  1. Nice shot Alex. I remember that tunnel before lighting was fitted. There's a slight curve in the middle. Living in Woolwell, North Plymouth at the time I could cycle up to the Skylark at Clearbrook. The tunnel was always fun on a dark winter's night. Before the tarmac surface came the route was a mixture of tree stumps and an un-even muddy surface. Cheers, Mark
  2. I picked my Wickham trolley up from Skipton this lunch time. What a great experience! I really can't thank Ami, Hannah and Neil enough (As well as all the canine members of the team!). I think I met Chris as well! The actual Wickham trolley is a beautifully made and presented model. I also ordered the Wickham trolley double hut plywood laser/multi media kit. This is also wonderfully presented and has a real quality feel about it. I also managed to pick up an Intentio LNER/BR Platelayers Hut kit in the process. I was made to feel really welcome and and must say I was very impressed all round. This is my first dip into O Gauge with the Wickham trolley and I am certainly converted. Cheers, Mark
  3. Evening Tony, I thought I would share this 30 year old Cambrian SR brake van kit which has just received its third remake. It was purchased from Martin Welch when he owned his Blue Peter Model Railway shop on Wilton Street in Millbridge, Plymouth I believe. I built it in my room at Freedom Fields Nurses Home, Plymouth in 1993 in my first year of training. It was hand painted. About 12 years ago when I acquired an airbrush it was refinished and weathered as you see now. It had been on loan to a good friend since then. He gave it back to me yesterday as it was surplus to requirements. As a small project this afternoon I fitted a new metal tubed chimney with plastic base and Lanarkshire Model Supplies buffers. A coat of Valejo German Grey acrylic was brush applied to the new fittings to blend things in after a coat of Halfords grey primer was applied to them. Here's a snap of the remake and for a 30 year old build I do think it holds its own. Just! A model with provenance. Cheers, Mark
  4. Hi Steve, There's two small crosshead screws underneath which separate the chassis from the body. The chassis has some weight on it by the way. Hope that helps Cheers, Mark
  5. Here's my three Palbricks refinished. I used Tamiya NATO Brown airbrushed over Halfords grey primer. A coat of Halfords satin lacquer was then applied ready from the excellent Cambridge Custom Transfers decals by John Isherwood of this parish. The transfer sets are ready made up and just need carefully cutting out from their sheet with a sharp scalpel. Johnson's Kleer floor polish helped to set them in position. Once dry a further coat of Halfords rattle can lacquer helped to seal them. They are now ready for weathering.. Excellent service from John as always. The Cambrian Shark ballast brake van just in shot also has Cambridge Custom Transfers applied in the same manner. Cheers, Mark
  6. Back safely in the West Riding. It was a great gathering with brilliant layouts and good to catch up with with so many folks. Thanks to Rob and everyone else for making this possible. Great news of the announcement for 2024's. Cheers, Mark The pasties were much appreciated and thanks to CK for arranging the supply of them and the crack catering team for their endeavours.
  7. Thanks for posting these videos Tim. Much appreciated and always good to see Bethesda Sidings in action. Hope we see you in fine fettle soon and out exhibiting. Cheers, Mark
  8. Would anyone have a Mike's Models OO Scale Scotch Derrick Crane kit they would like to sell? If so please PM me. Thanks in advance. Mark
  9. With a view to repainting the trio I've just separated the body from the chassis. Two small screws is all it takes. The chassis is nicely cast in metal so has some weight about it. It may be useful for other wagon diagrams as well no doubt. John from Cambridge Custom Transfers notified me to say he was printing the transfer order today so hopefully the Palbricks should be refinished soon. Cheers, Mark
  10. Mine arrived today as well via an email from the Post Office saying they would be making a delivery from 'Multi Channel Logistics'. Like others have said the packaging is interesting but my set arrived safely with no bowing evident. The build quality and weight are certainly impressive. The grey vacuum cylinders are a bit funky. I have painted these in this evening along with the buffer shanks with Valejo black acrylic. The wheels have been inked in with a black Sharpie. These small improvements certainly make a difference. Looking at Rowlands wagon books it looks as if the lettering is not in the correct position. I will repaint mine. I have ordered a set of Cambridge Custom Transfers BL56 to refinish this trio. Overall I am impressed with this set. The build quality is excellent perhaps let down with the presentation and livery application. Very promising though from KR Models. Cheers, Mark
  11. Still for sale and reduced in price! Cheers, Mark
  12. Hi, Is this LT Brake Van still for sale? If it is I would like to buy it. Cheers, Mark
  13. Thanks Michael. Yes. I had seen that one. Like you say a bit on the high side price wise. Thanks for posting the link. Mark
  14. Having built the 'Badger Ales' and 'BOCM' kits would anyone have the Eldridge Pope 'Huntsman Ales' kit for sale? Ideally unbuilt but I would consider a damaged repairable model. Please PM me if you have a kit for sale. Cheers, Mark
  15. I ordered both of these books published by Key Publishing from Kernow Model Rail over the weekend and they arrived safely today. https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/68539/Book---Britains-Railways-Series-3---Cornish-Railways-Saltash https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/68958/Book---Britains-Railways-Series-6---Cornish-Railways They have been published so as to break the photographic journey at St. Austell coming in a two book format. Having been off today I have had a good chance to start flicking through them. I realise these books by author Craig Munday were published a number of years ago and have been on my want list for a while. If you are interested in Cornish railways from the 1980's to more recent times these books are well worth a read. Not only from a railway perspective but from an historical viewpoint as well. Craig is also keen to highlight the train or infrastructure in the landscape through his photography. With Cornwall as a backdrop this certainly brings about some spectacular images. From a personal viewpoint I have been fortunate to meet Craig on a number of occasions during my Cornish railway photographing days. He even showed me around his office in Par! He used to post on RMweb as well with updates on his Cornish OO layout as well as his photographic updates on contemporary Cornwall railways. Both of these books have brought back some great memories and are well worth purchasing if Cornwall and it's recent railway history floats your boat. Cheers, Mark No connection. Just a happy customer!
  16. Thanks again Chris, Probably keeping things very simple and smoke and mirrors...😉 Next layout will use a 190cm x 26cm for a bit more space. Coming soon in OO Scale... Cheers, Mark
  17. Here you go Robin....😉 Lacktastic....👍 https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/lack-wall-shelf-white-90282180/ Various sizes available... Cheers, Mark 😉
  18. Thanks Chris... 😉 Andy and the Macclesfield Model Railway Club members organised a brilliant exhibition which was well attended. Stoke Doyle Goods was well received. It performed faultlessly throughout the two days unlike the operator...😄 Got back safely to the West Riding after a brilliant weekend. I think those two drivers have been influenced by Kraftwerk in their joint poses...😉 Cheers, Mark
  19. Arrived home safely to the West Riding after a brilliant weekend exhibiting Stoke Doyle Goods at the show. Thanks to Andy and the Macclesfield Club for organising a great exhibition and a warm welcome. Cheers, Mark
  20. Stoke Doyle Goods will be appearing at this forthcoming weekend's Macclesfield Exhibition. I have been doing a few preliminary checks ensuring everything is in order ready for the trip south. Bit of test running this evening. I have been using some Welsh influences not normally seen in East Northamptonshire..😉 It will be good to meet up with some new and old faces over the weekend. Cheers, Mark
  21. Looking forwards to next weekend. Stoke Doyle Goods will be in attendance representing a quiet corner of East Northamptonshire as part of the 009 contingent. Cheers, Mark
  22. Heads up that Derails have announced two Forest of Dean related 7 Plank private owner wagons in today's Rapido announcement. Cannop Colliery: https://derails.co.uk/cannop Dean Forest Coal Co: https://derails.co.uk/dean-forest-coal Limited to 200 pieces on each wagon. No relationship. Just a happy customer with an interest in the railways of the Forest of Dean. Great news for Forest modellers. Both have been pre-ordered. We just need some decent Berry Wiggins bitumen tank wagons now. Cheers, Mark
  23. The Bedford-Northampton line had an interesting history with links to the Stratford upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway at Ravenstone Wood Junction. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olney_railway_station_(England) Photographs I have of the line in the later years show Bedford allocated Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2's and their Standard Class 2MT 84xxx 2-6-2 cousins. Later on the Park Royal railcars were trialed before closure. Cheers, Mark
