  1. What about Berkhamsted, LInslade (Leighton Buzzard) and Atherstone for starters? Presuming that tilt doesn't come in-to play at Stafford. And the new layout at Rugby still limits conventional trains to 100mph whilst the Pendolino's (and Voyagers?) are cleared for the full 125mph.
  2. But (as Stove Pipe mentioned in post 440) did 87035 even have a white battery box? And in its named condition, A few photos might be useful to clear this matter up.
  3. From todays (Friday 16.06.17) Engine Shed That maybe so, but I'm still not convinced that this covers anything other than an extremely limited/specific time frame.
  4. May 1984. At the same time as the repainting of 87006/87012 + the first Mk3a FO. (The original 1974 five hour Royal Scot 100mph headline timing started to slip from around 1978 or 79.) Though I believe the fastest time under the sectorisation era was briefly close to the 4 hours 45 min mark(?) - some one may be able to confirm this. The best time under Virgin was 4 hours 54 min. Until the post Hatfield speed restrictions intervened and a sub five hour timing was never fully restored until the advent of the Pendolino's in 2004. But noting the below post which very much highlights the increasing gulf between the fastest (headline) and average journey times as the years progressed.
  5. Hopefully. Though you would have thought we would haves seen some CADs by now. Or a 'stereo' model a-la the Hornby 87.
  6. Thank you Did anybody manage to talk to Bachmann about this at DEMU Showcase?
  7. I put a 'like' on the post, particularly in relation to the bold red highlighted text. Meanwhile back on the pantograph issue has anybody mentioned the one (albeit to HO scale) on the Lima Class 92. How does this square up in the proceedings?
  8. One thing which I'm not sure got mentioned on the many pages of the Mk2e coach thread was the very over pronounced (and unprototypical) bow to the Hornby Mk2e coach bodies. Looked at many photos and videos since and cannot see any evidence of this on the real thing. I had bought three Virgin TSO's thinking that the Virgin livery hid the worst of the other flaws discussed. (To replace the Virgin 'Mk2d' TSO's I had,) When I noticed this unsightly bow (along with a lack of any accompanying Virgin Mk2e FO's) I decided to put them 'in to store' pending disposal. And keep the Mk2d's in anticipation of a future release of the Bachmann Mk2f's in Virgin livery (as well as Blue/Grey). Will be interested in other peoples opinions regarding this bow. A good feature of the Mk2d's which is more than worthy of mention are the roof weld seams which Airfix got down to a tee all those years ago.
  9. Wait for a Limited Edition/Retailer Commission of 87001 in its very original (as delivered) state, This could be produced in 2023 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the class.............................
  10. Can you please remind me of the contact details for Paul Isles. Many thanks. The white battery box being akin to the 'Custard Dip' on the Diesel Pullman unit by the 'other manufacturer'. Strictly speaking accurate but only for a very specific limited time frame.
  11. Kiwirail de-electrification decision questioned - https://www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2017/05/16/kiwirail-de-electrification-decision-questioned/
  12. Part of the under frame on (the Blue) 87035 is coloured white. Can I assume this is an error/oversight on the image?
  13. FYI - Alstom launches Clever cantilever for UK railway electrification - 12th May 2017 http://www.railengineer.uk/2017/05/12/alstom-launch-clever-cantilever-for-uk-railway-electrification/
  14. Because it is nice to look at. (And helps to tempt the wallet....................)
  15. Meanwhile (slightly off topic but related). Barking to Gospel Oak rail upgrade work could go on until end of year - http://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/barking-to-gospel-oak-rail-upgrade-work-could-go-on-for-another-year-a3533036.html

  17. Though interesting to see that you stuck with Barclays for the 'Boris Bikes' rather than Satander(!)
  18. The Class 86/4 (86426) in the late eighties as part of the Inter City 21st birthday celebrations/events. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3742/10553324514_9df1bbd3d0.jpg Although 86233 had a more authentic and accurate paint job.
  19. But presumably not (now) connected with the electrification works?
  20. FYI - FIRST STORY IN BULLETIN - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08k5gkf/south-today-lunchtime-news-30032017 (Expires tonight 10:45pm) Don't know if the item has been mentioned/discussed on this thread yet?
  21. Indeed(!) And London Reconnections is indeed how I found out about it............... hence I'm more than well aware about Windmill Bridge Junction. Though noting the below in the main body of the article-:
  22. Like the silly (belated) idea to run a Luton to Faversham service via Greenwich calling at every wayside halt en route. Is this still on the cards or has common sense prevailed yet?
  23. Refer to the first sentence of my answer in post 306.
  24. Another possibility for a retailer commission - Now if Oxford were to do some Pretendolino Mk3a's (albeit with a production compromise regarding the RFM variant). Will just have to hang on-to the Hornby DVT.
