  1. Is there any plans for this to become a printed magazine?
  2. Cheers Richard, is that nigels?
  3. I was guard on a charter some years back and the generator car packed up. One of the locos was a 37/4 . It was a red hot day and by juggling coaches on and off I managed to keep all 12 cool. Cooling doesn't draw as much load as heating so I had 7 or 8 aircons on at a time and the loco was happy with that. When we did charters with 47s or 57s I would try to have the rear one providing ETG as that gave the front one more traction power. You did have to be careful not to switch both on. It was possible to switch the rear ETH off from the front loco but not switch it on. Pressing the off button brakes the circuit of the 110v providing circuit which drops all locos out
  4. Great pictures David, wonder why some bloke is hanging out of the window of that DMU. That would be enough to cancel a railtour now
  5. Problem with having Ashley involved is that if Hornby is doing well like it appears to be at the moment he likely to try and increase his share of the company. Unfortunately when Hornby catches a cold as it often does he's not the kind of person that would show any kind of sympathy to the company and there would be a real danger of it closing completely
  6. I know it's good for Hornby but Ashley??? One of the most hateful people in public life
  7. No, I mean liveries correct for a 56. Those things with no horn grilles and massive extra side grilles look awful I'll be honest I hate the things
  8. Why!!! I don't understand the retro type paint jobs on these They look fine as 56s in BR liveries but they just look messy as 69s and can't for the life of understand a western nameplate Misha Black will be spinning in his grave!
  9. Good job current DFT weren't about then , Trevithick would have been forcibly deported for trying to introduce an non cost effective transportation system 😉
  10. Rear must be a NE standard, a friend was telling me the Norwich locos had a socket on the front for runner lighting We were also discussing that 03 runners were probably the last use of BR oil headlamps
  11. I'm sure when we looked at photos with 101s and 79s with same lining they were the same
  12. Not heard that before Steve. In early 2000s I bought a real 101 for NNR (They paid!) With the purpose of making a 79xxx replica. There were a few differences, biggest being smaller brake van but windscreens never came up. After I left it became just a 101 but it may happen yet Weird thing was the 101 actually had a door tread from a 79xxx
  13. Unusual that jumper sockets are green and valance is black They weren't lightweight as in Derby just the same as what became class 101 but with a different control system I wish someone would do an RTR version but can't see it. No Bachmann 101s have had right front end or livery for a conversion
  14. We're your runners on the front or the rear Al?
  15. So glad you're on the mend David, here's to a speedy recovery
  16. Now put together a train of 8 4w ballast wagons 4 each trout and dogfish I think more RTR small ballast hoppers is low hanging fruit for manufacturers
  17. Something else I've noticed is the Anglian 03s always seem to have the runner on the front whereas the NE ones seem to be on the back A friend used to own an ex Gateshead one and there was a socket on the cab for the runner to plug into for lighting
  18. Thanks Paul, they certainly saw varied use. With the triang one being popular in the 60s I'm surprised no manufacturer has made a decent model of one especially Bachmann who could do a version to go with the 03. Can you shed any light on how the containers were discharged? I'm trying to get hold of a mate who is an ex hartlepool driver to see if he remembers who steetley and cemetery north discharged them
  19. I've got a couple of triang ones I'm thinking about doing something with
  20. Morning John, I didn't realise this as you Russ
  21. Unfortunately I'm hopeless at soldering
  22. Looking at making 2 or 03 runners for my 03s very few decent pictures of them I'm wondering if the conflat Ls that were used had the cutouts for the 3 bottom discharge containers plated over or just left Can a decent model be made from the triang conflat L? The conflat As is seen pictures of some seem to have bullhead rail as weights but not all. Quite a few seem to have fairly rough decks, some but not all have 08 style electric lighting Anymore information gratefully received
  23. I've seen some video on YouTube of the 47, is it me or is the shape of windscreens wrong. It reminds me of the original Hornby one
  24. Bit of a shame the mk3s are going, but good news that 68s will still be working. The Chiltern ones are quite different to TPE ones so they will probably come back to DRS
  25. Best of luck tomorrow David, remember your health is the most important thing for you
