  1. I had this square ready for a future post - Thurmaston in Leicester.
  2. Next; The lack of public rights-of-way and the road layout may lead you to think this is in Scotland, but it's not. The Scots did get here in 1745 though.
  3. Next; is it a finescale railway this week?
  4. My OS map is slightly different to the OP's but it seems to be the same place
  5. Blimey, testing of the AL5 electrics on the Liverpool route happened a lot earlier than I'd previously been led to believe..........
  6. Looks like an interesting place, probably too far away for me though. Shame - but thanks anyway. Graham
  7. Hello everyone, good thread this. I spent a few days in South Moravia last year (on a Bridge playing holiday) and on my one free day I took a bus from the village I was staying in to Breclav, and from there caught a train to Vienna. I didn't have spare time in Breclav to explore or take photos but I did note that there was interesting infrastructure and trains to look at (there were a couple of ancient diesels and a railcar parked up). I'm hoping to return later this year and I should have more free time, so I'd like to explore a bit more. I've already decided that I can do day trips to Brno and Bratislava from my base but I'm otherwise unfamiliar with the local railways so are there any other good lines in the area? I can't get to Breclav station before 10.00am so I'm a bit limited as to how far I can travel (Prague is too far for a day trip). Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards Graham
  8. Out east in the sticks between Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
  9. Not had a duck for a while. Anyone have one for dinner today? This is not an Aylesbury duck.
  10. Arram, oop north of Beverley.
  11. Next, The Fab Four? But the other three would be Stephen, Graham and Neil.
  12. Ludgershall in Bucks. The MSWJR Ludgershall is in Wilts.
  13. The fact that the Beeching report was issued in 1962 does not mean that closures necessarily followed soon afterwards. For instance, the passenger service on my local line (Coventry-Nuneaton) was a Beeching victim, but lasted to early 1965 before closure. Graham
  14. Clue; Not under Network Rail jurisdiction.
  15. Next; The station is a terminus.
  16. There is no text in the square on the OS map I use either. It's Hilton Junction, south of Perth. It seems a bit odd, but there are also a couple of nearby villages without names on the OS map.
  17. In which case the 85 must be a pre-production job as Bachmann haven't released the SYP version yet.
  18. Clue, the knitting was installed in 1959.
  19. Next, A photo of the station........ ....and the level crossing
  20. After many years of holidays in the Highlands, I think I can recognise Ben Wyvis even when it is cloud covered. The square is Muir of Ord.
  21. Another soap, this one is still running and very popular but is not filmed here.
