  1. I'd have thought that stands 12 Ellis Clark Trains and stand 39 Scale Link would be the stands to check out. OzzyO.
  2. Hello all, a mate of mine has just been over to York and the N.R.M. and sent me a photo of 6229 and a blue loco (Mallard) close to one another, now that got me thinking. Why not have all the streamlined locos near each-other along with the non streamlined ones. So you could have 4472, Mallard, 6229, 6233, then 34051 and 35029 or any of the 340s that have not been rebuilt. One thing about doing this is it would not cost that much to put on as the N.R.M.have most of the locos. IIHIC in my list above the only loco the N.R.M. does not have is 6233. I don't think it will happen as it won't cost enough money. OzzyO.
  3. Hello TTG. the Whitehaven - Huddersfield TPO was normal about load 3 or 4. The front BG would have any mail for any station that the Wht - Hud would call at. The rear BG would have any mail for the up and down TPOs and any that connected with them, this coach was dropped off at Preston, then any coaches (mail) that were going on to Hud would be attached from the up TPO. This sort of thing happened at a large number of rail hubs on the TPO network. ATB OzzyO. PS. if this was before the abolition of on the move pick up and set down of the mail the formation would have more than likely have been BG, POT, POS, BG, one of the po? would have been for picking/dropping off in the up direction and the other for the same in the down.
  4. Hello Steve, all, drawings of the Post Office vans. The top one on this page is the one that JLTRT kit No. PWR79 builds The bottom one on this page is the one that JLTRT kit No. 78 builds. ATB OzzyO.
  5. That would work, as loco,RMB, 1st/3rd Slep,BG,POT, POS, BG. or Loco 1st/3rd slep, RMB, BG, POT, POS, BG. But I think for a short formation like this it would be, Loco BG, POT, POS, BG, SK, BCK . A lot would depend on the distance that the coaches were going to a lot of the time the BGs could stay with the POT & POS (think of these two as a set of twins) but some times these (the BGs) were removed and connected to another train and another one or two added to the first train. So maybe not the best train to add the sleepers to? ATB OzzyO.
  6. Hello Steve, on the JLTRT web site it says that the two T.P.Os. are both sorting vans, the Dia. 720 (PWR79) is a POS (sorting van). But the Dia. 722 is a POT (stowage van). You can and should run them together in your time zone, using one to pick up the down mail and one to pick up the up mail. The rest of the train would be made up of BGs, GUVs and maybe a Siphon or two. With the BGs coupled to the T.P.Os. OzzyO.
  7. Steve, always keep the Easybuild Mk1s together as the side and roof profiles are different to the JLTRT ones (that are due back out soon). I like the idea of different livery's on each side. ATB OzzyO.
  8. Hello Peter, heating the oil was to help make it flow. You can get the inside frames out with the stretcher trapped to it like this, Anne is very much a work in progress. Have you got my mobile No.? ATB OzzyO.
  9. Nice looking build Peter, some nice work going on with the oil pipes, but just to clear one thing up the front lub. boxes are for the cylinders that use a very thick oil and the two pipes at the front are a steam feed and the steam exhaust pipe that just runs down the inside of the frames to atmosphere. On the tender the two stretchers the rear one the strengthens point down and the front one the strengtheners point upwards. Are you going to Telford, we're go for the two days. ATB Paul.
  10. Thanks all, when I got back in the workshop yesterday I just got out my super blue and it did work well. OzzyO.
  11. Hello all, just a couple of questions about Slater's wheels, now I have been using them for years but the packs that I have just opened have steel coloured Allen screws, are these any better than the normal "black" ones? Also can you use any blackening on them (I'll give it a go in a minute or two when I'm back in the workshop). Someone has also mentioned that Slater's are using (a gel, or something) to stop the rusting problem, how long have we been on about this? Knowing Mr. W. it will be something that is cheap and a bu99er to remove like Vaseline. OzzyO. PS, all of the above are my own thoughts and are nothing to do with the website.
  12. Hello all, at least one of the Star re-builds had both types of front end. 5088 1954 with joggled frames, 5088 1963 with straight frames. There may be more but I don't have any photos showing them. The photos are copyright and are only used to illustrate a point. OzzyO.
  13. Hello Sandy, the photo above is smashing, what was the smokebox number plate on the loco with 46101 on the cab side? Then what was the number on the cab sides of the loco that has 46101 on the smokebox door number plate? Interesting!!!!!!!! OzzyO.
  14. Hello Brian, if you have not done it already check your works pension and look at taking it ASAP as the way the pension things are going you could lose out. You have been allowed to take to take it after you were 55. See you at Telford? OzzyO.
  15. Hello Martyn, that's how I'm reading it, but if it was a 20' point it would have 4. So what is the difference between a 20' point and a "C" type? If my maths is correct adding up the sleeper spacing of the two points is as follows, "C" 29' 3" 20' 29' 5.5" ATB OzzyO.

The seats that I was thinking about were a sort of blue and green with a mix of a dark colour in it for the second class (why did we not take colour photos of the interiors of rolling stock in them days?) . I was also thinking about the 3+2 side seating that we had around here. ATB OzzyO.
  17. Hello Martin, I've just had a look at the post about the "C" switch in Templot but I can't see anything about the spacing for the tie-bars (stretcher bars) if I'm missing it please point (sorry) it out. OzzyO.

Bog off you sat in the same seats as me mostly in the ex first class end when we could. They were a sort of blue colour and the second class seats were also a sort of blue colour but not the same. Also all the second class seats did not have head rests. OzzyO.
  19. Hello Dave, it's also in your first post above in that points made before 1948 with "c" type plaining may only have two stretcher bars but after 1948 could have three stretcher bars. If I'm reading the drawings correctly OzzyO.

Hello Kev, I don't remember any seats in that colour in any stock in the 70s or 80s or any time before or after. Come on lets see some photos of the big 37. OzzyO.
  21. So daifly, in the second post above on the "C" part of the drawings it seems to show a third stretcher in the fourth sleeper spacing. But it also looks like you have to know the length of the blade planing as well. OzzyO.
  22. Hello Martyn, that is one long point in post No 414, but I would have thought that it would have had more than just the two ties that you have modelled, with a third or fourth tie about four or five sleeper spaces back. Not long till Telford. ATB OzzyO.
  23. Or make the paint stick any better! LoL OzzyO.
  24. Hello George, it did have me going as well as I did not think that it was correct but knowing the lads and lasses at the East Lancs. I had a bit of a look at some photos on the puter and came up with this one copyright unknown. It still looks odd thought. OzzyO.
  25. Hello George, some nice photos from the E.L.R. about the only one that makes me think is that right is the one showing the tender of 76084 with the lining set a long way from the back edge of the tender. OzzyO.
