Day 51. Post delivered 4 mm scale palleted sacs and IZA so that completes the stock needed for the club layout Bardun’s bagging plant siding. Images of real wagons suggests they have become very dirty whilst in use to the point that if you did it on a model would probably be told it was unrealistic. modelling project today was adding fencing and second layer of weathering to the metal working shop for CHIRM. Longer term in lockdown looking to bring Kiln Lane the small BR 1962 layout to be based in the house. Only problem is not told the wife yet.

Thanks. Model Master flat concrete paint. When dry I rub a thin coat of Mig powders Vietnam dirt over it, European earth from the same range works as well. Then smoke powder from Mig into the cracks. Take off or add powders as you feel needs it. Gouged out areas with a broken file to create wear. Neat flat concrete paint will be weathered tomorrow. -
Looking like another two months before can get back into the clubrooms but work on models continues even if the layout building is stalled. Chris has completed the painting and detailing of the DCR and Puma livery locos at work on his Burnroyd layout. Light weathering to be added. Spalding have indicated that Bardun on the list for either 2023 or 2024..

Warm enough for glue and paint to dry in the garage today so caught up with a few jobs. Painted scenic break at chemical plant end. Prefer a light grey to a blue to represent sky. Mocked up a larger base for the metal working shop and glued down the yard shed and old caboose. fork lift truck busy in the lumber yard. -

Can be a bit of a test for the engine crews if going towards Goathland on restart -
Day 49. Positively balmy outside so worked in the garage as warm enough for glue and paint to set. Painted scenic break, increased pad for metal working shop, glued down the yard shed and caboose being used as a base for the yard teams.

Last I think of lockdown 1 orders arrived today, the 1950s/60s style fork lifts due to be placed in the lumber yard. a little shiny out of the packet but with some city dust and light rust and drivers added ready to move that wood. -
Day 48 Post delivered what I think is the last of the lockdown 1 orders. Two 1950s/60s style fork lifts to work in the lumber yard. a little bright to start with but with some city dust weathering powder and a little light rust knocked down the shine . Two of presiers dock yard set installed as drivers ready to more or less complete the lumber scene.

Day 47 A bitty day as never really got going so added some numbers to the fruit vans, searched for replacement buffers for plywood van and made up more pairs of couplings.

Whoops! Good job mine went bankrupt by the end of the 1960s! -
Day 46 worked on the two fruit vans. Had to remake the height gauge jig for the Sprat and Winkle couplings as reverted back to original bar coupling method.
-
Day 45 revealed another haul of part builds. 2 fruit vans which I think were destined to move rhubarb on the clubs Stanley Lay-out discovery of which is apt as its Rhubarb Festival week sadly another casualty of the covid situation. Plywood van, vanwide ex LMS brake van and a Toad.

Yeap ability to have another train staged and ready to roll will greatly increase the operating potential. One of the biggest mistakes I made with Vimes Street was not providing long enough or enough staging -
Day 44. warm enough to go into garage and retrieve the coal wagon tray from the Kiln Lane stock box. Worked way through the stock adding additional decals where missing and extra couplings. 8F with motor a non runner but tracked down to loose wire on tender draw bar coupling. Re soldered.
-
Counted up how many wagons will have to be changed to the bottom goal post method for the Sprat and Winkle couplings and that’s too many to change so going to have to be the Orginal method for any new stock.
