  1. But don't forget about the (West Midlands Trains) London North Western Railway strike. Apparently (according to another forum) a lot of the evening trains last Saturday (even as per the special timetable) to Northampton from both Euston and Birmingham were cancelled leaving passengers stranded.
  2. I noticed the Virgin 87 on display in Hamleys on Saturday also had the pantograph half hanging off. It would seem that it is rather difficult to remove the polystyrene (transit) packing piece without dislodging or damaging the pivot fixing.

  4. I believe that there is a Shoeburyness show this year - http://www.shoeburynessmrc.co.uk/annual-exhibition.html - Saturday/Sunday16/17.11.19
  5. As far as I can see there does not yet appear to be a thread for this years exhibition being held tomorrow and Sunday - http://www.hamptoncourtmrs.co.uk/showtrain/showtrain%202019.html The special bus service to the exhibition from Surbiton Station leaves here (bus stop NN).

  7. Without re-reading through all the subsequent posts does anybody know if Hornby will be producing any spare B/W pantographs? Unfortunately my Virgin one came off and it looks as if the very delicate plastic fixing to the base has partially broken. Whilst the pantograph could be glued in position it will then not be capable of being raised. I am loathe to take it back to the retailer (for time and effort reasons alone) when the model is otherwise fine. Hoping to ask Hornby at Warley but would be grateful for any heads up.
  8. Received a refund thank you. However my local model shop cannot order a replacement as they have been advised that the (Freightliner) Class 90 is now out of stock at Bachmann. (May now take a trip to Guilford.) They were also told by (yesterday) that Bachmann were not aware of any issues (?). I don't know if this would have been the head office or the regional rep. Also noting that my local model shop were unfortunately totally unaware of RMWeb which made it rather difficult for me to explain that there is circumstantial evidence that a design/production issue exists with a number of the models.
  9. Only realised on Sunday night that my Freightliner one is similarly affected. (Inter City seems o.k. so far). Hate to have to burden my local model shop (the only one in Zone 1) with the return but apart from any other considerations Bachmann need to know the full extent of the problem.
  10. Good to see the buffers are now corrected from the pre production samples. But still pondering about the 'pastel' blue on 86259. Doesn't seem to be either electric or early (chromatic) rail blue - noting that I have read all the discussion about this subject area on various other threads.

  12. Interestingly on the Class 50 'Vac Attack' (Locomaster Profiles - Wired for Sound) DVD two GNER Class 91/Mk4 formations are passed in relatively quick succession. One in the Eglington Street tunnel and the second before the junctions at Newton.
  13. The existing Hornby Mk4's are o.k.ish and are indeed of scale length/correct overall dimensions but are hardly the best. For example lack of flush glazing, no bespoke interior for the catering vehicle and translucent roofs on the East Coast Trains 'Flying Scotsman' variants. There is also the matter of the 'Mallard' refurbishment which resulted in some significant internal and external alterations particularly to the catering vehicle.

  15. Couldn't get back to town quickly enough for a Pret Latte at Canary Wharf(!) Thankfully my step father (from St.Albans) in the end decided in the end not to attend. His sense of direction is pretty poor at the best of times (and would have ended up by default at the car park over the railway line despite me copying and pasting him the earlier posts about this).
  16. Virgin 90 and Mk2fs please in what presumably will be 'another year of consolidation'.
