lovely layout, you should have fun with it. The track plan is identical to the low level of my last layout (Peafore Yard) and it was a lovely plan to shunt
  19. It looks good from the front but agree with Hiding the back third under a bridge.
  20. The first low floor spectra in service was due to be preserved but sadly caught fire in service a couple of years ago. Quite a coup at the time for ABus to get R1AJP in service first..
  21. Very impressive Richard, looks a big build.
  22. Looks a massive project, good luck to whoever takes it on. Are the mechanical all there or at least in store as all the pictures I have seen indicate there is no engine in place?
  23. Will follow this with interest as I used to live in Somerset and drove past the Radstock area a lot. Nice Series Land Rover in the back of the last picture by the way, V jealous of your garage space.
