Class 800 - Updates
HullCityB17 replied to Indomitable026's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I thought the Relief Lines was where the GWR Trains would get 'pulled off' by a "Tug" or "Super Tug" when it had been naughty! -
Class 27 spotted at Leicester this evening
HullCityB17 replied to Dr Gerbil-Fritters's topic in UK Prototype Questions
According to WNXX paperwork issues prevented Thursday's move so AFAIK they didn't move to Stoke. They just got moved around the Leicester Shed and the two GBRF 66's left without the Class 56's as there have been no pictures of them leaving yet unless there has been a road movement of one not located at Leicester. -
You can justify the Dapol Class 122 if you want the Loadhaul livery one as this worked all over before being preserved at the Weardale Railway in BR Green. The Loadhaul one went all around Yorkshire and North East being based at Thornaby before being stored there
-
Ok it was Dapol but it still had errors which they ignored the Class 58 LG advice. This is from information I learned when I used to volunteer with the group.
-
Heljan have a habit of not listening to advice. Look at the 00 Gauge and N Gauge Class 58's which the Class 58 Locomotive Group were advisors. They offered advice and pointed out known errors but went ahead anyway, then the Class 58 Group wanted nothing to do with the models. I hope the Class 50 Fund have more luck with their models than the Class 58 Locomotive Group. As with Heljan, most models that they have produced have a history of fragile parts and also errors. Still at least they have kept the kit manufacturers in business

Diagram 1/552 Inspection Saloon Liveries
HullCityB17 replied to Captain Cuttle's topic in UK Prototype Questions
You also missed the following liveries... Scotrail, Loadhaul and Mainline Aircraft Blue. I am not sure whether they were the LMS Design or BR Designs but Resaldar (Mike Cole) has build a few of these and he provide advice and extra info. -
Modifying The O Gauge Heljan Class 37
HullCityB17 replied to HullCityB17's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Although I have not done this a friend of mine made a start using a fibreglass pen to reveal the yellow paint underneath. All painting projects are on hold at present as I have moved on to doing a Mk2 coach convertion. Also, due to the fans being very noisy these have been disabled on my class 37 & 20 models. -
They have not done a Class 58 in O Gauge and no class 56 RTR available in O Gauge. Both only available as kits which the mouldings are out of date and the Romanian Grid is not available!

Sorry I meant to say O Gauge

Too many late night fishing trips on your fishing boat Rob!

Congratulations Ben in your new post. An idea for a new model that Heljan could do is the BR MKII Coach as Dapol is doing the MkI's. It would be an idea to start with Blue and Grey, Regional Railways, Network South East and Intercity liveries for the Class 31/33/37/47/50 late 80's to early 1990's era. Then the Southern Green and Maroon liveries for the Steam era could come as a later release? Also, how about some special edition RTC Test Coaches in a similar fashion to what MR did in 4mm scale?

New crowdfunded project from Lococraft - LMS diesels 10000/10001
HullCityB17 replied to dpgibbons's topic in 7mm+ modelling
A few questions if I may? How much Customer Research has been done to see if you can actually sell enough LMS Twins without ending up in the same situation as Heljan and there O Gauge Falcoln where it was supposed to be a popular choice but there market is still awash with unsold models which cannot be easily modified to say a Class 47? I know a bit about Crowd funding and it helps if you propose an idea that you know people will contribute to and not propose some in the vain hope you may get people interested. Was it case of no-one else does the LMS Twins and I want a pair in O Gauge so I will get them made and damn the consequences, or do you have supporting figures of potential customers? Another trust issue people will have is the following "We will only accept payments by Bankers draft, Building society cheque, Electronic bank transfer (Bacs) or postal orders (unsigned). We will not accept credit or debit cards. " Now, I'm sorry but anyone offering a service for something unseen and untested for £600 where the banks cannot give a refund if your company ends up like JLTRT for example in the future then why do you think you will get many investors as a lot of people do not have cheques anymore. Also why are there references on your Facebook page that certain people/modellers who have been previously mentioned have allegedly been involved in your project yet it turns out that they have had no connections with the project at all and there names are being used just like Martin Lewis by Facebook! -
Already covered in the following topic so you don’t need to keep asking in other people’s Shawplan Topics http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/131302-how-to-order-from-shawplan/&do=findComment&comment=3133308

Best Type Of Printer for Producing Transfers
HullCityB17 replied to HullCityB17's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Many thanks for everyone's help so far. The transfer that I plan to print out is a white image with no other colours. I believe the original was printed on a clear background as it is white with a black background but the background is more likely to be the background of the black headcode box. The added image is copyright Spannerman37025 and is just to highlight what I plan to achieve. -
I wonder if someone here can help point me in the right direction please? I currently have an O Gauge 7mm BR Blue Heljan Domino Headcode Class 20 which I wish to produce a set of unique transfers to create 20197 when it carried a Nessie transfer in the headcode box on 26/01/1984 (pictured at Rannoch Station with 37265) with an early Beilheck Snowplough attached to the Class 20. Picture on Flikr taken by Spannerman37025. Unfortunately Steve at Railtech has declined despite providing the dimensions of the Heljan Class 20 Headcode box. Originally a member of my local Model Railway Group had planned to produce these on his printer but I believe his ex. partner has destroyed said printer. Now I have a laser printer which if I am correct would just melt the transfer paper. Also, I am planning on binning my printer due to it having a faulty laser. So, am I correct in thinking that I should go with an inkjet printer and can anyone recommend any makes? I have searched online and all I could find was people who have the ALPS/OKI Printers from 18 years ago with massive stock piles of cartridges for these like Precision Labels. Now, I am surprised as I thought cartridges dry up if they are not used and past there use by date?

Hi GW. I am enjoying your thread and I am following with interest for when I have to build my first O Gauge layout. I do have one question about the direction of the clamps on the rail chairs. I have noticed that it looks like you have them in pairs and then alternating. Is this prototypical for your period or just accidental? I was under the impression that the clamps were always alternated with the exception when you approached a set of points?

Best place to see Class 68 and 88's
HullCityB17 replied to TravisM's topic in UK Prototype Questions
At DRS Crewe and DRS Carlise Kingmoor Open Days as I have seen most of both of these events. Last year at DRS Kingmoor all but three Class 88's were on site. As for the Class 68's since they first appeared DRS Gresty Bridge two years ago there are only 15x which I have not seen. A couple of hours at Banbury helped me see most of the Chiltern 68's when I was in the area a few years ago then it is just luck on freights or charters. I would say spend some time at Carlisle and also get a train to Barrow-in-Furness past Sellafield as you maybe lucky to see 2/3 there. Alternatively a train out of Marylebone past Wembley as the Chiltern 68's are allocated there. -
DC Kits may have the issue that you want as I have come across various back issues on there book stand.

Brian's 7mm Diesel Workbench, Belated up-date!
HullCityB17 replied to brian daniels's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
The Class 56 is going back to the person who I purchased it from tomorrow. Although they did not start building it there is a crease in the roof section where it has not been rolled properly and the roof has not been joined correctly to the sides, so the side grilles would then not fit properly. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures to show you as it is all boxed and wrapped for return delivery. Seller has agreed to refund me the money inc postage. The model had not been progressed far. Just the sides attached to the roof which must have been flat to start with for a small section to end up with a crease. -
Brian's 7mm Diesel Workbench, Belated up-date!
HullCityB17 replied to brian daniels's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Hi Brian...Sorry to hijack your thread. I noticed on your Flikr page that you have modelled the RJH Class 56. I have just recently purchased a PMRP Class 56 from Ebay which was a part built kit. As this is my first ever kit, do you have any advice, hits, tips to offer that could help me when I come to build it please? I was the one stood with Lord Flashheart when the two of you were chatting at Warley last year. I had been to the Modelu stand and just purchased the 'mini Brian Daniels' in O Gauge although unlike Rob your legs are still in tact on my 'mini BD' as I have yet to decorate him!
