  1. I was supposing more than plain track beyond the bridge. Agree that one box may have gone by the 60's (and some track). Ed
  2. It is 00 in as much as 00 trains can run on it. Ed
  3. They have just said on the radio that the Russians interfered in the US election to help Trump win! Ed
  4. Yes, I've noticed that-there always seems to be one missing where the lengths join each other. Ed
  5. Has anyone tried the magnetic couplings as in the new BRM DVD? They are unobtrusive, and I like the idea but it seems to me that the magnets are too strong so 1) difficult to uncouple 2) when a loco approaches a wagon on a siding the wagon will push away due to the magnets unless it is being held. I have to say I thought the review could have been much better. Ed
  6. So looking at this it appears that when you push, you are using the loops rather than the buffers? Don't the loops tend to ride over each other? Ed
  7. If we are getting pernickety about fish plates, does that mean we are cutting track into scale 60' (or what ever) lengths, or is everyone else doing this already? If so, do you bend it first and then cut it or vice versa? I have always had trouble with joints on curves with flexi to the extent that I tend to use settrack now. It is typical that Peco bring this out now, just after I have started dabbling in 0 gauge to get bullhead rail! Ed
  8. There would be another box on the other side of the bridge for sighting reasons. That would control the home signals and any further points. A project for when you finish the corner section. Except you've probably finished it by now! Cracking stuff Eds
  9. I so nearly just ticked Agree Tony. Problem is the number of times recently I have heard of the brighter kids "helping" the less able ones. This may well raise the average, but I'm not at all sure it will help the helpers. A friend of my parents was a scholarship boy at Bluecoats School. He was also a Barnado's boy, and told of the misery of his time at school due to bullying. Ed
  10. he could have been an Arab. Ed
  11. Try your local farm supplies merchant. Ed
  12. My subs copy of RM arrived yesterday and I was surprised not to find a copy of this inside. Indeed on a first quick read through I could find no mention of it. Ed
  13. Nice to see this in the new BRM. Gave an over-view which was easy to read, problem is I'm now trawling through twenty odd thousand pages looking for stuff! Ed
  14. I think that the old Top Gear was getting stale anyway. If it is down to Wilman and the 3 stooges to come up with ideas then it's no wonder they are running out of them. Ed

Have you noticed any clearance issues with the spacers gone? Ed
  16. Why the holes in the wings? Ed
  17. Andy, apply! You need to update your CV anyway. If you get called then go, sus out the job and be honest with them. Unless things have changed since I left teaching (which they may well have done) they will ask if you still wish to be considered for the job before they offer it, so keep your options open. Remember, not long ago you were a bl66dy good teacher and you still are. It is obvious to me that you are not being given the time for the management responsibilities, and you seem to have had more than your fair share to deal with in a difficult time for teaching (when wasn't?). I gather Dom has seen the news that Derby is to get trams. I wonder if he is suggesting a change of career! #Ed
  18. The problem with compasses is that you tend to end up with straight-bend-straight. Transition curves look SOO much better. On a small layout I'm not even sure that dead straight track has a place. Ed

So that's where "Gronk" comes from-GROan and cloNKed. Ed
  20. I'm sure someone will beat me to it, but 75p=15/-, so 17/6=87.5p? Ed
  21. You need an awl. Now, where did I see one.......? Ed
  22. I think that the result of crossing the prairies is those hideous 66xx things. Ed
  23. Fair point, but why 7 pages? Ed
