  1. Phew! That's the first post salvaged from the photobucket debacle....
  2. Good on you for salvaging the topic after the photobucket debacle, I fear too much information will be lost due to people not willing to do what you have.
  3. Do any photos exist of these online? I've never seen one.
  4. Some Peco vans joined the fleet, at some point they will be repainted into the correct blue livery, but for now I've contented myself with some grey on the roofs instead of the bright white. Here they are posed with Skarloey. This was the damaged side where masking tape removed a lot of paint. Hopefully it's not too noticeable now...
  5. Makes me muse about cutting and shutting an S&DJR 7F 2-8-0 into a 2-6-0.
  6. The truth is, the layout is currently out of use as one of the points has given up the ghost and I haven't fixed it, so have been focusing on the RC and narrow gauge projects. Once I fix the layout again the SG projects will pick up once more. In the meantime here is more video of Skarloey running on the floor... https://www.instagram.com/p/BT99a7HlbIo/
  7. Nice one! It's coming together well. I've been taking a break on the standard gauge front, as seen over on this thread I've been working on installing the Deltang radio control system into a Bachmann 'Skarloey'. Here's a video of the loco on test: Still lots of little details to add and finish but I'm really pleased with how it's come together.
  8. Here's a little demo/test I did this afternoon to show how the charger plugs in, where the switch is located, and how long it lasts on a charge. It's come a long way since the first post, I think.
  9. Sounds a good idea! I've managed to fit the Narrow Planet 3D printed smokebox door. I had to grind a bit of material out of the back to clear the charging plug, but it now fits snugly with some black tack holding it in place. The cab is a lot tidier with less wiring now the switch has been relocated. The saddle tank has been repainted and the loco reassembled. I think it looks quite smart now, really pleased so far. I'm debating putting a TR-style wooden door onto one side of the cab, my intended model is of the Skarloey Railway in the 1940s and 1950s - the 'lean years' - hence the red dome and not a shiny brass one.
  10. I wanted to tidy up the BPRC installation on Skarloey, as well as repaint it. Stripped the chassis back Much chopping and cutting on the section of chassis under the cab Here you can see the gap this makes, the switch will go neatly here. and here we are part way through the repaint. The saddle tank needs rubbing back and handrails added before a top coat.
  11. Haha! That's ok, they are a continental trademark. I prefer the anglicised version
  12. Something a bit more subtle....
  13. Ok, I'll call it the Cafallarratt On a side note - yes you are right about it being simple expansion, which is interesting as the article describes the base image as a Super-Garratt or Mallet-Garratt
  14. it's Tuesday, the party is in full swing which means it's time for the 7th and final chapter, thank you for watching and I hope you check back again for more tales in the future!
  15. Oil fired, Cab Forward Mallet-Fairlie-Garratt anyone? Made from the Super-Garratt that Beyer Peacock drew up.... http://www.railwaywondersoftheworld.com/articulated-locos.html
  16. On the workbench at the moment is this brace of wagons destined for the TK&F, I wanted some suitable pre-grouping wagons and these Cambrian kits are very nice. Here they are halfway through painting and weathering, still awaiting suitable wheels, details and couplings. Perhaps a suitable load as well...
  17. Sounds a lovely idea, looking forward to seeing it develop. Also - really liked the feature on 'Clevedon' in RM this month!
  18. Looks a solid start though with nice detail on the valve gear etc, lots better than the old 0-6-0 geared chassis that always look a bit wrong. I've always liked those cab spectacle windows with the 'eyelids'
  19. Hooray! It's another sunny day in Brookford, and today's no ordinary day. It's time for the party!
  20. They look lovely Nile. How well do the close coupled pair cope with pointwork and curves? Do you have a back story/parent company in mind for this layout?
  21. Very interesting. I guess 'Russell' may never had been built if this design had gone ahead.
  22. I think 93001 is my favourite 'neverwazza' ever. I still have the bits in my drawer to build 2 Std. 8Fs. One day....
