  1. Hi again Rich I was approached after I got the pic of the week spot a few months ago. I have been looking for a follow up project for Glenuig for the last few months, so I thought I would take the opportunity of some spare time over Xmas to finish the slate quarry, at least this one's portable. Over Haddon, well I would love to it into a state were I could show it, but its big and there's only me, and perhaps some press ganged mates to leaver it out of the loft and out the front door. I am in two minds, whether to carry on with the portable option for Over Haddon, or leave it has a fixed layout and start something fresh. I have dabbled with so much in the past, and I am reluctant to have ago at something else, I even have some 7mm gauge stuff around, don't get excited its 1930's LMS ex midland Now that 37043 you have looks rather tempting. Wheres the sketch book and tape measure!! I’d better have a beer. Gary
  2. Hi Rich I was quite stunned when I noticed Glenuig had made it back on the first page, its now been 2 months or more since the last entry. Snow has not effected, the glen, more like sawdust. Glenuig lives in my cellar workshop, and I have been doing some work down there to do with home improvements, so the layout has been packed away. I have been working on a smaller layout that can be packed away in seconds... http://www.rmweb.co....20-welsh-slate/ And when it has been warm enough, I have had a play with Over Haddon http://www.rmweb.co....36-over-haddon/ Now back to Glenuig On November the first, we were blessed with a visit from Chris Nevard, who left with a memory card full of stunning photos. These should feature in the February (no153) addition of Model rail, so watch out for it. Mean while Glenuig is booked for a few appearances 9-10/04/2011 Stoubridge, navigation trust, model railway exhibition, at the bonded warehouse. Glenuig,s first show, and my home town gig. 2/07/2011 something to do with Rmweb! 27-28/08/2011 Railex NE http://www.btmrs.co....ition-2011.html Look forward to meeting any Rmwebers at these events Gary

I'd rather gargle battery acid and shave with typhoid mary's straight razor than watch that pile of guano

Trying my best to catch up, much to my other half's discussed, good night

  12. I am just going outside and may be some time

  13. I got to the show and got to see Hursley for an all too short period. I don't think the layout was just the “pinnacle†of railway modelling, I think the whole show was. After the event, I think there was a period were the quality of exhibition layouts fell, I am glad to say that they have now recovered. Perhaps it was that after the event, some of the modellers involved, turned to writing, rather than produce models. I think the hobby is ready for a “showcase exhibition†and it would be interesting to see what layouts Rmweb'ers would like to invite. Gary
  14. I think I’ve got a problem, I keep looking at US logging layouts

  17. against all odds it looks like I shall get to the NEC tomorrow, see you all at one, I will be displaying a Skye brewery shirt and beer belly.

  18. Bad luck with the weather, I have been up that way three times this year. The first visit was to Inverarey, in February, and the weather was stunning, freezing with blue sky's. The second was in May, to the outer hebs, Uist, the weather was good again. The Third to Skye was basically a storm force 6 all week, but fantastic for photos. So all I can say, is look forward to February 2011, and if the weathers bad, there’s always the bar of the Clachaig inn, or Kings to shelter inn. If you do get to Glenuig, turn down past the inn, and you will eventual come to an inlet with a View of Rum in the distance start looking for the station there. Gary
  19. Hi Welcome back to the land of living!, what you need is a break from it all. Can I prescribe a fact finding trip north of the border, with plenty of the local area's liquid produce, works every time for me. Gary
  20. Had a change tonight, modelling 7/4ths of my normal scale, but 1.7mm smaller gauge?

  21. Hi I seam to remember answering this one on another thread some time ago. I actually use Sprat and winkle couplers, these only require a bar across the buffers on locos. The prototype 37s, snow ploughs are hung on brackets from under the body, the centre one is hung from the buffer beam. I can't see how you could use the pockets on the bogie and fix the ploughs to the body, so have you considered mounting them on the bogie, and missing the centre one off. I did have one or two Lima one's done this way and they worked ok. Gary
  22. Worrying, my other half just said “pass us the Model Rail mag..........That’s a nice bit of weathering.”
