  1. Has the extension to EG generated much extra traffic? The couple of times I have been there I saw no evidence of passengers going directly from NR to the Bluebell. Ed
  2. Good afternoon. Was expecting an important phone call. Got another Indian (another nationalities are available) telling me I have been injured in a car accident that was not my fault. I gave a two word reply and hung up. However, it got me thinking how they hope to make money. Are they just waiting for someone to make up something to go along with them or what? Is anyone that stupid or greedy? It has to be a fairly thankless job. Best wishes Ed
  3. Morning all. I dropped some talc once. I regretted it. Best wishes Ed
  4. They seem to have a longer rear overhang, and more room for the firebox to clear the crank axle. Ed
  5. Nellie is a pretty little thing, but I'm fairly sure that as Hornby made her she couldn't work. Surely the inside motion and the firebox would collide? She couldn't drive on the front axle, so the outside cylinders and valve gear look much more realistic. Ed
  6. ...and ten US gallons is/are? less than ten Imperial ones. I would imagine that US cars of the period had tanks that would hold more. Ed
  7. ...and she insisted on pronouncing it "Memphus". Ed
  8. ...and you don't think that the Bexley drug squad monitors ERs? Good morning all Best wishes Ed
  9. Are you sure that would have had the early crest Rob? We moved to Dumfries in the summer of 1965, just up the road from Maxwelltown station on the Port Road. There was a rail-served oil depot in the goods yard. Wiki says the line closed in August, certainly I never saw passenger trains. There was still freight-long trains of vans to ICI at Cargenbridge, and what I presume now to be demolition trains. I did see one steam loco. Dad told me it was a "mogul"; I'm pretty sure it wasn't a crab, but I don't know if it was a Standard or an Ivatt class4. Ed
  10. And BL developed a transverse 6 which went into the Land Crab and the Wedge Princess. AFAIK no other models used this engine, but I think it was a development of the Maxi unit. Ed
  11. I do wonder why they put big engines into the Oxbridge when they already had the big Farinas (Austin Westminster/Wolseley 6/110 etc) which were much nicer cars and handled better. Certainly the UK Police liked them. #Ed
  12. Am I the only person not to have noticed the H class announcement? Ed
  13. They said the same about the MGB. Didn't stop them producing the RV8 with a more powerful version of the V8. Ed
  14. Well, at least you had something to read. Ed
  15. You probably wouldn't say that if you were trying to fit them to one. Ed
  16. There is a song by Beth Nielson Chapman (who I have a great deal of time for) called This Kiss (which I don't particularly like). The song was covered by Faith Hill and is, in my view, one of the best country/pop "cross-over" records ever released. Ed
  17. A J72 is no use. AFAIAA they never worked passenger trains, Now, if they did a J69 it could work passenger, but they could also do it in the glorious livery of 68619 (the famous "Liverpool Street pilot"). Ed
  18. There are quite a few DAF's in that pic. I reckon the location must be the Netherlands. Ed
  19. Pretty much anything written by Bob Dylan Ed
  20. But at least those folks short in the other parts of the anatomy should be OK. Ed
  21. Good morning all. It is so they can charge you £100+ for an item that used to be less than a tenner. Also there was a choice-plastic or wood, and none of these new-fangled square bogs. Best wishes Ed
  22. Morning all. Dom-it's being on public transport and being exposed to the er...public! Kelly-made pressies and cards mean so much more. Best wishes Ed
  23. There's got to be a few jokes in that. Ed
  24. Why did they go all the way to Laira to turn the Princess when the turntable at BZ is supposed to be working now? Ed
