  1. 111/112 “more yellow” livery Mick? I wouldn’t have thought it would be enough yellow for you? I’d like to see a WHL layout to your standards. Most I’ve seen are based around the stations but I think something based on part of horseshoe curve with steep and dramatic landscape around the track would be special albeit limited operationally.
  2. The MRD sale seemed to have rather large quantity of each item… makes me wonder whether Bachmann offloaded them cheap to MRD to sell heavily discounted? I don’t know how large an outfit MRD are but to have 10s of slow selling 37s in their stock would have been a big misjudgment of demand. Me thinks this was a warehouse clearance. There have been implied similar instances before and I can’t help but wonder whether we may see the same on 47s soon?
  3. Are you sure? I don’t recall seeing that anywhere. Re-runs are pretty rare from Bachmann and as others have said these models seem to have been slow sellers.
  4. The EPS 37/6 is a variant never to appear before… yes they never really saw their intended use but ran around the network a bit in this state including up the West Highland Line on hire to Freightliner!!
  5. Both the recent 37s are lovely models overall - both have their pluses and minuses. Sadly too much on market at once I fear resulting in these prices. I do have a bunch already but these prices have given opportunities to stock up on some additional for renumbering projects.
  6. The sleeper spacing on the real thing varies quite considerably even in straight track with track speed / expected load driving the spacing I believe. I can’t comment on whether spacing varies between straight and turnouts on same section but logically I can’t see why it should always be the same as loads and speed through a turnout will be different. Then you have the argument that OO track is too narrow anyway and that the correct sleeper spacing looks wrong so have to adjust to make look proportionally correct… I’m not sure I’d want to be a model track maker… over time I think I can recall people commenting that dimensions are wrong in pretty much every product including finescale options! edit: ok I totally misread your point - sorry! You’re talking about the dimensions of the sleeper themselves. From looking at the real thing I would say these do differ - the sleepers on turnouts are obviously longer and I would say they do look different in section but in what way not sure. My memory of one’s I’ve looked at is that the section is squarer than regular track but this may not be universally true. Note to self - read Q properly before engage keyboard!
  7. Wonder if they can be persuaded to do some gantry colour light signals… seems a gap in the market?
  8. Very nice… I placed an order for some of your other goodies last night but will be adding these when they’re ready. I have to keep buying more warflats and warwells for them to go on…. It almost seems like a cunning plan on your part?
  9. Mine arrived too. Agree with others views on these being nicely made - nice thin sides, lovely under frame and detailing and nicely painted and printed. My only slight surprise / disappointment was that my wagons with replaced woodwork are printed exactly the same on each side - i.e. the exact same planks have been replaced on each side diagonally opposite each other. I’m guessing that printing different variations on each side would have cost more? It’s a small thing though as I can’t think of any layout configuration where you see both sides of a wagon at the same time… M
  10. My first impression was that the front end looks like steel plate with cutout windows as per real thing - not something all other models achieve. Probably the combo of flush glazing and sharp moulding of body. Nice. Do I need one ? No. Will I buy one? Err….
  11. Derails - newsletter specials. They had some 37s at these prices but gone already - last I looked still had BR blue, large logo, Scotrail, freight liner and DRS at these prices although not all versions available now as stocks starting to dwindle
  12. Or it might be that the previous batch are hanging around. Prices as low as £149 / £199 / £249 for DC/SF/SFX versions at moment at one retailer and quite a few others showing heavy discounts. It is a lovely loco but the old one just wasn’t that bad to make me embark on whole scale changeout…
  13. As far as i know there isn’t much difference between a 37/0 and 37/3. The 37/0 is as delivered whilst 37/4 upwards were refurbished and alternator fitted so a bit different. If I recall correctly some of the refurbs had regeared bogies as well. The 37/3 as a subclass was basically 37/0s that ended up with regeared bogies but none of the other features of a refurbished 37 - with no external differences that I’m aware of. I believe the 37/3s came about during late 80s around same time as the refurb program was going. Your model of 37305 has bufferbeam cowling still intact which makes me believe it is earlier than that as most 37s had the cowling removed by mid 80s. There was 309 class 37s built so theoretically some would have been in 373xx as 37/0s before subclasses started to appear - I think what you have is a later series 37/0 rather than a 37/3. The other factors may relate to that - did later builds have brighter lighting etc?
  14. I think you’re right with no1 but not 100% sure. Item 2 I believe is for the holes where the centre plough is if you don’t install the central plough. 3 I suspect is a lifeguard but prob best left off with the ploughs installed. 4 I have no idea.
  15. Yes - some posts a few pages back with details. Both types fit
  16. Can see the 2 types in this photo a little better https://www.hattons.co.uk/directory/versiondetails/article?id=498
  17. Anyone waiting on details on SLWs website to order the original body 25 - it’s up there now. Order duly placed :-)
  18. Intriguing …. Wish I could but not on my doorstep - will watch this space!!
  19. I might be wrong but I seem to recall a story that the 37 was painted in washable paint just for the filming but that after they were done the paint wouldn’t wash off. May be an urban myth but sure I’ve heard it somewhere!
  20. On the 56/60 it wasn’t necessary to remove anything other than body shell - the place to target was where the cardan shaft enters the bogie gear tower and then same bearing point on the other side of same gear tower. Just a tiny drop did it for me. Hth
  21. I’ve not had the issue with an HST as yet but several of my Hornby diesels started howling a while back. Cause seemed to be gear tower drying out and a spot of lube oil on the bearing end at the top of the gear tower seemed to solve it. This has afflicted most of my Hornby 56s and 60s but once oiled the problem never returned. Only tiniest spot needed where cardan shaft goes into gear tower and same on opposite side. Hth
  22. Great to see - I may have bought a few AS 37s…. and for sure my DRS ones will be double heading in various services. Has anyone tried double heading with Kadee couplers? Most of my stock is Kadee fitted making this my normal preference but I’ve found other manufacturers products often don’t behave with Kadees between the locos when double heading, requiring a more solid bar-type coupler. I ask because I would prefer to be able to run each separately too and if I go down route of bar couplers that more or less locks them into only double heading… any experiences?
  23. I have this problem with my Bachmann IPAs - half loaded (top deck only) and they are heavy - not helped by not being particularly free rolling to start with. Recommendations For 3d printed cars? I am keen given I now have quite a few car wagons across the eras…
  24. We had a courier deliver a mirror to our house. When he opened the doors to his van on a slope and about 20 boxes fell out (including our mirror), he then hurled them back into the van whilst cussing and then carried our mirror across. On shaking the box and hearing broken glass I suggested it might be damaged. He got very aggressive at that point saying no way was it damaged and if it was it was nothing to do with him… To be fair contrast this with the courier who delivered my 8 yr olds Santa Xmas present in a box which clearly showed the contents. He noticed my daughter was around, tapped his nose and located a blanket to wrap the item in before carrying it wrapped to the back of my garage and hiding it behind some other boxes (noting i had seen him do this). I wrote to his co commending his thoughtfulness. anyway back on topic. AS customer service is always good but to be fair to Bachmann you wouldn’t have purchased from them direct so they aren’t obliged to take a return whereas I assume AS items were purchased direct? Both cos have pretty good customer service in my experience but AS are more personal which goes with a smaller co I guess
