  1. Re-released - R3557 LMS Royal Scot class 4-6-0 = £134.99 Re-released - R3517 LMS Royal Scot class 4-6-0 = £199.99 I wonder what extra small parts are fitted for one to cost £65 more. The new tooling Princess Coronation must not be as well detailed as it is only costing £189.99
  2. Because I have been using Peco code 100 track only insulfrog slips are available to me. Being disappointed in their performance I have recently taken them up and installed new V rails, but as you point out the wing rails are still dead. Not trusting my soldering skills enough to have a go at bonding them I was going to try conductive painting between the V and the wing rails.
  3. There has been a price increase since last week, possibly someone will blame it on Brexit.
  4. Another one is " a well known box shifter in the North West* "... nine words when only one is needed. Do these posters think they are putting some mystique into their composition? * used to be Liverpool until they moved to Widnes.
  5. The 72 page MreMag pdf seems large at 92mb compared to the last Modelling Inspirations pdf of 25.5mb and had 71 pages. Can the download be made smaller? Edit. Just looking at Modelling Inspirations 3 which is 80 pages and only 18.4mb. What determines their size?
  6. The engineer I spoke of earlier was not allowed to use any of the toilets in the admin building we maintained which was mainly female staff, only the one provided in the maintenance block. There being no other female staff in the maintenance crew.
  7. I remember back in the early '80s one of the engineers that worked for the company I was with went off for a few weeks and we were told that he was coming back as a woman. To me, he was still the same bloke I knew but now wearing women's clothes.
  8. A word often misused on here is "brought" instead of "bought". I don't think it is a misspelling, the users actually think "brought" is the correct word for having purchased something.
  9. Does this advertising work for them though? I never looked at the adverts although I can remember one, the Hattons one, most probably because I already know of them. I am sure most of the readers know of the other advertisers already too. To advertise in all the forms of media now available must cost businesses a fortune, I suppose some of it must work or they wouldn’t do it, but I don’t think I have bought anything I didn’t know I wanted/needed just because it popped up on an advert,(unless it has worked in a subliminal way). Anything railway related I want I just look on Hattons website, if they don't have it I will then google it. New or upcoming items are announced on forums so I wouldn't miss anything. Same goes for other advertising. If I need a shirt or pair of shoes I just go to town and look in the clothes/shoe shops. If I need food I just go to the supermarket/butchers/greengrocers etc. I don’t need an advert to tell me about Cornflakes and where to get them. If there was something I found I needed/wanted and didn’t know where to get it, I would just ask on a forum or google it. Has anyone bought anything they didn’t know they wanted or weren’t looking for just because it popped up in online/magazine/tv/radio adverts? Nuisance adverts would stop me buying from that business. All the junk mail I get goes straight in the bin without being looked at. Google is your friend.
  10. As much as I love Etta James, Beth Hart and others mentioned I think they over egg "I'd Rather Go Blind". I prefer the Christine Perfect/Chicken Shack version.
  11. Take it to the limit - Etta James Live at San Francisco (The Eagles)
  12. I am sure Hattons will be glad to take them back and refund the £199.00. They can then sell them on for more as like this one http://www.hattons.co.uk/224279/Heljan_266210_SAS_Beyer_Garratt_2_6_0_0_6_2_47971_BR_Lion_on_wheel_emblems_on_cabsides_block_styl/StockDetail.aspx "sold as seen - handrail on engine loose - front buffers missing - inconsistent runner, difficulty over points" for £230.00.
  13. I have 3 Duchess locos that were like that, the driving wheels too. After re-gauging them I had to put plasticard overlays on the chassis to take up the slop. Good runners now though.
  14. I wonder, did they ever receive any spares from Heljan? http://www.hattons.co.uk/garrattspares
  15. Yes, the brickpaper had been printed a while before I used it. I think I sprayed it after sticking it to the wood. So long ago now. Also wondering if it was some reaction with the adhesive, a glue stick, and the wood, mdf, but why not all over.
  16. I did spray the brickpaper after it was printed with a cheap hair lacquer but it didn't stop this happening. Not sure of the cause, it was in a dry shed with no windows.
