  1. Almost but not quite? I believe (from memory) that the Mk2f's and the very first Mk3a's had a more turquoise shade of blue with more distinct light brown horizontal bands. This revised version appeared as the Mk3a build proceeded and the first HST trailers entered service.
  2. Apparently (according to the Nigel Harris Mk2 book) three the TSO's originally selected for the Gatwick Express conversion had the earlier (winged) seats which caused a problem. They therefore had to be refitted with the Inter City 70 seats (though with a reduction in the seating capacity from 64 to 56 to make way for the extra luggage racks there may have been enough spare seats anyway).
  3. Not forgetting C2C (LTS) and London Overground.
  4. Just the Virgin 87 for me (as well as the Blue one). Having already got my Virgin Mk3b DVT's from last time round. Though the Fifteen Guinea Special might be a nice little extra (even though not quite my era).
  5. Trusting that the Virgin 87 will have the roof mounted fire suppression tanks.
  6. Will the Virgin Mk3 (loco hauled) catering vehicle be the 3 window RUB (as illustrated but inaccurate for the period) or the more appropriate (albeit ex LIma) 4 window RFM? Surely Hornby's researchers must have checked this one out. It will also now be interesting so see if and when we get the more authentic Oxford Rail Mk3a/3b's in Virgin Livery. EDIT Just read post 231.

  21. Some of the people in my office received a voucher for a free coffee at Pumpkins (along with an 'apology' letter for the delays from South Western Railway) when they arrived at London Waterloo this morning. I do hope they enjoy their coffee.
