  1. Oh, it will come back, it was sent via Royal Mail ... I'll get my coat
  2. Hornby have gained an extra Royal Mail - my one refused to work, so has gone back to Margate for attention ... I wonder if I will see it again before the summer? Not so malachite Glenn
  3. What sort of loco is that?, it's not green ... and it's got extra rods and levers on the outside, very odd and very untidy looking, bring me a 43XX immediately. Glenn (on the Dorset Gold, Drink!)
  4. Never mind the 'U' Pullmans, he said the 'U' word - it's comfy cushions time for you young man!
  5. I am tempted to do 21C5 Canadian Pacific and I see from a photograph that this definitely had the Gilt numerals; with a big 'C' and SOUTHERN lettering. I don't think I've seen a photo of 21C4, but would assume it had the same? The HMRS transfer sheet covers all of the permutations I think.
  6. I notice that 'SOUTHERN' and possibly '21C3' has a slight lean to it, particularly noticeable in the enlarged photos. My 21C3 (yes, I cracked and bought one!) has this as well. It's a minor thing though and barely noticeable on an otherwise splendid model. Glenn
  7. Yes, there is a photo of 21C5 in 'The Book of the MNs' showing her in the same condition as 21C3 ... although I think it was malachite for a very short period before wartime black prevailed. Glenn
  8. One of my customers/victims used to insist on saying 'Bully-id', I think I showed him the quotation from 'HAV' to put him right. I cracked ... 21C3 ordered this afternoon, I will be enhancing the model with black paint and Fox additions at a later date. Glenn ... it is done, the malachite monster is ordered!
  9. Bulleid rhymes with succeed, Maunsell rhymes with cancel - H.A.V Bulleid, he ought to know!
  10. 21C3 looks much better with the Fox etched plates and roundel. One improvement that can be made to these models is to paint those wheel tyres and the buffers black! - how come Bachmann can do it, but Hornby can't ... ... I'm starting to warm towards Royal Mail now, damn ... "I don't want one, I don't want one ..." Glenn
  11. No, no, that is eminently sensible, everyone should have a P2. Glenn
  12. Without a doubt the West Country/Battle of Britain pacifics were the neater looking of the two Bulleid pacific designs and here in its original form the MN doesn't look too pretty. I thought I might fancy 21C3, but no I shall wait for one of the 21C11-20 series to appear, when the design had been tidied-up somewhat. Glenn
  13. Sound advice, I will continue to avoid building any layout ever as it is clearly far too complicated and could drive a man to drink ... now there's a thought! Glenn
  14. I love the fact that the LMS produced fully streamlined Duchess class locos (and some of the non-streamlined versions) during WW2 and no-one seemingly bats an eyelid. The SR builds ten 6'2" pacifics and have to cover it up saying they are 'mixed traffic' locos. Glenn
  15. That can't be a Pannier tank, (don't look Emily) it's got it's valve gear on the outside !!! - what filthy disgustingness, very un-Edwardian and not at all Great Western-like. I will inform the authorities immediately. Officer!, Officer! Beer and modelling don't mix. Bye, bye modelling!
  16. Yes, 'beauty' is definitely not a word that springs to mind when looking at one of the Class 66 oil engines. Even a lick of green paint doesn't alter its aesthetic .. although the door bell is somewhat fetching! Give me steam. P Gabriel
  17. Looks good to me ... and now you know what to do and how to do it, maybe you should list one (or two!) on a well known internet auction site - it should prove very popular. Glenn
  18. Yep, that's about it. The pipe bending on the other side is 'fun', but I'm sure you'll get there. Well done Sir!
  19. The streamlining is very 1930's Art Deco, you can definitely see the LMS streamlined pacifics at the front end and the cab windows have a French influence - interesting!
