  1. I have done an install of the junction signals. I was really impressed with them and found them really easy to install. I prefer these to the previous single arm signal mechanisms. in answer to a previous poster, I attached and detached the base unit a few times during filming and the signal is just fine for it.
  2. I managed to get another pack from Hereford Model Centre who seem to still have stocks.
  3. One thing I forgot to add which surprised me is I put mine onto my OO9 layout without any track cleaning and which has sat in my conservatory for a couple of months. The loco ran faultlessly, unlike my other OO9 locos which traditionally sulk somewhat until I clean the track.
  4. Those concerned for the wellbeing of the pug may be soothed by the knowledge that it was converted back to its standard configuration after filming. It was then used in a Humbrol weathering powder review video, before being given away as the prize in a competition I ran on my Monday Club. (Edited to add: Picture below of said loco when being offered as the competition prize)
  5. A response from Dapol confirming that there was no special treatment to the model I was loaned other than to test run it; not unlike what a buyer would have done in a shop when they buy one: “Just to confirm your sample was removed from the packaging. put on the track, ran forwards and backwards a hand full of times and put back into its packaging and posted out to you.”
  6. If you watch the video it makes clear the circumstances of how I got the model as per Youtube’s rules.
  7. This is definitely one of my favourite models of the year. I also like that it was announced then arrived within a matter of weeks.
  8. You would have to ask Dapol that question. I just review them as I find them.
  9. The example I reviewed ran just fine over all my pointwork.
  10. The ballast is from War World Scenics. Applied with their ballast glue.
  11. A really beautiful loco and a smooth reliable runner. I’m very pleased with mine.
  12. The upside down layout does still exist, but minus the mechanism that rotates the carousel (it was made from lots of 30 year old Technic Lego) and the motor, which now rotates my turntable. Getting a train to climb vertically is actually easier than upside down. My unshown test rig to prove the concept worked demonstrated this. I got the idea after being shown the Powerbase products at DCCconcepts before lockdown.
  13. I’m not aware of him having any relationship with manufacturers. Certainly the ones I talk to don’t give him anything at all.
  14. I dislike the term too but have no say in it being applied.
  15. The trailer for episode 7 doesn’t feature Sam - might you be watching the trailer for a previous episode? it does feature some nutter attempting to build an upside down layout though.
  16. Video features the LMS black, era 2 Caledonian blue and sound fitted weathered BR black models. It will go live at 4pm UK time today
  17. It is an absolute stunner in weathered BR black and the sound setup is amazing. Those who have ordered this version will not be disappointed. Of particular interest is the firebox flicker which changes depending on whether the loco is moving or stationary, or if the blower is on. It really does look real!
  18. I have just received a loan of a sound fitted example. There will be a video some time tomorrow of it. I don’t believe it has been heard publicly before so I am really looking forward to it.
  19. I do have signals that change with the points, but this is simply done using the two extra on-on contacts that each lever has. I believe it should be possible to use these terminals for interlocking, but you would have to query with DCCconcepts as to how to do this.
  20. I painted mine a variety of colours which don’t have bearing on what they do on my layout. I just wanted a visually interesting frame. In reality all levers operate points except one which does a signal and another that isolates my fiddle yard from the main power feed. This site was very informative on all the possible colours and combinations as well as what they would do. https://lever-frame.co.uk/index.php/lever-colours I was surprised how many there could be. However red (signals) black (points) blue (facing point locks) yellow (distant signals) and white (spare) seem the most common in real signalboxes. Other colours exist such as Brown (locking lever for wicket gates, turntables and swing bridges) green (gongs) and combinations such as red top yellow bottom (home and distant signals combined) blue top black bottom (point with combined FPL) and blue top brown bottom (ground frame release lever) as well as chevroned levers for fog signals and a few other oddities.
  21. The review is filmed and should, all going well, go live on Wednesday. Here are three pictures from the review; I was loaned the lighter CR livery model as well as the LMS black one.
  22. A spare photo of the review model I took for Ken Patterson of WNTW fame. This is a full production model; the review samples having been airfreighted in rather than waiting for a container.
  23. Episode 10 is now going out as episode 7 - found out yesterday.
  24. I believe episode 4 covers Steampunk, and episode 10 features the secret project I was busy keeping quiet about at the start of the year. Not seen the full first episode yet, but the snippets looked really good. I knew Callum was in it as we both talked to each other a little back when filming was going on. I find it slightly amusing that my Rapido/Model Rail J70 features heavily in the series trailer.
  25. I was lucky enough to borrow two of these from Rails at the end of GETS to do some filming. Includes DCC fitting guide:
