  1. If they are like the 7mm ones Bruce, its the nose side grills. Check your prototype for the right ones.Kev.
  2. Manchester - Preston December 2017, Preston - Blackpool May 2018, but don't be suprised if the former slips to join the latter. Although TPE Scottish are booked to switch to the Bolton route in December. Kev.

With the extra space I now have at home with the fiddle yard roads all in use, I've been running a little works train. But I felt it needed something else, like a lowmac maybe - An Airfix one picked up from Crafty Hobbies for a fiver! After removing the 'box' load and fitting No5's it runs a treat - A rail load and patch painting next, then it can get weathered with 37 425, which is way too clean - Not keen on clean engines! Kev.
  4. Cheers guys, progress is painfully slow! I have managed some slates - about 50% there. But it's a little tedious one row at at a time! The roof you cannot see is all done bar the ridge tiles. Kev.

Sorry for the delay Peter, I was off doing 'trams 'n' coasters' in Blackpool! I was lucky with the buffers as one of our club members had a spare set. Kev.
  6. Slowly plodding on with my 37 191 - PH buffer beams and JLTRT buffers, I decided to keep the original windows, which fit a lot better if you cut them into individual panes and file out the openings. As you can see mine came with one bogie side with yellow axle boxes. Anybody missing one? Detailing the bogies is the next job. Kev.

Not really Loch Dour, but the big un's coming on - and on a slightly smaller scale - one of three 37 401's that we have aquired! To become 37 405, 37 413 and 37 425, I know, we are greedy! Kev.
  8. The full five feet of one board, and about six inches of the other! see I am still around, just too busy playing with 'tractors' to get any work done on PH! Kev.
  9. And 24 073 with centered headcode discs. Which I have already done! Kev. edit - and now maybe 24 090, which I have also done! I have voted for a Highland 24/1 even though I'd rather have a 25/0.
  10. The 'duck' has acquired handrails, 'lead' flashing and weatherproof sheeting on the 'hut' at the side as well as some more paint. Four streetlights have also appeared, two on the bridge and two alongside the pub. No bus on the bridge though! Kev.
  11. I'm liking all the space in 7mm. Sound, two speakers, fully independent lighting and a working roof fan. With my wiring skills it's a miracle!

An O gauge Loch Dour may be on the cards Carl! Actually a 'might have been' 20ft diameter model of Lochmaben in the Scottish borders is the plan. We just have to finish Swiss Pass first. Kev.

Big innit! Also to become 37 191 but in blue 84/85 condition. Now to test it before I rip it to pieces! Kev.

Nothing ever goes to plan does it! Mk2a TSO's are all air braked of course. No problem, make up an air brake set, as all the 80's fleet loco's are dual braked. After checking the rest of the coach fleet it turns out they are ALL vac only! So, after fitting new end doors, remove air brake gear and add vacuum cylinders, re-number, fit passengers and add dirt, the two new coaches are now mk2z's! Here they are arriving behind 37 410 into Loch Dour in a mixed set with mk1's. The 80's period at least has a few more ScotRail branded coaches now. Kev.

Gonna have to fit springs to the layout legs too Andy, or the whole venue will shake!

After tweaking a few sound levels it now works a treat! I've been partaking in a little retail therapy – Firstly a pair of ScotRail branded mk2a’s from Kernow for the 80’s period, now I can run three four coach sets at home. I now have to remember how to get into them so I can fit passengers! Next – I wasn’t happy with 26 010’s install, which was with a 4ohm 40 x 20 bass-enhanced speaker. 8 ohm is better with a Zimo decoder, so she now has an 8 ohm 58 x 22 bass-reflex! Meaty, but does involve losing the cab interior at this end, but as it is always the train end, I can live with it! And speaking of speakers – On the right a 58 x 22 bass-reflex, on the left an ‘’earth mover 3’’! Both of these are going in my soon to arrive 7mm 37!

An experiment! Behind 37 408 can be seen 27 041, which is basically a collection of left over bits, and has no motor, or drive components at all! Now I have more room in the fiddle yard I thought I’d see if I could do something useful with it. Towing dead in train is easy, if a little heavy, but for double heading it would need a sound decoder. Expensive, and would need pick-ups reinstating, which would add to the drag! So, back to the Lokprogrammer, and after some fiddling, 37 408’s program now includes a full 27 program as well. This is allocated to f15, and runs in sync with the 37 sounds when switched on! It is looking promising. Kev.
  19. Work slowly continues! The road vehicles have acquired wing mirrors of varying designs, and painting started on ‘the duck’ until I realised I hadn’t fitted the barge boards. Doh! This is now ongoing and then painting can be restarted. Kev.

What drew my attention was you saying that you're in possession of an MXULF.......me too........got it after being dazzled by Mr Chetter at Phil Suttons launch of his 24. Haven't got a Scooby how the thing works yet. Got it out ouf the box, had a look and put it back away again.........Seriously though, I'm going to have to get a grip of it, so if at any point you come across any helpful sites or YouTube how to's, that sort of thing, let us know! cheers Andy Good to hear your on the mend Andy. As for the MXULF, I've got a little further than you, and have got as far as conecting it all up! Building and downloading a sound project looks straightforward enough (although I bet it wont be) but I'll be buggered if I can figure out how to modify the cv's and function allocations on a pre-installed decoder! Back to the 'quack menu' for now until I can work out the translations! Kev.

Hello all, remember me? No. I'm not surprised, cos I've done and posted bog-all on this thread since March last Year! Loch Dour is still run two or three times a week, so it still serves its purpose admirably, but not much has actually been 'done' to the layout in a while. But while running the layout over Christmas, thoughts turned to the fiddle yard extension. This is added to the layout during assembly from behind, but at home the layout is up against the wall, so no access from behind! But where there is a will and all that I figured out a way with boxes instead of legs and behold – This means I can now run five trains in each direction at home, and a lot of them are longer as they are at shows. The picture shows my entire 70’s stock on the layout, and there is still room for more! My fellow operators stock not being present of course. The sheet to the left lists the functions allocated to the F-keys, these all having been (mostly!) standardised. 27 032 is currently being fitted with a Digitrains Zimo decoder and big speaker to be followed by 26 010 from the 80’s fleet when the period will change to 80’s mode. Oh and I now have in my possession a Zimo MXULFA programmer to master! Happy new year all. Kev.
  23. 90 128-30 were painted in 'foreign' liveries (German/Belgian/French) as part of the freightconnection92 event. 90 136 also later got a version of French 'sybic' colours. Some of us 'sados' even did repaints of them all! Kev.
