  1. When were the first 11s withdrawn?
  2. I'm not sure why ,but was the loco one of the batch built without train brakes?
  3. I seem to remember that was unable bit of a state too Was 79 when I went on a NELPG charter from Middlesbrough
  4. Can't imagine it would be a great place to live so close to the glosop line with units squealing round the curve
  5. I went there on a charter with green Arrow which came off there and a pair of 76s came on. Blue Peter was there seemed like it was resident and in pretty ropey condition
  6. I believe the RCH cables predate the air brake,I'm sure I've read somewhere that the cables if parted would cause a bell to ring denoting a divided train and the brakevan was always at the tywyn end
  7. Excellent pictures David Unusual to see a yellow horn grille on a blue and grey power car
  8. The 91s have never looked as stylish since, I wonder why they ran with the front valance removed in the early days?
  9. Not all of them have that, the central 156s has them and were virtually brown and totally useless
  10. Some have arrows and some have wipacs hair raiser on them
  11. They don't last too long the reflectors often discolour
  12. The hair raiser was quite a cheap and nasty spotlight often sold in mail order catalogues
  13. Until they decimated the area with the A66 and junctions there was another bridge at the opposite end of the station which I seem to remember was a lot taller but had a tight T junction on the opposite side but I think buses used it
  14. I seem to recall when I was a kid it was dark grey with ferrodo advertising on it
  15. Many a bus has hit Albert bridge over the years Excellent photos there David
  16. Having spent a winters night in a large motor home in Blakey's car park I could well imagine a caravan being blown off the top at Rosedale
  17. Just checked the website to see March station, disappointed to see it's been modelled with the current cut back canopy
  18. I'm not sure that's the case Phil, as we don't know a lot about the concept at present, this may predate the polmont accident. So if Pete is correct that it was an HST nose on a mk3 it wouldn't have had to couple up to other sets and would still have done 125 in either direction. What I do feel about this concept is the high failure rate the train would have had. In the 80s it was more than common to see an HST with a power car shut down because of failure. If there was only one power car...
  19. We're they streamlined Pete, or similar to a DBSO to make up longer sets?
  20. That opens up another question, what is known about the 1+5 HST. I've not come across this before, only plans in the post BR era of converting existing sets
  21. The new F125 is also a V20 but a cat 175 engine the same family as the 68 which also looks vaguely similar. Anyone know if the F125 is silenced?
  22. Cheers for that John, the fridge was huge but used to smell a bit! That's the usual way to isolate a final drive, after the pub has been turned on the casing the reverser must be operated several times for the pin to locate the sliding dog in the center position. If the engines can't be run to create air pressure it can be supplied from a loco or another unit using the main reservoir pipe, obviously with the white circle system this can't be done
