  1. There is also 3 main manufacturers of both mainline and industrial locomotive kits which at least 1 new loco a year minimum has been brought out by each. These being High level who also gives us another choice of gearbox to use with a vast selection of designs to suit our locos and gear ratios, Judith edge and myself, RT Models.
  2. I think that would be difficult with a articulated vehicle, but standard bogies vehicle I would agree. Maybe have the pair of bolts both ends of one bogie if in the middle of a pair of articulated coaches or if a 3 car, the next one with just one pair as shown.
  3. Missenden abbey run modelling courses including soldering but looks like the first part of 2018 is fully booked. http://www.missendenrailwaymodellers.org.uk/# Tbh, at exhibitions some demonstrators may let you have a go on some scrap brass left over from kits?
  4. For me partly this drawing and my own measurements taken. I did not bother with the 50550 parts as the chimney was missing from the real loco as these are different to austerity's. A surprise came in a railway bylines magazine a few months ago where a Corby 50550 was carrying a austerity chimney! Strangely, on the Dapol/Hornby rtr austerity, the chimney is more shaped for a 50550 than a austerity, hmmmmm.
  5. 50550 bufferbeams are currently part drawn, guess I better crack on if I get some time this week.
  6. I have not done anymore work on patterns or drawings. Although the wheel situation will now be resolved as these use 8mm wheels, same size as my Stanton slag ladle wagon.
  7. Hello everyone, Heres some photos of my D16/3 built from a Mallard models kit using the chassis as designed. The driving wheels are in a separate chassis to the mainframes the pivots within them. This is demonstrated by the screw driver, note the bogie has no up and down movement what so ever and its sideways movement is controlled by a large piece of rod. I have cheated, in that by getting it out, I have added the screw couplings, cleaned as much weathering off as possible and given a coat of Humbrol clear which needs rubbing down and another coat added as I felt it should depict when in a special and to make those brass framing's stand out more, part of the reason for liking these locos. All this done on Friday and photographed earlier.
  8. Thank you Chris, or is that Dave To me, the chassis makes sense as it's literally a simple 0-4-0 chassis that can be slotted into another set of frames to pivot into. It does away with the normal balancing problems with 4-4-0's. A real loco would normally take some of the weight of the loco so why not our models? If Tony is happy and that I don't get called out over the weekend to replace real trains with buses, I can take new photos of the loco and of the chassis on its own?
  9. Hello Tony, Thought I'd share my D16/3, this is a old photo so could do with a up to date one. Built from a Mallard models kit when I was about 23? At the time the kit was only £50. The front bogie carries a lot of the locos weight and uses the weird chassis as it ensures all wheels remain in contact with the track for power collection and traction.
  10. Hello Alastair, The flange profile should be rp25 but is spot on to the previous wheels used. They will come with 00 axles as standard as they are made for me rather than having to cut and file them myself as before. The wheels came about because another kit maker wanted 8mm wheels as they couldn't get the same wheels either, I just simply asked if its possible to have the faces flush rather than recessed and with the correct 8 holes and at Markits recommendation wider tread as it was too narrow for normal SG use. The Workington open wagon I need to get round to altering as unfortunately it's current layout is not accepted by my etchers.
  11. Hello everyone, very quickly before I rush out driving is a sample wheel from Markits to suit my 4mm scale Stanton slag ladle kit. The wheel is correctly 8 hole, 8mm diameter with a 1.5mm axle and will come chemically blackened. Due to the bush, the wheels stick out more so will need trimming partly or altogether and fibre washers inserted if the latter.
  12. I would say you have also filled in the wheel centres on the 64xx which makes a huge difference.
  13. Hello everyone, A few updates all in 4mm scale. The bulleid Pacific smoke deflectors are now back in stock, these come from a seperate source hence the delay in restocking compared to other etches in my range. The De Winton has come to a halt currently. Etches are now approved and patterns to be sent off for a mould to be made for both whitemetal and lost wax brass castings. Unfortunately there is no delivery date on the motors and wheels currently so this has halted the production of the kit. The cranks and axles will be made available seperately soon though. I'm sorry about the situation with the de Winton.
  14. Just under a week to go until EM North/ EM Autumn in Manchester. I will be present with the RT Models stand, no new releases unfortunately. I will be at Scaleforum also. Swanley NG on 28th October should see the release of the much anticipated Dewinton in 4mm, 009. Latest test etch has been approved so just got to finish the pattern making and gather the components together.
  15. And I grew up a 5 minute walk from Tooting Lido in Streatham till 10 years ago where the road I lived on led onto the outskirts of Tooting Bec common. Never been swimming in there, my school took me to the swimming baths next to the old bus garage, AK depot code.
  16. For me, the lack of locomotive and rolling stock construction articles (plus scale drawings) puts me off from buying magazines these days. These from a young age taught me quite a bit and actually made me want to build something which I did on my 14th birthday, a SEF secr class C. Then a secr H just after Christmas within a week of each other (glad both was not rolled into one then) but sold that built onto a friend. Before then I was scratch building locos in plastic card so it shows the value to me of such articles.
  17. I'll leave the ar$e kicking to someone else, At least you remembered me being the smaller and youngest of the others
  18. I must admit, I hate writing instructions, it bores me to death as well as designing the etches on the computer. The post war 100hp sentinel kit I'm fairly happy with the instructions as they are quite detailed in both text and illustrations as well as photos of both the model and real locos. The assembly diagrams are hand drawn in my own time rather than on a computer. http://www.rtmodels.co.uk/4swk003%20post%20war%20100hp%20sentinel%20instructions.pdf http://www.rtmodels.co.uk/4slk004%204mm%20scale%2000emp4%20100hp%20pre%20war%20heavy%20be%20sentinel%20loco%20kit%20instructions.pdf
  19. Looks like I won't be attending in any vehicle, I'm playing the real role of inspector Blakey at the weekend. Good luck to the Rapido team and everyone enjoy themselves, looking forward to seeing photos posted.
  20. Well, I did manage to add the new 4mm scale bulleid rear tender ladders before I had to go out working at the last second. Many variants with the pins at the top.

It is expected to be added to the website tomorrow evening provided im not working and will retail for £3.80 a pair, £1.90 for the single 5,250 gallon version.
