  1. Many thanks for your kind offer. However it is the BR liveries I am after; I already have lots of the LMS ones. I already have that very loco waiting as a donor chassis should I be able to locate any of the BR liveries I an after. many thanks again.
  2. Hi I’m after the following Hornby Or Dapol ex L&Y pug bodies or at least just the cabs to be able to change the identities of ones I already have: Hornby 51207 These may be bodies you have leftover from your own pug-bashing projects!
  3. I had the honour of running the EP samples on my layout and reviewing them. Here is the video: This video was produced with the permission of Hattons and posted after the embargo so no idea why the post was removed Without explanation before.
  4. These arrived the other day as something different and imaginative they do hit the mark. They actually inspired me to build my own from bits from my scrap box and an old class 06. I like the way they let your imagination run wild.
  5. Not on track, but a 16t mineral was retrieved from the Canal basin near Worsley long after the line it had escaped from had been lifted. There is a tanker visible at Tees yard from the A19 bridge that is marooned away from any tracks. I remember a tanker in an industrial premises in Birkenhead docks long since isolated from the rail network sat on inset track being used as a heating oil store. The site has been cleared in the intervening years. Tebay truck stop used to have a number of early TEA tankers without bogies in use as diesel tanks.
  6. Mine is still in situ and still works fine. I run it on about 5V so no risk of it blowing its lid.
  7. I did a review of mine. Compared to the previous Bachmann 24 there is a lot of improvement. Inside the cabs is also another highlight.
  8. I’m really liking this model. Comparing it to my earlier Bachmann 24s the chassis detail is just so much better!
  9. The Rails GWR Terrier is available now, whereas none announced from Hornby which probably means none until next year at the earliest. the GWR Terriers intrigue me in that they appear to have kept their GWR numbers post nationalisation whereas all the others BR inherited seem to have managed to get their 326xx numbers. Did the surviving GWR Terrier ever get any semblance of BR livery?
  10. Just been refunded. not out of stock - price now £133 on the website. They either priced it wrong or decided £87 was too cheap.
  11. As the Atholl thread was locked, here is a video of the lowest certificate number Atholl: I’m really impressed with this model. My only gripe really is that they underestimated how many to make. Hopefully we might see a rerun as a set with two LMS coaches and an oval of track in the style of the original HD sets.
  12. I’ve never noticed any issues with translucent spokes, and I’ve got three now in the ochre livery. My views on ‘issues’ that have to be looked hard for to find, is that they really aren’t an issue.
  13. I received my Brighton Works, along with a Leadenhall, in the post yesterday. I am certainly not disappointed. The colour looks right to my eye, and certainly far better than some of the older version offerings in my collection like Waddon and the almost faded Whitechapel that looks particularly bad.
  14. I’ve just recently got Brighton from Hornby. I must say, I love the rendition of this livery. I’m tempted to track down a Merton and pick up a Leadenhall too. Have any others been done by Hornby in this livery?
  15. Looking at the NCB yellow/blue loco, I can’t help but think that this would have been a far better model to supply factory weathered. In clean form it reminds me of cheap plastic toys from the 1970s.
  16. It being the weekend it is tricky getting responses. However I have had confirmed that the full production run appears to have been made and arrived at Hornby. I suspect that if I do find anything else out it won’t be until tomorrow. Having ordered mine within hours of announcement it is concerning that Hornby haven’t delivered whilst simultaneously selling the same model seven months later to anyone going on their website.
  17. Hattons also tell me that they were short supplied too. I suspect every retailer has been short supplied. I do not have the information as to why.
  18. Hornby gave every retailer an allocation. The retailers then allowed people to order up to that allocation. I don’t make a habit of ordering from multiple shops “just in case”. Like everyone else, I order once (in my case within a couple of hours of its announcement) and when confirmed I have faith that the order will be honoured. I am awaiting contact from Hornby to find out if their is a genuine reason for the shortfall. For all we know, a container fell overboard en route.
  19. Did you order it? And if so, did it take your money and confirm it as yours?
  20. No reply as yet to my queries. it is puzzling as to why now? Surely they knew weeks ago that they would be delivering short? They left the factory at least four weeks ago; why has nothing been said until now? yes I am very disappointed, especially if the Ebay gougers still get theirs.
  21. Possibly of slight embarrassment to Hornby is that I appear in a number of their videos citing the Atholl as the 2020 announcement I’m most looking forward to. And my pre order has been cancelled. I have contacted Hornby for clarification as to the reason, whether they made less than originally announced, or some other reason.
  22. Just had the dreaded email: “The purpose for the email is in regards to your pre-order for the Hornby R3819 Centenary Edition Duchess of Atholl Locomotive. At the beginning of the year Hornby allocated a set amount of all Centenary products to all retailer including the R3819 Duchess of Atholl. The purpose for them allocating was so products were not oversold and retailers knew from the beginning how much stock they had to sell. Subsequently we opened up our order books and pre-sold to within our allocation of stock. Hornby however this week have contacted us and informed us that our allocation of the Duchess of Atholl will now be significantly reduced. This is totally out of our control and after many attempts to secure the original volume it appears this will not happen. This unfortunately means that we are unable to fulfil your pre-order and the order will be cancelled. We are extremely disappointed that we have do this. Rails this year will celebrate the 50th year of its family run business. It is down to loyal customers such as yourself placing their trust and orders with us that has placed us where we are today, so it really pains us when we let just one of our customers down. We honestly would love to supply and fulfil your order, however we cannot force Hornby to sell us the stock. We have tried to give you as much notice as possible in the hope you will be able to secure stock elsewhere, including Hornby’s direct website. We will continue to try and secure additional units and should this be successful you will be one of the first to know about it. Once again please accept our apologies for the disappointment and we hope it doesn’t affect ordering in the future with us. ”
  23. Ouch! Was there any explanation given? i have one on order with Rails. I’ve just checked my account and nothing has changed as yet - still shows as ‘pending’.
  24. My blue class 40 arrived. I’ve just finished filming it for a review, but I’m impressed with it’s smooth running. I’ve fitted it with a Hornby TTS class 40 chip. I’m impressed that the Hornby speaker fits perfectly under the fan and the sound is really good.
