Very nice. I share your interest in Garden railways. Having moved I need to build a new line. An area has been allocated for it but there is a lot to be done first.

You should be able to put a resistor in series to reduce the current through the LED the result may not be linear and it may cease to light at a level brighter than you want I would suggest a pre-set potentiometer something you can adjust if need be. I would try a 100k pot first but if you have one to hand try that first. For real dimmable control a PWM circuit would give control to very ow light levels.

Very effective Mike.

The comment about the indulgent feeding of the stationmaster made me smile. I think we know a stationmaster rather fond of his Ginger cats.
Poachers can be wily, one from Ironbridge was walking home with two rabbits when stopped by the local constable. He duly handed the rabbits over to the officer. On reaching the police station he thanked the officer for carrying his rabbits. The local squire had been plagued by rabbits and sought his help. The two rabbits were payment for his time.

More wonderful modelling Dave. To me the interior works well you just see a glimpse of the interior and it looks right. Not only is the modelling top class but you have a great flair for arranging the bits and pieces. The two cats look very natural.

Ok Dave I will be pleased to bring something along.

Excellent work Dave the bits of woodland is very effective. The church looks quite effective. I do wonder whether only the tower should be visible as though the whole village is in a dip or whether a hint or two of other rooves might indicate more of a village. Trouble is I wouldn't want you to spoil it trying to much.
I am really looking forward to seeing this at Taunton. If you want any help on the day let me know. I might bring something along if running rights might be permitted in the quiet moments. Is it all DCC now.

Ian's Pictures show the lighting very well.

Looks good how do you intend to operate it. Often people get a bit confused when it comes to the operation.

very informative. The photos belie how small all the parts are only the size of your fingers and thumb give the sense of scale. I like the motor mount. Should it need adjusting due to wear it looks as though it would be simple to take a little more off the base. Good design I think.

Looks very good. The nightime running should be very atmospheric. The only downside is it might make it harder for people to see the benefits of finescale track and wheels also you excellent work.
I presume the black sheet can be left in place so you can change from light to dark and back. What about coach lighting have you got any stock prepared.

To avoid splinters I use a fine toothed saw (at least 10tpi 12tpi would be better) and have a piece of sandpaper handy to rub down the cut edge to just take the splinters off.
This is the underside of a board made for a 2mm layout it has been propped up in various places and survived two house moves but is still flat and square. I am hoping to get on with it once the house is sorted out
Railway Modeller might publish a short bit from me on baseboards in the May issue

Rather big for a Micro layout. Which style to go for is something you can only really tell by experience. Don't forget to work out carriage of the stock lighting etc.

Looks good. 6mm ply will be fine I find ordinary external grade ply from a builders merchant is fine. After all you are going to cover it up.

Very good Dave. I do like the sound I think it works well on simple layouts where only one loco is moving at once. I would assume a 14xx would have a similar sound I have ridden in the cab of one but couldn't say quite how it sounded. I look forward to see the layout at the SWAG meet.

Pleased you had a good show.

Nice work on the gates. I made a pair similar to them using some larch we were given didn't paint them used Linseed Oil. Now I have a field gate like the one at the bottom to erect. Mind you these are 12in:1ft The 6in square posts will take some digging out. I would be tempted to cut model gates out in card and then give them a coat of shellac.

Have a good show Pete. I may get to see the layout one day. I never had problems with sore thumbs must be a DCC thing. I do like the lenz ones with a knob (a real luddite)

I remember looking at all the models the museum then was part of the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery in Queens road up near the Uni. The one in the Industrial Museum had the boats and the Gauge 1 layout.
Bullo Pill is quite fascinating the Harbour is/was? tiny

The detail may not be clearly visible but something would show. I bet if you just sort mocked something up it wouldn't look quite right but that view of the mantlepiece with the clock on top is just the sort of detail that would be glimpsed through a window. Assuming that side will face the viewer of course. Lovely work.

Wonderful Mikkel. The sheets look really good as well. The view of the train with a few wagons sheeted and others without looks about right. Sheeted wagons are fairly rare on model layouts but appear in lots of photos.

One would really need to find red lead applied over red lead to indicate it was used as a top coat and not just a primer.

Great idea Mikkel we rarely see a goods yard modelled to any depth yet plenty of goods yards spread out over a wide area. This does capture the feel of a major goods yard to me. Look forward to seeing it progress.

Cannot really add much to what others have said about the backscene. Some interesting tips there on painting the backscene.
